They trap you so you have to buy or exit before you can even try the basic functions - don’t bother

They trap you so you have to buy or exit before you can even try the basic functions - don’t bother. If you aren’t willing to buy it in trust. Don’t expect to be able to check out even the basic functions. You get in and start using it. After just a couple clicks. Every click brings up the sign up screen and you can go no further . If it’s a time trigger then figure on less than a minute. Just on principle for these tactics I’m not signing up. Because odds are they’ll pull tricks when you try to cancel so it’s difficult to stop any payments.

Amazing! Game Changer

I cut the cord about two years ago and have been canceling one service after another as they started adding commercials. This morning I came across this LG TV plus app, I’ve been for about one hour and I absolutely love it. How refreshing to see such reasonably priced app ($20 for life!!) improve so dramatically. It’s a whole new TV watching experience. I hope it continues to be a great service without commercials, but I am happy to pay few dollars to avoid them. The services I’ve cut are ones that continue to charge me and also show commercials. That is a no go. Nope. Its great to know that there is a company out there still producing a high quality product at such at a phenomenal price: $20 lifetime membership!Love!Thank you!

Not LG. Will not even adjust audio unless you pay.

Like most who find this app, I was looking for an app to replace a lost remote. The app plays itself off as an official LG product, but isn’t. (PS the real LG app is free and work fines) I found this out after I had already downloaded it, but figured as long as it did what I needed it to do I would give it a try. It literally would not even adjust the volume of the TV. If you press any remote button it will just take you to the page to purchase the “premium” version. Some apps you just have to pay for, no big deal. But if you literally don’t offer a single feature for free than you don’t get to pass yourself off as freemiumware.

Third smart tv app I’ve tried, third time I can’t use any of the arrow or select buttons

I don’t know what it is and the immense difficulty and technical manpower it takes to make a tv remote app, but I’d say the number one essential thing after volume and power is making very sure that the users of your premium application doesn’t have an essential function of navigating a smart tv completely unusable. Thanks LG, I don’t know if it’s your app, or your TV but either way it’s your fault. I guess buying a new remote after the battery cover broke won’t be a big deal after all. It only took giving them more money before being burned on another purchase.

It works but not worth the price IMO

My kids lost the remote to my LG TV so I went to the App Store to find the LG iOS remote. This one appeared to be made by LG so I downloaded it for free, then right away was nagged into purchasing it to get rid of ads and unlock the premium features. Once I realized this was not the official LG app I went back and found the real one. It’s the LG Thinq app, which is also used for all of the other LG IOT connected devices. I regret spending money on this TV plus app even if it was on sale. It does very little that the official app doesn’t do and the experience and flow of the LG app is better. I was sold on the screen mirroring feature that this app claimed to do, but I cannot get it to work for the life of me. I was able to upload some home videos and play them on the TV, but it was extremely difficult and frustrating to even get that to work and could only upload one at a time then go through a drawn out process from the very beginning to get another to load. The track pad is practically unusable because it’s way too sensitive. A tiny movement makes the cursor fling all the way across the screen. I cannot recommend any purchase this app. Just download the LG Thinq app and it will do basically everything this app does and better

Almost perfect

I lose track of my remote a good amount. This app is almost perfect. The only thing that isn’t great is the app seems to time out after a while but only for certain functions. So I will be able to change the volume, but not control whatever is playing on the tv. I get why the app can’t turn on the tv, since the tv can’t connect to Wi-Fi while turned off. But I feel like there should be some way to keep the app from going inactive or whatever is happening. The fix is just to close the app and reconnect, but it would be perfect if this was fixed

I would give this 0 stars if I could

TLDR: don’t waste your time with this app or LG they are both trash. Just another huge company trying to nickel and dime customers after they have already purchased their product. Not only did I pay a lot of money for a nice LG TV the remote that came with it is trash, so I decided to try and download this app expecting it to work like the normal remote. Instead the app has a touch pad that is terrible and hard to use. And to put a cherry on top you have to pay $20, that’s right TWENTY DOLLARS, to be able to turn the volume up on your TV using the app. Or God forbid you don’t want to use the terrible touch pad “technology” LG so graciously gave us and would rather use arrows, too bad you have to pay premium for that too.

Promising but Ruined by adds and lag

Compared to LG TV Plus app the layout of the controls is improved. Easier to jump back and forth between controls. BUT - clicks on features quickly brings up adds to buy premium which gets annoying very quickly. The cursor control suffers so much lag it makes it unusable (as you get the cursor close to the target it flies past over and over as you try to correct). Further - ideally the menus one is flipping through would be on your phone because as your attention switches to TV screen you don’t see the boundaries of the track section on your phone so your finger frequently goes outside the area and up comes adds to buy premium. Arghh! So annoying. Get the “LG TV Plus” app instead.

Really?

I’ve had this app since I bought my tv. It’s annoying because it doesn’t always want to connect even though my tv and phone are on the same network. After the last time it didn’t connect, I decided to delete the app and download again. (I just needed to turn my tv off and back on). Wish I’d known, because now I can’t use the app without being charged? Get the crap would I want to do that when I should be able to use it for free as I was as other tv apps do and after already paying for the tv? So far I’ve liked my tv and was thinking of getting a bigger one to replace another one. I don’t appreciate anyone or trying to get over on someone though or ripping them off.

It alright

It’s convenient to have a remote app on your phone and I don’t mind the $20 subscription but the only thing is you have to turn on your TV before you start using the remote. I don’t know if it’s just my phone or if it is a glitch, but whenever I connect to it and the TV’s off and I press the power button it says “are you sure you want to disconnect?”. I’d also add that when your phone turns off or you go off the app, the controls don’t work and the only thing you can do is control the volume. The input button doesn’t work either, it just takes me to the lg store. I’ve found a work around but I’d rather use the input button than the method I’m already using.
