Needs updated features

This app is awesome. They have a thorough database of movies and I love that they have the images along with the movies as well as having them in categories. The biggest problem is how long it takes to check off a movie that I’ve seen. As of now, I have to click the movie, click the + and then click the check mark all just to add it to my “watched list”. It just seems very inefficient. I think adding a feature where I can either swipe left to say, “add to watch list” or right to “add to already seen” list is so much more efficient and would make it much easier to navigate so I don’t feel like I’m taking forever to add a movie to either list. Or even just holding down on the title of the movie to check it off would be a better way to check movies off. My final addition would be to have categories of movies by year or decade. It’s a more efficient way for people to check off the movies they have seen. For example, I was born in the 90’s so it would be easier for me to start with movies in that era and the early 2000s when I really began watching a lot of movies. A good app and a great idea just needs some updated features to make it even better!

Good for Indie film watchers but one major issue

The basic version of this app executes its purpose well. It allows you to create and track movies you want to watch and ones you have watched. You can also create custom named lists.Because this app is backed by TMDB, you have the option of adding films through TMDB that might not have IMDB listings. As someone who watches a lot of independent films, I found this very useful and set this app above other similar apps. The biggest ongoing issue I have with this app is the inability to set the 'watched' date. That date defaults to whatever the date is when you add the film to the Watched list. When trying to import large historical lists, not having this piece of data is unfortunate.

Great App!

I love the UI of TodoMovies and the pre-made lists are very useful. The gestures and sorting options are also quick and intuitive. My only complaint is that ratings can only be made out of 5 stars, allowing for only 5 different ratings, which I find to be very confining. I have found that 5 star systems are unfortunately common among movie apps. However, TodoMovies is superior to every other app I've tried, except for its rating system. This is an outstanding app for tracking movies. If the developers allowed for 3.5/5 stars or 7/10, I would happily give this app 5 stars and buy the pro version, as it would easily be the best in its category. (See LaLune, Cineast and IMDB for examples of how to implement such a rating system.)

Great but could be even better

I love this app, as a constant movie watcher. It's the easiest way I've found to log the movies I want to see and check them off as I go.There are a few suggestions I have for the developers that could really boost this app's popularity. First, ability to sort movies in my lists by overall app score, not just my own, especially in my todo list so I can see what others liked.Second, include third-party ratings like RT and IMDB in the descriptions - some people will choose movies based only on those ratings.

So many movies. So little time.

When someone asks me what my favorite movie is or even when they ask about recent good movies I’ve seen, I always draw a blank. I’ve seen so many and I love so many that I almost can’t even remember any of them. I’m so glad that I found ToDo Movies. Over the past year I’ve been slowly adding all the movies I’ve ever seen as well as all the movies I want to see.Now when I turn on a streaming service I have a go to place to figure out what to watch instead of trying to scroll endlessly through a collection of crappy movies to figure out what to watch. I scroll through my To Watch movies and it always helps me find something to watch. It also helps me wait until movies have reached Netflix, HBO, or Prime to watch them so that I don’t rack up a bunch of rental fees.

Potential

This already at this point in time is phenomenal and allows for great customization and organization. The news section as well is very useful. My only complaint is that it feels like the app could have extra potential features that would take it to the next level, such as searching for other user’s lists, and up-to-date TodoMovies lists. Regardless I highly recommend downloading and paying for no ads as this app is great for any film fan.

Amazing App. One Fatal Flaw.

I love this app. I am a big film buff and my watch lists have never been so organized. I also enjoy the unlimited custom lists option that cost $4.99. Well worth the money. But there is one flaw to this app that MUST, MUST, MUST be fixed by the developers. There NEEDS to be an option to sort by ORIGINAL release date, not by a random re-release. For example, currently Star Wars (1977), A Trip to the Moon (1902) and Nosferatu (1929) are listed as being released in 1980, 2011 and 2009 respectively. This infuriates me because it leaves an inaccurate picture of when movies actually came out. If the developer sees this review, I ask that you fix this bug and I will declare your app to be perfect in every way I need it to be.

Essential!

I love this app so much! I watch a lot of movies, and used to keep a list in my computer of every movie I watched, because occasionally I forget whether I've seen a specific movie already. Not this app does that for me and makes it so much easier to keep track. I upgraded to the paid version so I could create my own lists. My only fear is that one day I'll try to add a movie and be told I've reached my limit. I don't know if there is a limit, but I have over 600 moves in my to watch list. If this app ever crashes or is discontinued, I'll be so lost!

Love this app!

I love this app! It’s great for tracking movies you’ve seen and you wanna watch. I think it would be cool to have the ability to search list (you have Top List) but I would love to be able to search for list. It would also be great if it told you where you could watch/buy it. But the features it has are great! I have recently bought the pro version and I love having all the extra list! I would also love to see an account feature where I can log into the same database from multiple devices without having to share it each time.

Good Until It's Gone

To Do Movies is the best movie list platform I've seen since Jinni went offline. Exhaustive movie database, including an impressive catalog of indies, foreign films, old silents, and shorts. Although the number of lists you could have was limited, the list feature (as well as ratings) worked well. The Discovery feature could have been better - To Do lacked Jinni's versatility and relevance in searches and recommendations. But mostly good. However, if you ever have to delete the app (say, if you periodically delete and reinstall apps to clear out storage space), say goodbye to any effort you've invested in tracking your movie watching in To Do. They don't have a login feature so nothig is tied to a profile and saved - it's 100% app data. I even tried "upgrading" which they claim lets you keep an unlimited number of lists (and theoretically a way of saving them) but could never get that function to work within the app. So every movie I've listed as Watched, Want to Watch, or rated within the better part of a year? Gone. If To Do adds a functional account feature, I'll be back, but not until.
