Fascinating History App

If you are a history buff, you will love this app. What I like most about it is the brief snapshot of what took place in history on a particular day, as well as famous birthdays and deaths. Then you may click on any event or person's name which takes you to a fuller or more detailed account in Wikipedia.

Best in class

This app is very well developed, rich experience, interesting, and fun to use. Quantity and quality content. It offers great content in a way that uses what iOS has to offer. Unlike other history of the day apps, it’s not simple one sentence items in lists with WikiLinks. You can save items and share too. I’m not too sure how up to date or complete the content is so I keep similar apps to check that I’m not missing things. But this is the app I spend time in. I especially like the Categories section. Wide range of topics and information. Very cool!

I'd Give it a 4 1/2 star rating, overall awesome history

Allow customization to your history. I like American history because im american Good quotes of history, needs to be organized a little better. A few tweaks here and there and I'd give it a 5 star rating. This app is great for history magnets. Give it a better search option for all countries and in depth details on that day and hours(if available) of how it played out.Anywhere from early morning in 1775 during the American Revolution War with Britain all the way to Landing on Normady Beach on D-DAY. But overall very useful.

Whose history?

Although I really enjoy seeing what happened on this day in history, I have a problem with all the “important“ people whose birthdays are on that day… I don’t want to seem overly American, but most people I, who knows a lot of history, have never heard of. I really don’t care that’s some cricketeer born in the 19th century has a birthday today.

Version 5.0.1 Bugs

Up until this version I would give the app 5 stars but the latest has a couple of bugs I would like to see fixed before I give 5 stars again. I have used this app for years. I am a history teacher and like to tweet out On This Day (#OTD) information. The share button has been convenient and easy to use until the latest version. I believe there is a bug, when I click on one of the references at the bottom, instead of bringing me to the link it returns me to the list of events. Also, in previous versions, when sharing an event, a link to the information was added to the tweet, but that no longer happens. Can you please fix these bugs? Thanks!

Solid content but losing their direction

In terms of the content, this app is pretty solid. Love the daily history. A few months ago they got rid of the links to Wikipedia. Major dislike!!! The Wikipedia links were so useful for when I wanted to know more about a subject- now that option is completely gone. In the past few days, the app has been crashing A LOT. Like, I can’t read through a day’s history without 3-4 crashes. Between that and losing the Wikipedia links, I’ve begun looking for another history app. If they bring back Wikipedia and fix the crashing issue, I would come back- but it’s a real problem.

Needs Tightening-up.

Generally... a good APP. I really enjoy the feature with daily “Pop-ups” of the .... To the tune of 4 to 5, maybe six, each day. It’s the very first thing I inspect on my device each morning!! My only real grip is, oftentimes, the picture or photograph or painting accompanying said “Daily Happening” is so far Off-base as to actually not even apply to the tidbit I’m reading, and learning, about. This is a major disconnect, in my view, and should be easily remedied.

Love it!

Well arranged. So much information and detail. I read each category in the morning with my coffee. Of course then I go through some days and have to share Did you know? Lol. A wealth of information . Absolutely wonderful. Definitely “my cup of tea”.

Overall it's pretty good

I think this app has a very broad and diverse amount of historical events that it displays. I always learn a lot, and I'm very appreciative of its mix of sports, politics, arts, etc. However, I do feel there are some major gaps. For instance, I haven't seen any events after 2014. It's 2017, and lots of major events (especially celebrity deaths) have occurred in the last two years that are not included on the app. Secondly, pop culture history is often not included. For example, major release dates of movies and music albums that have been considered by many sources to be iconic aren't included. A movie like The Godfather or Singing in the Rain should have mention, and I've just never seen those dates, but easily found them on Wikipedia. It's impossible to include all historical information, and I get that, but I'm hoping the developers continue to update it, as history happens every day.

Overall, I enjoy using this app

I’m a history junkie. I like knowing what happened each day. I would like to be able to learn more about what happened without having to leave the app. Also, I hope the developers update the database as time goes on.
