Great game, great port!

If you haven’t played this game, I can’t recommend it enough. Voice acting, art, story arc, and gameplay all top-notch. I played this on ps4, but with the 60fps and the IPad Pro 12.9 display, I feel like it’s even more polished and beautiful. And the load times are so much faster on the IPP. It’s makes a real difference. I’m using my ps4 controller, and the controls are the same as the ps4 version as far as I can tell. Some issues with the controller pairing, but fixes with shutting down the game and restarting. Aside from that, I’m just really excited that such an expansive game made it to iPad, and I hope there will be more such games to come!

Exceptional optimization but slightly buggy.

This is easily the best turn-based RPG on iPad platform, for they made a current-gen triple a title playable on mobile platform, which is incredible. However, note that minor but annoying bugs exist. First, there are false alarms on storage. The in-game downloaded seems to ignore the already downloaded parts while calculation space, causing players to make up more room than the game needs. Second, there are random occasions where touch control does not respond. A game worth buying but would be perfect if bugs could be fixed.

Controller can not open map, please add a map option !!!!!!!!

Dear developer. I’m sorry for 1 star but I have to report a really annoying issue about the map button of this iPad version of DOS2. 1 star is only for better noticed by you and I will change it to 5 stars once I received your response.Since most of the third part controllers will emulate a DualShock 4 wireless controller, and this is the problem! Because they don’t have touch areas to open the map!! I have a 8bitdo sn30 pro+ which is really comfortable to use but it cannot open the map in DOS2. I also bought an ipega PG-9083s for iPad mini 6, but it also cannot open the map because all of them are emulating a DualShock controller in IpadOS.I’m really loving this game and loving playing it in ipad, please add a custom map option in setting to remap the map button. Really thank you!

What the iPad really needs.

I have been using an iPad as my portable computer since 2013. The hardware has come a long way since then, but we don’t have a lot of developers taking the platform seriously for “real,” high-quality games. A big release like will hopefully change that trend. This is an excellent port. The graphical quality is outstanding and the framerate is incredibly stable. It’s excellent that full keyboard and mouse control has been implemented; there are a bunch of games already in the app store that could benefit from this, but almost no developers have taken advantage of this since Apple introduced mouse support more than a year ago.As far as the gameplay is concerned, I think people know what this game is by now. If you want a spiritual successor to old school crpgs with some modern updates (combat is way more engaging than in Baldur’s Gate, for example), that’s what’s on offer here. If you’re at all interested in that kind of experience, then $25 is a bargain considering the amount of work that’s gone into this title, the length of the game, and the replayability that’s inherent to these kinds of games. Just buy it.

Great game, but a crash on startup will brick the game and require re-install

This game is great when it works. I am running the game on the latest 12.9 M1 iPad Pro so it should run great. Every once in a while though the game will crash on start up while it is generating the shader cache and if it does crash during this start up it is impossible to reopen the game without an instant crash. Restarting the ipad does not help I have had this happen to me four times already, every time I have had to delete the game and reinstall completely. Thankfully I have been backing up saves through iCloud, but this is very annoying. This game would be absolutely perfect in my opinion if not for this issue.

Amazing!!!

It’s just like the pc game!! It runs really smoothly. You don’t need a internet connection to play unless you are wanting to save to the cloud so you can cross save. Speaking of cross-save, it works perfect. I currently have 3 profiles and 4 games saved and I have access to all of them . I don’t know what the max number of profiles you can have but I’m not sure there’s a limit. There are so many options for game play you want to try all the things which leads to multiple builds. There is so much more I could say about the story and characters and the very fun Gift Bags you can use to enhance your game play. But…The most important thing that makes this app the best is there are NO IN GAME ADS an NO IN GAME PURCHASES… AMAZING!!!! Once you buy it you are done paying. I love you Larian Studios!!! Thank you for giving this to us on iPad, you are beautiful people! 🥰❤️💕

