One of the best choice-based games out there!

Many choice-based story games always seem to follow the same formula. Your choices never felt like they mattered and, in the end, they really didn’t. You always ended up at a same (or similar) ending, only slightly altered to fit some of the choices you’d made. But not this game. Every choice felt like it matter. Every little choice could, on one hand, save someone that you’d befriended. But that choice could also as easily get someone killed. It was a toss up and that’s what I liked so much about the stories in this game. It always has you on edge and makes you wonder if you’re making the decision. I’d definitely recommend giving this story game a go and play through each of the stories, especially if you’ve been looking for a ‘real’ choice based game for awhile. Also, I’d recommend purchasing the story pass. Not only does it make the experience a bit more enjoyable, but also allows you to support the developers and the writers who made this incredible game!

Heart-wrenching in the most amazing way

I hardly ever leave a review if I’m not getting anything in return (not nice, I know), but I just had to say something about this game. Choices That Matter drew me in right off the bat with its first story, “And The Sun Went Out.” I’ve spent so many nights literally losing sleep over this game, it’s crazy. I could not put my phone down. Personally, I quickly formed an emotional attachment to the characters, and found myself taking way too long to make certain decisions throughout the story. Despite the fact that I am extremely satisfied with the ending I got, I wouldn’t mind playing this story over and over to see more possible endings. This is truly an amazing game, and I absolutely cannot wait to read the other two. Thank you so much.

Loving it so far

I’m still working through “And the Sun Went Out”, but it’s absolutely incredible so far! The plot and characters are extremely engaging, and it just keeps you wanting for more! There are consequences for your actions, which I definitely like. (Which is a low bar, but it really makes you want to choose the best option.) And I absolutely LOVE the LGBTQ+ inclusion! It made me so much more excited that it existed (and the fact that you didn’t even have to choose romance as an option as well)! There are choice tickets where you typically have to watch ads to get them, but I’m totally fine with that as, a. it’s a free app with free stories, and b. you can just keep watching ads to get more! The app works pretty smoothly and the format is neat and readable (though my only complaint is that you can’t go back a page to figure out what it said if you missed it or accidentally tapped twice). Otherwise, everything is really, really, good, and if you’re interested in choose-your-own-adventure stories, this is definitely one to pick!

My favorite CYOA game

This app is just perfect. It encompasses 3 stories right now. I read “and their heroes were lost” first before going back to “and the sun went out.” I love how you get so many choices. Sometimes, you don’t have the information to make an educated choice, and I love that because it’s how the situation would actually be in you were there. The writers really carve out a realistic and believable world for the stories. The music is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I also loved the fact that you can watch a ton of ads to get 3 tickets which is very generous. Although some may say the interface isn’t developed enough as other episodic games, I actually love the simple interface more. It lets you concentrate on the story, the plot, and your imagination rather than cementing how people or situations look. I like a little imaginative space. Nothing but rave compliments for this app!! Definitely buy if you love CYOA games!

Overall very good

1st story: I really like the Sun story. Pulled me in, and really liked the interaction between Moti and the main character. The ending I got I would consider very good. For a moment I thought it was not going to be good but I was able to turn it around. I will replay this story.2nd story: it took a little bit to get hooked, but once I had a clear vision of the imagery, I was hooked! This was very interesting and honestly, someone should make a short movie about this. Out of the three, this story made me feel like every choice I made actually mattered. I think the ending I got was the most realistic ending. 3rd story: I liked the premise, and I was hooked instantly. The story dragged as I got into the middle, and found myself skipping through a lot of dialogue. Some of the choices in the middle seemed redundant or it would ask me to make a choice on events that didn’t seem impactful. I want to play it again and see if I get a better ending. Edit: just finished my 2nd play through of the 3rd story. It really takes you for a ride. And what makes this one stand out is that it takes you on a wildly different journey than the first playthrough. I think I got a good ending but it ended so abruptly! I will play again and see if I can save all of camp amnesia.

