Why do I have to get a book to use the app?

I liked the old Color Alive because you could print the coloring pages out and it wasn’t necessary to have a coloring book. I think that Color Alive 2.0 would be a lot better if it had the option to print or save to photos with the coloring pages rather than buying a book. If the app was updated to have the same features as the first color alive (like maybe an option at the beginning to choose which color alive you want to use?) and also to have printable pages to scan or save to photos so that it’s more efficient to use the app.

Not cool

My son just got the Crayola color alive easy animation studio as a gift for his birthday, he excitedly opened the package put it all together and started coloring in the design booklet only to find out that this version is not supported anymore and the original color alive app is no longer available for download. On the Crayola website we get a cheery sorry for any inconvenience message. Please help me understand why the original app is no longer available. Or better yet please explain to my nine-year-old son with autism why is no longer available and how to get this to work. I can understand having a new app but why make it where you can’t use the old app effectively making obsolete his birthday gift.At least offer a refund or trade in.

Amazing, exciting and fun

First off the ones having trouble with the original color alive go to crayola website-download is there. The 2.0 coloring books have pages that are a little slippery. Using crayons and markers to color works the best. The colored pencils work but not as bright in my opinion. Once you scan your image the magic is so much fun. My daughter really enjoyed being able to take a picture with an image she colored. We also enjoyed how we can add animation to each picture as well.We also discovered that you were able to make a copy of the picture and colored in as well. As long as the border is there everything will work.We picked up our two books at the dollar tree and went out and paid regular price for a few more. They are well worth it and it’s highly recommended by a nine-year-old!

Discontinued original version-not all books work!

We just spent money on the magical creatures book, but apparently it requires the original Color Alive app, which is no longer available on the App Store. The kids were so excited, spent hours coloring, only to find out their book doesn’t work with the new 2.0 version. Please stop selling books that do not work, and remove the alert on your 2.0 app that tells users to install the original version from DAQRI which is no longer available. We would give much better reviews if the older content for the original books was included in the 2.0, as it should be.

#BringBackColorAlive

So I bought 2 of these bad boys at a dollar tree in Torrance, that being the Skylanders 2.0 coloring book and the zombies coloring books, and after some tests, they work. I don’t know why this app is still here considering Color Alive is basically dead now, but hey, 2.0 still works. My only complaint is that for some reason, just because this app exists, they got rid of the original Color Alive for some reason. WHY!? Why did they have to get rid of 1.0? People still use those coloring books you know! Why would you just discontinue Color Alive 1.0? It was actually really successful and popular for its time. So I’m calling to you Crayola, Bring back Color Alive 1.0! Or better yet, bring back the series in general for a new Color Alive 3.0 app! How about that! Everyone! Say it with me! #BringBackColorAlive!

A different experience

Unless they’ve made some major changes and fixes, I don’t know how the reviews I’ve read could b the same app I got. First of all, before you begin, they tel you that this app is for 2.0 version, hence the name...and if u need the old version, get it. Just because they don’t Include a link doesn’t mean it isn’t EASILY available. A simple search leads u right 2 it. One bad review I read was mad because he couldn’t use it because he didn’t have WiFi. I’m serious. It’s amazing to me that people actually dissuade people from trying something because they didn’t ‘get it’. Anyway, I downloaded it today, immediately colored a page n real quick cause I wanted to see if it was gonna even halfway work (after I read all the negative comments), then scanned it and viola, the magic happened. I didn’t even go through everything the app does cause I was excited at the fact my picture was now on the screen (my phone) and I could control the character. I took some pictures of him n my palm, like he was actually standing n the palm of my hand, and a picture of him spitting fireballs at my sleeping dog. Too cool. Give it a try...I think you’ll like it. Our kids will probably like it too, lol.

Just Why?!...

So I was going to try to learn how to animate today and I find my old color alive book with the mannequin and everything so I read the step by step instructions and I go the website it tells me to go to and it just tells me SORRY, THIS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD but this is freaking messed up! This is for children to trying find something fun to do like learning how to animate and they would go to the website and find that! I hope people read this review see this the same exact way. I might still use this if you can re add it because I use at least half of the stuff you sell! But all I know is I’m ordering a new animation pad so I might not either way. So I hope people read this and react the same way. I’m done writing anymore of this review so goodbye and hopefully they give us back the app.👋😕✌️

Confirmed by Crayola: Version 1.0 no longer available

My kid spent his own money on these books, so we were determined to figure this out. We called Crayola support and they confirmed version 1.0 is no longer available. However, they quickly offered to send us two $4 coupons towards another purchase.I gave an extra star for effort, but so much for brand protection. My kid’s first experience with Crayola was pretty negative. I hope Crayola knows the price for this kind of sloppiness. At least update the description of this app to be accurate!

Buyer beware: Your kids are in for a major let down, and it’s heartbreaking

There is nothing that upsets me more than my kids getting excited about something and then watching them get upset because it doesn’t work. This was one of those instances. My son had been begging us for skylanders color alive coloring books, so we finally gave in and purchased. He was so excited! He spent SO MUCH TIME coloring them, only to find out that the app is NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD. So we spent money on a fancy coloring book that was useless. I could have printed coloring sheets off the internet for free! Shame on you Crayola for removing an app that you know kids still use AND selling coloring books that are useless without it! Wouldn’t expect that from a company that caters to children!
