Very Good App — Much Improved

I find the app to be very good. It’s easy to change assumptions to see how your retirement plan is going. Much improved over the app when I first downloaded it a few years ago. It’s always a good idea to get other advice and compare to FE. Also, it’s never a good idea to rebalance more frequently than quarterly or even semi-annually. FE will recommend rebalancing every time you use the app. Be disciplined and get the benefits of this very good, powerful app.

Doesn’t show current information, doesn’t link to my mortgages

I had hoped this would be where I could see all assets and liabilities in one place. It doesn’t link to any of my mortgage companies, so I have to manually enter the amounts monthly. For the assets it does link to, it doesn’t update properly. I’ve been on the phone a lot, with their support and they always say to unlink and re link. It doesn’t work. Even when I re link and it says successful, the data is still days or weeks old!I’ve given up on this one.

Almost there ...

The app can connect to my 401k account and show the correct balance when first adding the account to the app but always shows a zero balance in the list view. Very frustrating but almost there.

Statements

Why no statements offered in the app? It’s a basic app with many easy to access, pertinent features, but why no statements, particularly around tax time? Seems to be a significant shortcoming, unless that feature requires a disproportionate amount of resources, security, etc. If that’s the case, inform the user about the apps intent (or lack thereof).

Great refresh!

Thank you for modernizing the app. I had previously deleted it due to poor interface. I challenge you to continue adding features and create easy access for users. I ask that the tool access the value of my pensions because they still show a zero value. Also need more tools to invest. I have a roth ira and would like some help investing in socially responsible options. i.e. solar, water access, real estate for low income

New Authentication feature is designed poorly

Was working ok just a few days ago but with the last update to provide two factor - it’s now super buggy to the point that it won’t accept credentials even with multiple password resets. Most iOS users want to use the strong password option where the phone generates a strong password. This is more secure. Especially on an app with financial implications such as this one. Those strong passwords are impossible for the user to capture or write down based on the design of that feature - so we rely on the phone to save it in the password bank. Some apps are seemingly poorly designed so that the phone isn’t able to save the password after you pick the strong password option - so unless you use a “user made up” password that you can just remember or write down, you are stuck unable to login using the phone generated strong password. Is that an iOS issue or the app? I’d say it works 99 percent of the time for most sites/apps so something tells me the design of this app didn’t provide for this strong password feature on iPhones - or at least it wasn’t tested to ensure it works …

The Engine Stalls

I have been using financial engines for the last, almost going on a decade. If my first introduction to this company where is this app, I wouldn’t be giving them any money for any financial advice. While they may be great at giving financial advice, they seem to have invested in a pretty terrible app. The app frequently stalls while trying to connect to the server. I was not able to actually log in and evaluate the rest of the app. The number given by the app and in the developer reply don’t work.Update: still a 1 star app. Updated it. Lost all my log in info and it’s a pain to get it set up

Average

I could be completely wrong and not know what I'm talking about, but I feel like there could be more information that applies directly to my account with easy accessibility, and for a new investor which experience it is a little hard to understand. For instance I see how much the account is valued at but how much money came out of my paycheck to build my 401k. The only way I could figure out that I was losing money was by looking at my contributions on my paystub from adp. Also I see I see the risk factor for my 401k but I would also like to see the risk factor for each of the individual accounts.

Seems good

This app seems to work well it’s pretty easy to understand. The only thing I’m a bit unsure about is the financial predictions the app is telling me, originally it was telling me my health insurance during retirement was going to cost me $13,000 a month... that didn’t seem right and just recently after about a year of using the app it has changed down to about 2,000 with no changes made to my account. I also have the account with someone “managing” it for me. I don’t think anyone is doing much with it because I haven’t gotten any information about changes or options. Overall it’s good for safely storing money I believe but I’m not so sure the advice portion is any help.

*Wish We Could Do More*

Pretty UI. Very informative app that helps you manage your money, make decisions for yourself or have FIN ENG manage along with you. Wish we could customize in better detail instead of going to the employer portal to make more important changes. Kind of defeats the purpose of the app in my opinion. Also, I have two 401k’s. One Roth one standard. There isn’t information in this app or FIN ENG that I am aware of.
