Pure junk. Do not purchase.

I have tried multiple times to get this camera to work, or to use the app on my phone (iPhone 11). This set up is pure junk. I can’t see what I am shooting, I can’t access the library when I am done. Worthless and a complete waste of money. Don’t buy it!

This Is Crap

If only we can give a 0 Star. I downloaded the app, put the sd card in and let my grandkids take pictures. When I tried looking at the pictures with the app it says disconnected. The app just keeps closing itself. Total waste of time and money. Lesson learned don’t buy anything Canon

Let down completely

After a long summer waiting for a cool new product to make it’s way into the market I am let down completely after recovering the camera in the mail and subsequently downloading this app yesterday. The app has no instructions, disconnects from the camera as soon as you try to view photos, use your phone as a viewfinder, or do basically anything that has to do with the two devices communicating. Hopefully an update that is SO DESPERATELY NEEDED will be released soon so myself, and the hundreds of others that backed this project from the start can enjoy the product we saw a reason for and took a chance on.

Not good

I turned on the camera, downloaded the app connected the camera to my phone / the all and it looked like it was going to be a really cool and exciting buy. I was able to see the video live on my phone and it seemed to just need the micro SD to start working. Then I installed the micro SD. The camera has trouble connecting with an micro Sd inserted, strange. I then tried a different micro sd, still problems.I opened the app and it automatically installed some kind I’d update. Then when I finally got the shutter to work and pairing mode on, of course, the device wouldn’t connect to the app any more. The app doesn’t work correctly, the IVY camera itself has trouble connecting when there is an SD card inside of it. I don’t know if this is a refurbished product, if the app is busted or both but at this point frustrating buy.Hoping to call canon customer service and want to see what they can do for me.

Don’t get all the bad reviews.

Great little camera that takes good pictures. The app and camera connect just fine. Perfect for outdoor trips or anywhere that you don’t want to risk damage to your phone.

Frustrating/Disappointing

After previously using canon camera and the apps that correlated with them I was eager to try out this new easily handheld camera with a seemingly user friendly and functioning app. Unfortunately after downloading the app it became clear that it was not user friendly, after tinkering with it for a bit I was able to connect my camera, or so I thought. Although the camera “connects” every time I go to try and access the photos (which is the whole point of this app) my device attempts to and then fails as each time the device disconnects. It is extremely frustrating because one of the main appeals to this device was the app, hopefully they will improve upon this

Terrible implementation

The app is supposed to be the viewfinder and the photo/video viewer of the camera. You can can do NONE of both. So not only you have no idea how you are framing but then you need to remove the SD card every single time you want to see what you have shot. I'm sure Canon os going to fix it eventually but talking about a rushed Indiegogo campaign and releasing something that is not ready. So my recommendation is stay away from any Canon crowdfunding projects. They execute poorly.

Good concept, poor execution

I was an early supporter on Indigo and was hoping this would be a worthy replacement for my Polaroid Cube+, which I loved. Sadly Polaroid has not upgraded the iOS software. So far, I am disappointed. Hopefully the mini cam app is the problem and not the hardware. The app is slow to connect, slow to use, clunky, not intuitive and constantly disconnects from the camera. The app is definitely not ready for prime time. Not impressed with the photos so far. The button is very hard to push and makes it hard to hold the camera steady. I’m guessing anti-shake is not built in. I’ll dig out an adapter and look at the pictures on my MacBook. One tremendous opportunity missed, if feasible, was using Apple Watch as a viewer/shutter.

Worthless

When they say “some images may be simulated” they mean Live View. Apparently that major feature—what I bought the camera for—doesn’t actually exist yet.I can live with the disconnection issue; it reconnects quickly. But a camera that’s dependent on a feature that IT DOESN’T HAVE? If I wanted something I have to look through to take a picture, I’ve got a DSLR for that. If I wanted something smaller that still needs looking at, I have my phone for that. I seriously do not understand who the customer base for this is—people with smartphones who want to keep their phones in their pockets and carry a second device with none of the capabilities of the phone cameras that they necessarily have? I don’t think those people exist. I am not a happy puppy. Thankfully, I bought this retail, because it’s going back tonight.Update: Returned the camera. Deleted the app.

Lost connection Bluetooth and WiFi

The app doesn’t work. The unit connects on iPhone through Bluetooth and you can change some settings but as soon as you click on the remote capabilities and image gallery where it connects through WiFi it disconnects the Bluetooth and fails to connect.

Description

Get the most out of your Canon IVY REC Outdoor Camera with the Canon Mini Cam app. When paired with a compatible mobile device such as a smartphone, you can use the app as a live viewfinder to capture photos and videos, and even use it as a remote shutter with a timer. It also keeps you informed about important settings including battery life of the IVY REC camera, remaining image capacity for the MicroSD card, video recording resolution (720p or 1080p), and image size.

To view and share photos and videos, the app lets you wirelessly transfer them to your compatible mobile device to print, share and edit. Additional features will be provided in future updates.