No Apple Pen Support

A masterpiece of a game, want to badly give it 5 stars, but for some strange reason… dev provided “partial” apple pen support. (I use apple pencil 2nd gen) very odd decision. Ergonomically speaking, way more comfortable using apple pen. This game SCREAMS for apple pencil support, because of the tablet form factor and how in the game.. we tap things, to do things.. clearly match made in heaven with apple pencil. Some of the benefits: —————- precise aiming when making selections- get to things quicker- less stress on joints, wrist when playing for hours- improves very relaxing segments (try playing outside by campfire - super fun, and relaxing if had apple pencil support) - huge quality of life overall improvements. —————THE APPLE PENCIL (2nd Gen) ISSUES: tapping on some elements with apple pencil works, but other elements it won’t work, example: • trying select conversation won’t work, have to use my finger. • tap on the screen with apple pencil so character can move to said location… it won’t work, have to use finger. • there are many more which are easy to recreate, just try playing with apple pencil and the issues will immediately become apparent Extremely hit & miss with apple pencil. Please dev fix this, this is a classic masterpiece, give it the apple pencil support it deserves.

Amazing game, excellent port

Divinity 2 is my favorite game of the last decade, and I couldn’t be happier they made it available on the iPad. The writing is the perfect blend of adventure, satire, surreal, and moving. I loooove the flexibility of the world - there are so many ways to take care of quests and advance to the next step. Beyond that, the sandbox they let you play in is extraordinarily well crafted - it’s on par with Red Dead 2 in making you want to explore every crevice and interact with every character before wrapping things up. I also just ADORE that they made this game multiplayer. There are not enough games that offer a world with this kind of depth and nuanced character building while also allowing multiple people to play together. If you are going to play with other people, I STRONGLY recommend laying down some ground rules on how you interact with NPCs. Otherwise you will often run into moments where one person accepts a quest, and another inadvertantly turns it in without a lot of clarity around what just happened.I really, really hope Larian makes this a regular thing - I would love to see Baldur’s Gate 3 eventually make its way to the iPad.

Cross-Save is Ponderous

First, the devs deleted my original review where I was confused about the ability to cross save between my PC and iPad. Now I understand this is possible, I also understand it is like I am in the 90’s with the process that you have to use. For those that do not know, you have to use iTunes, cables, and drag and dropping of files.I have the original Divinity, Divinity 2 on the PC/Switch/iPad, as well as the new Baldur’s Gate 3, so I am absolutely a fan of this studio and the product they put out. But I absolutely not a fan of the archaic cross-save process that is needed from the iPad and PC. This should be automatic and wireless the same as the Switch. Larian should use the Steam Cloud API at the very least.Because of this, I will only play this game on my iPad and Switch as it is way to much hassle to fire up my PC, grab a cable and go find save files and use iTunes (which is horrible for file transfers) to drag and drop.Again, this solution that has been put in place downgrades the overall experience with this game.

it’s a good game, but not a great one

This game is loaded with great features that takes gaming on the iPad to a new level of interactive RPG gaming. I have been playing this game on my new iPad pro 5th gen 12.9 with the M1 chip for a while now and, although the game itself is enjoyable to play, there are some issues that make this experience a little disappointing. First, if you play the game on touchscreen mode, there are some delayed reaction issues when interacting with the game where I had to tap some buttons on the game multiple times before the game reacted. Secondly, there needs to me a more user-friendly interactive map in which you could tap on a specific location on the map and make the party move to the desired spot instead of having to exit the map, then scroll around the immediate area all the time to move the party (I’m not referring to fast-travel, which is also a nice feature); and finally, this game needs to allow the user to set different graphics levels; during game play, my iPad tends to get overly warm. I’ve played many other games on my new iPad and this is the only game that causes the warming issue; switching to a lower graphics setting may remedy this problem. Although the game is a good RPG gaming experience, I’m giving this three stars based on these concerns. For the hefty price this app demands, I think these issues should be considered.
