Not fancy but works

Used the app to help install a new antenna in the attic. We live in the city but there is one weak station that needed a really direct line. The AR feature got me pointed towards it and I only needed a little fine tuning.

Good ideas, poorly applied, information relayed is out of date

One of the best uses of technology is uninformed my iDevice’s camera for precise aiming; kudos for that great use of the tech at hand (literally). Some information that is presented is inaccurate for my media markets (Providence and Boston), and the usefulness is reduced because you don’t tell me what the channels’ transmitting frequencies are. For instance, where I am, there are three VHF frequencies used: 2, 7 and 12 (for 36, 12 and 64, respectively). Why not include the frequency of transmission, and sell the best antenna for those frequencies?Lastly, you have misidentified at least two things: 1) WLWC’s transmitter location moved years ago, 2) WHDH is identified as the NBC affiliate, but it has not been the NBC affiliate since 1 Jan 2017. I’d be embarrassed at these inaccuracies.

Station Antenna Locator

This locator is easy to use and it list the strongest stations for the area within 75 miles. Beyond 75 miles get a satellite receiver. I use it in my camper and it works very well. You do nave to me able to know north from south and East from west. I just point the antenna in the direction indicated and fine tune it with the built in tv signal meter. I do recommend this app.

Recommend

Being a tech for satellite this app is awesome! The negative reviews are literally just the end user not understanding how this and their phones work. I recommend this to all the customers that I talk to. If you don’t understand it call Winegard!

A Little Bit of a Learning Curve...

Once I determined exactly how to use this app it works great. I was able to use AR mode to position my OTA antenna in my attic to the best spot to pick up around 25 channels. The picture on my TV is beautiful and the HD channels don’t pixelate.

Never shows satellite on my screen

Downloaded and tried using to locate yellow satellites. Never see anything. Azimuth never changes only elevation. I hold it to the sky at the approx elevation and wait a few minutes, no yellow satellite. I even move slowly left and right, holding it. Yes I’m looking at the SW sky. There are no instructions as to how to use it. I see an arrow that points down, and one that points left. Means nothing to me.

Biting my tongue, here...

This isn’t going to be pretty, but it’s intended to help. You are a legacy CONUS company. There is a great move taking place with people wanting digital independence. **There is zero excuse for the most robust onshore hardware manufacturer to have an unusable app.**You need to compete, dammit. You need to fix this high school level app and make it the best in your industry or we deserve to be overrun by offshore providers. Do not do it in house. They don’t know what they’re doing. You need to tap on a station and the thing should point you toward it. I swear I think I could buy an app-making app and do it. And no. You cannot hire me. HIRE THE BEST AVAILABLE and stop playing “almost okay.”Get it together. We need to be doing things better for ———s sake.

Satellites keep disappearing

Try to find satellites show up for a couple of seconds and then disappear. Go off of location and come back satellites appear then disappear again. I can never view the satellites long enough to try to see if the satellites are in the clear. When I first downloaded the the azimuth was way off from published data and now with the satellites disappearing this app has never been useful.Based on recommendations, I did calibrate sensors, but that still does not answer why the satellites disappear from app after only a few seconds on screen.

Okay, could be better.

Recently downloaded app and found that while it shows me the various towers, I’m not sure of their relative location to my present location. It does not display any map information just colored range rings. No roads, Lakes, towns just nothing that can be used to verify direction. And I did allow it access to my location. AR mode is okay, just have to guess at the bearing to the tower. It’ll do I suppose until something better comes along. As it stands I hesitate to recommend to my fellow RV’ers.

Not enough, by far

There are apps out there far superior. Since you’re an antenna company, including directional antennas, I thought this app would actually use the phone to point toward the tower, not just give me a map with tower locations. I know where they are generally. I need to know where they are specifically, with at least compass degrees to point the directional antenna. Deleting.