Awesome, but a little creeped out.

This is now my favorite app. I have just finished 'And The Sun Went Out', and I adored (and slightly hated) the ending. Though I could go into much detail and all the things I loved, I shall not spoil the ending for new comers to this lovely game.Though, I'm a wimp. I get really scared really easily. When I tapped on 'And their Souls were eaten' it said I had to be 13 or older to play this game. I'm 12. I'm slightly scared what I'll encounter when I start this next game when I turn 13. If I get nightmares (which doesn't happen often), I'm deleting the app, but overall, amazing game.I have a few issues to report. First: Sometimes I press a certain choice, and it does the opposite one. I was in a collapsing building and it gave me the option to save someone or run away. I chose 'Save someone', but it had me run away instead. I do not know if this is the actual consequence that happens, or it is actually a glitch. Second: You have spelled a few things wrong. Minor things, really, but I have noticed you spelled 'please' as 'pleaes' and 'on' as 'en'. Not that big a deal, though. This game makes the characters come to life. The wording is amazing, the choices are tough (especially in the end), and the whole aspect of the game is incredible. I am very much excited to be playing 'And Their Souls Were Eaten' and 'And Their Heroes Were Lost'. Great job, Tin Man Games!!((Etienne and Moti 4 life.))Sincerely, LupinLover15

Awesome

I just finished as much as I could of “And their souls were eaten” (until the next update) and it was really good. I read through some of the ratings and noticed something. People were having trouble with the apple watch feature, but i think there’s a misunderstanding. Firstly, you have to press the settings icon, click the button labeled settings, and turn apple watch feature on. Secondly, the apple watch feature (for the story i did) only showed certain characters diolouge, not the whole story. I don’t love this, but I do think there should be an explanation within the app so people aren’t confused. unless you do these steps, the apple watch app doesn’t work and just shows the app icon.

And Five Stars Were Given

I started playing “And The Sun Went Out” and I was absolutely ensnared by the captivating story! This game is absolutely fantastic! Never have I encountered a choices based game that was as friendly and reasonable as this one! This app never forces a negative outcome that I didn’t outright cause, like other similar games that punish you for being curious and making choices freely. This app builds a wonderful narrative and does not give all the information you want to know right away, I was left wondering who exactly my character was until I explored further in-game. I also extremely enjoy the ticket/choices function where you can wait for tickets or watch 15-30second ads for 3. This is a fantastic system and I can guarantee that I helped the developer’s ad revenue increase significantly! Overall, this is a wonderful app and I can’t wait to finish the first story and start the others!

And Then There Were Ads

Don’t get me wrong I fully understand and support the use of ads so developers can make money. In fact, I appreciate the option to watch ads to earn tickets to progress in the story. However, there’s an ad after almost 2-3 clicks. I thought purchasing the 100 tickets would stop but I still get the frequent ads which is annoying because I can’t get I got the feel of the story. I want to give it a higher rating bc the atmosphere and story are so good! The fact that Moti can appear on my Apple Watch is so immersive and makes me really feel a part of the adventure. I suggest they either choose a better time to show the ads (ie in between arcs or during slow moments of the story) or give an option to pay for no ads (which I will gladly do!!). I sincerely hope they take this into consideration bc I love everything about this game except for the ads 🥲

An incredible app, with magnificently well-written stories!

When I first downloaded the app, I had been let down my so many others that my expectations were set low. I started with “And Their Souls Were Eaten,” and had my expectations blown entirely out of the water. The stories are immersive, well-written, and allow you choices that actually impact the story without bringing about death and destruction to your party. The characters are lovely, usually all charming in their own right whilst being entirely different people. My favorite part about, at least, “And Their Souls Were Eaten,” is the lack of defining characteristics that the main character is given. You are free to be whatever you’d like in the story, without gender labels—a feature most apps usually miss the mark on.
