User Reviews for Basic Concepts Assessment

this will be helpful in assessments.

I really like this app. Please make it score the assessment rather than allowing the child always to get the correct answer just by continuing to hit different objects. right now it will work great with the teacher sitting alongside to monitor, but it would be even better if the child could do it alone and the teacher could see the results. definitely another winner for Alligator Apps. Nice graphics and a wide variety in the assessment. thank you!

Great

Apps is great! My dilemma with the app are two minor things. 1. change the variation of the feedback given : how many times can a child hear the same "Good Job!" 2. When a child choose the wrong choice there is no beep or anything, when he does choose the correct one he gets a good job. Other than that I think app is great!

Assessment or Teaching tool?

I loved the program as a teaching tool. As an assessment tool, not so much. No data collection. The program allows the user to choose until the correct response is given. It's simply searching for the correct answer. An assessment program provides data. This program has the potential to be awesome; just add data collection and remove the check marks when the correct answer is given.

Alligator App

I've come to expect high quality from Alligator Apps and am never disappointed. Graphics are clear and concepts are divided well. I read other reviews and agree some data collection would be great but that doesn't change my rating. (I know how to collect data.)

Good idea

This app is an excellent start. The pictures of sheep are a little confusing. It was hard to clearly tell which sheep was going through and around the fence. I like the idea of the child moving objects above or below the line, etc. The wording for asking them to move things to the ground or in the sky was confusing. Maybe change that up a bit. I got this app for free. I would pay if it tracked the score and allowed a wrong answer. Right now nothing happens if you click on a wrong answer. It just waits for you to click on the correct one. It would be great if it allowed child to click on the wrong answer and tracked correct/incorrect responses for assessment purposes. Great idea that needs a little tweaking!

Awesome app

This app is a really great informal assessment of basic concepts. More fun and engaging for children than a standard paper assessment. It's also interactive so in some slides the child identifies the concept and in others the child has to move the object (above, below, etc). Really well done. Look fwd to using with my speech students. Thanks for a great app

sup

This is a good app. Positive aspects include nice graphics, a variety of concepts by category, the "parental gate," and some interactive features (like move the balls to the left). It would be greatly improved by: adding data feature; allowing user to choose which concepts (so the user does not need to complete concepts that are already mastered); option to swipe to next one. Some confusing concepts: sheep around the fence does not look like "around"; baby with ball in front vs baby with rattle in front should say touch "toy" in front if teaching concept of "front"; Move ball above line worked when I put ball on the line; bugs were called "animals", etc. Great start to a useful app.

Pre k slp

This is a fantastic app. There is time to talk about the pictures after you choose the answer. The variety is good as well as the option to tailor. The sequence and negation a are more difficult to hear. If the volume is turned up, then the reward sounds are too loud( which you could turn off anyway). This is a great app to purchase.

Great start

I love love love how many different opportunities the kids are given to demonstrate the skill. I think there should be more feedback to show the kids when their answer is incorrect. A wrong buzzer sound draws their attention to a mistake more than just simply not allowing them to choose in correctly. My students respond more when they are shown they are incorrect and then given the chance to correct their answer. That instant feedback is an integral part of my therapy strategies. Thank you for such a comprehensive view of these concepts. I think that I will definitively be incorporating it into my therapy to help my students. I also loved the objects that can be manipulated. Being able to demonstrate instead of just choosing from a field is a great way to show complete understanding of a concept. Maybe offer different levels??? :)

Great idea!

This is a great idea, and so helpful to have the concepts separated into categories. I agree with other reviewers who would love to see it take data. I understand not having feedback offered for wrong answers in an assessment, but my student quickly learned to click all the pictures until she got a right answer. Also, I would love to have it set so that the student can't answer until the verbal cue is given. This is still very helpful, and I'm sure it will keep getting better.
