Well not the best choice maybe!

I have been using these Broadlink Switches for a while now and have found them not to be very dependable. I have 8 of them installed and out of the 8 I have installed half of them lost connection and 2 of them would never sync to the hub. I have sent messages to Broadlink support as the ones that lost connection were past these returnable dates and there support team hasn’t got back to me on what to do with these switches. I think it might be time to start looking at other smart switch supplier’s which kind of stinks because they are a nice looking product just not dependable as far as functionality goes. The other problem is these do not fit the older style boxes you have to use a box extension that allows for wider openings and may have to cut the wall to accommodate these. I added 3/4” spacers behind mine to extend the boxes out for the circuits. Great idea from Broadlink but they really missed the mark on a dependable product and customer support hopefully they can improve there products and customer service in the future. Normally I would recommend a product that is good and functions like it’s supposed to but however because of the short coming with these I will not recommend these to any of my friends or others looking to create a smart home setup look elsewhere for now.

Smart remote really works.

Had a little issue(s) getting out of the gate. One was login to smart things or samsung during setup. Once I got to setup screens and 4 pr 5 times I was close. Then realized we can relearn after alexa is initialed with Broadlink file. Cant quite give 5 stars as even though app brings up menu cant get alexa to understand the button or function. Also although I was able to get 1 fan remote to work app works and again Alexa wont turn light on. I didnt get smart remote for fans so turning fan on via alexa is a bonus. Discovered you can create several devices on BL for high vs medium on fan then create Alexa routine for each works great ! It wrks quite well to turn on tv and cable, volume works and oddly no channel on cable box, use volume and channel works. One more bonus... try them run of the mill remotes the size of a matchbook got them all to work even w/ the remote control receptacle plug in module (3/$25. Score. All in all 4.72 STARS. I RECOMMEND.

Almost there

This is great. Love the Roku remote. Also love that I can consolidate all my ir remotes as well. I also like that the rm4 mini broadcasts devices over wifi so that google assistant recognizes and controls them. My issues are as follows: The interface could be just a tad better laid out. I don’t like that my Roku remote is in a separate page from my Ir remotes. Another issue I have is that you can’t assign Roku to a room, scene, or group. I can deal with it though. Channel browsing and search within the Roku remote would be a plus. Widgets are half way there. Only 4 virtual buttons are allowed in the widget. I Would love to see more virtual button widgets or virtual button cards. I want to access remotes and functions without having to wait for the app to load and/or execute a scene or remote launch. This leads me to my next issue. The app seems to stall at times when using the non virtual button widgets. Roku remote widget will also be cool. Other then that I think this app and device is up for big things if they keep on developing. Looking forward to what’s next.

Great RF and IR Controller

Devices are easy to install, Scripps are easy to add, and overall the UI is clean and laid out well. Since I have been “playing“ around with IT for 38 years and this type of home animation sure I could say there’s room for improvement. That is because I am picky and would like to see continued improvement of course. The main thing I would like to see (unless I just don’t understand) would be the ability to add remotes to the scripts vs. just the devices so that a script cannot only turn on and manage the devices but also be coded to switch to another input and then used to the controls provided by that device’s remotes. For example adding a Roku device adds it as a device-type remote and therefor there is no way to navigate the controls for that device within a script because it is classified as a remote. Example use case in a script:- Turn on device TV and use its controls to switch to HDMI (which is a Roku) in this example- Then; within the same script select the Roku remote and use its controls to switch to an app on that device. For example Netflix. Not a showstopper but certainly would be highly desirable for many similar use cases

Still needs a way for full custom remote and design

The original e-control app allowed you to create a 100% custom remote with not only the buttons needed, but also design the buttons on the screen yourself. This new version still doesn't give the full custom option of a manual grid configurarion so I can't create the buttons I want. I still use the original e-control app instead at this time until this is able to be done with this app (even though e-control isn't updated anymore and has some quirks). Please update the app so fully custom remotes can be configured with custom buttons and custom grid configurarion.

Excellent!

This Smart Plug model SP4D-US works great. I can control this device using the 5Ghz network from my Xfinity router, which gives me the range needed. The device was set up on my 2.4 Ghz network and then moved 100 feet away to my adjacent garage where it connects to my 5Ghz network. I can switch devices on and off from inside my home using this Smart Plug. I tried this setup using a competitor’s model (2.4 Ghz only) and had no success. This Smart Plug is one of the only devices that will enable one to use the 5Ghz network and it works very well for me.

Temps in Celsius

Even though you can change the temp t Fahrenheit it still is only every 2 degrees. I got this to use as a thermostat for my window/ cassette ac units. It works pretty well. The AC units o lay read Celsius on the Ac remote. And the temps in Fahrenheit are only every 2 degrees because it’s based on Celsius. The routines work pretty well. Would be better if you could copy one routine to another room or schedule it every half hour. To program something to happen every hour or at an exact temperature (instead or rising to or dropping to) you have to program it to happen at a time. For example if you want the ac to turn on at 77 or higher but it’s been off you have to program it to check every half hour / 15 min the temps out will turn itself back on. It’s doable but tedious. The only repeat option is daily not every hour 1/2 hr or 15 min.

Worked as Designed

Bought this device to control my blinds rollers. I initially had difficulties connecting it to the WIFI, because my router had one single SSDI for both 5 and 2.4 GHz. I went as far away as possible from the router since the 2.4 GHz will be dominant, and I was able to configure the remote. Once connected to the router thru the WIFI, connecting my blinds by using the learning signals procedure was a piece of cake. I was able to create a routine for opening and closing the blinds, and so far it has been working flawlessly for the last two weeks. Very pleased with the performance. Thank you.

Assisting Senior Parents with TV Remotely. Finally!

Online forum after forum of people looking to help their aging parents control their TV. Even simple handheld remotes cannot prevent our elderly parent(s) from losing control of their TV and cable box at times. After years of searching, I found the inexpensive Broadlink RM4. Not simple to install. But, it is not too hard either. Be patient, follow instructions, be prepared to try again. Now, my elderly mother can use her handheld remote (Flipper), ask Alexa for help, or call me when stuck. Miles away, I pull up this app and solve a huge frustration for my mom. Highly recommend this product. Deserves every star of the five.

Excellent - Words Can’t Describe How Happy I Am That I Found The RM4 Pro

I had initially purchased a Logitech Harmony Hub and the experience was a nightmare. The app is terrible, the device unstable and unreliable and really hard to get working. The fact that I can create individual scenes with specific button presses is all I ever wanted from a smart universal remote. This works flawlessly and consistently and it’s super user friendly and easy to use, with a slick and powerful app. Don’t let anyone dissuade you - this should be your last stop in the quest for a universal remote with voice assistant capabilities...
