Better off using desktop version

I thought it’d be more convenient to have the app rather than going through a web browser, but boy was I wrong. It lacks a lot of features that the desktop version has and it’s hard to navigate. I can’t edit my profile to the full extent or view things like my bio and links. Also I can’t see any Art that I post, it’s all marked as “mature” on the app even when it isn’t anything bad. When I went through the web browser though, I could see it perfectly fine. I’m not sure if this is only a problem for me, but it’s annoying. I really didn’t think the app would be a big issue for me, but I can’t really do anything except look at what other people post. Even that is buggy sometimes. I’d recommend just using the desktop version through a web browser, having the app is practically pointless.

Crashes when opening the app

That app itself is fine the only problem I’m facing currently is that it started crashing whenever I try to open the app I don’t know why it’s doing it but it’s a little bit annoying

Want to like it, but it’s been broken recently

Recently they’ve changed the way searches pop up which makes it impossible to find what I want, especially compared to the old system. Also I cannot load my collections as only a few pop up and it bugs out when I try to find the others, although I know the other collections still exist. Lastly, when viewing anyone’s collections, I cannot scroll more then 10 images down before getting an infinite buffering. These issues occur on both the app and website versions, I used to like going through DeviantArt but now there’s little point in using it as I can’t even save and then look back on anything I look at, or find anything I want to find in the first place.

Improvements needed

I’ve been a DA user for years, but there’s some things from the browser version I prefer over the app. For one, i hate that there’s no option for a light mode in the app. As a user wo has a lot of bases saved, most are transparent, it’s a big eye strain to look through my saved bases without a light background. Another oddity is that sometimes when I’m scrolling through my bigger save folders, the app would CRASH! Which is such a pain, especially when I’m halfway down my page and have to restart. My final nitpick to say is that I don’t have as many folders as the browser. I know they’re there, but they don’t appear in the app.In conclusion, I LOVE using Deviantart, but the app has some flaws that should be corrected.

Lacking desktop features for mobile…

I’m giving it a 3 because this app does have potential. However, there’s no buttons to actually join or search for groups— you can only click on “Watch” and that’s it. I find it very odd that they didn’t add the “join group” feature for mobile. I’m new to the app and I really do enjoy it, however the app is completely different and lacks many features. Along with that, the app crashes, the scrolling is a bit off or “chunky”, nothing loads properly, etc,.I think adding buttons for joining groups and maybe fixing more glitches and bugs would improve this, along with the focus on the report system or dealing with art theft. Not many people can stop art theft but reporting and deleting the accounts that do these things can help out a LOT. Please, please add some new features and fix all the bugs, the app really does have potential. The desktop version is also very confusing for me, so I have to use this app…

Buggy

It’s just been getting buggier and buggier honestly. In the app nearly every time I’m scrolling down through someone’s gallery or even my own favorites, when the next ‘page’ is supposed to load it just acts like there’s nothing further and doesn’t scroll any further. On the app as well is a problem loading the rest of your folders in favorites. The only ones that may load when this bug happens are only the first ones you can see above “Featured” while in your favorites and somethings will reload for no reason. Sometimes clicking back to previous page from a piece of artwork will send you all the way back to the top of the page and it is beyond annoying, and it crashes a lot. For the website the newest issue is pretty much the same as not being able to see more folders. The only difference I’d say is they appear to be there but you literally can’t scroll on the screen. You guys should reeeeaaally fix this.

Why for my choice

Why I’m giving this version of DA a 3/5, it’s good, but can definitely be a lot better, one thing that makes me a bit angry is quite a couple features of this version, you have more options on the web, but not the version from the App Store, kinda rigged, especially for people with DA blocked on their web browser. So they can’t sign in as well, which you have to use the web browser version to sign in. Which is stupid!! It would be a bit better as well, if it wasn’t so buggy, but you have left this for 8-9 months now, no fixes to this version of DA. Are you actually picking favorites? Also there should be more things for the art, you are allowing 18+ art on here, and allowing art thief’s to keep stealing art from artists. Which makes us, the deviants have to watch each other’s backs. It’s gotten quite annoying tbh

Inability of notifying messages

plz add notifications for DeviantArt messages as a feature. It’s a basic necessity every messaging platform has. The app’s notif system would notify me everything except for messages having me to manually check. Notifs for DA messages should’ve came along with the new messaging feature itself.

Art is wrongly being labeled as mature content?

I joyously hop on and off of deviant art to post and look at people’s refined art! But when I last posted, my art was blocked off; labeled as mature content! I just posted a simple picture of an warrior cats oc that I was working on for a while now, and your team just blocked off my art and labeled it as mature content so now nobody can see it. It’s just disappointing, because there is nothing wrong with my art. My art is completely normal, there is no blood or inappropriate content, etc. yet you guys go out there to “block” my art because it’s “mature content”? Is it my art style or something? Because if it’s my art style then that’s just even MORE disappointing because I can’t change it anytime soon yet. But if this is a bug then you guys have the responsibility to FIX this glitch because it’s annoying and no one can see my art. Yours Sincerely, Slightly P*ssed Off Customer
