The missing link

I’m a 50 year old guy. I have kids 9 and 11. My dad was raised by my grandfather who fought in WW2. This app has been the missing link between understanding the old school behavior of the 1950’s (that was passed on to my dad) and modern times where I am raising my kids. I now understand things like brain chemistry, the primitive brain and many other knowledge that my dad and grandfather did not have access to. If you asked me to describe my relationship with my dad…I love him unconditionally, but I would also say that there wasn’t a guide book back then so, he learned how to raise children from my grandfather. Well, here’s the guide book, the missing link. I’m only half way through the app and I already feel as if I have the power to change so much in my life, with my kids, my wife, my dad, and everyone else I’m in relationships with. Thanks Matt, for introducing this to me!

The Happy Child and Deep Emotional Bonds

This app was a joy to use. Literally. I looked forward to completing the exercises and learning. I felt happier after each section I completed. I struggle with my 8 year old daughter’s meltdowns and we had one just this morning. As I completed the app today, I recognized what I had done correctly in dealing with the meltdown and felt confidence and peace. The information in the app can be applied to every relationship in my life that should have deep emotional bonds. I learned what deep emotional bonds are and how to achieve them. I think my biggest take away from the app is how easy it is to nurture a healthy connection with your child and that it doesn’t require every ounce of your being to be a really great parent. I am truly thankful for the ability to access this information at no cost and appreciate every person who made it possible! I am a little sad it’s over and hope y’all continue to publish more!

Very informative AND helpful

This app clearly demonstrates in a way that make it easy for me to understand what the underlying cause of behavioral issues are AND helps provide me with helpful tips/solutions to fix them. There has definitely been more of a push to focus on mental health to improve parenting and overall quality of life. But to be honest, I did not even know where to begin. These videos and lessons clearly outline what is important and how to make the necessary changes for a positive improvement. Also, I thought this would be just for kids.. but I am seeing how it is helping me. Understanding the little chemicals in our brain that makes us feel the way they do and understanding which are short term fixes VS long term fixes. I recognize that I can also use some of these tips on me. Plus, as a big bonus for me, the app is visually pleasing. The messages are clear and the videos are interesting. It holds my attention and I actually learn... rather than starting a parenting book and putting it down before I get any valuable information. Would definitely recommend to parents ... but I truly recommend this app to anyone trying to learn more about themselves and get some key tips and solutions to improve their quality of life.

Really great, helpful information!

I love how this app breaks down information into small, easy to understand lessons. The videos are very short, so it’s very easy to just spend a minute on them. This information is very accurate. I am reading other parenting books as well, and this is similar to those. I work in mental health, and love that this is so updated with current scientific facts. Seriously love this! I can get done with the entire course so fast! Probably within an hour all together. I can rewatch and reread it a few times after to really get it stuck in my brain. Rewatching and rereading is something that is not easy for me to do, since it usually takes me quite a bit to get through things that are packed with tons of information (i.e. a book). If it’s fiction, I can read for long periods of time, but non-fiction is harder for me to keep my focus on for too long. This app makes it so simple and easy - I don’t have a hard time following along! It’s worth it, completely. It’s amazing that it’s free. I think these lessons taught are EXTREMELY important for raising our children.

Free app…yes, it’s free & SO worth trying

I just downloaded this app yesterday, and so far, I have received EXTREMELY helpful parenting tips and advice that I literally never EVER knew. So far I’ve not gotten one single notification of having to pay to further continue…(which I expected to get by this point…so far, nothing has required any payment) which is surprising these lessons are EXTREMELY insightful, not only for parenting, but it gives you insight about your relationships and even your self. This comes from somebody who doesn’t give reviews unless I am blown away at the service I received. If this app continues on without any payment, that will blow me away as well. I LOVE this app and still can’t even believe ive received all this knowledge from the lessons for FREE. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to have this because I am broke and can’t afford to buy this right now. I hope I continue to be so impressed by this app.

Parenting tips, education and therapy all in 1

As a new parent it’s hard to know what you are doing right or wrong and how your actions might affect your child. This app educates you without making you feel like a bad, uninformed parent , which I really like. The lessons also help you as an adult and has you think about how your emotions have deeper, underlying reasons for making you feel like that. I found myself looking back at some of the emotions I felt and how I can help myself get through them in the future. It felt like I was taking a condensed child development course with all the highlighted details for just a few minutes of my time everyday. I highly recommend this app for anyone who would like to learn more about themselves or some tips to create closer bonds with your child or any other relationship you may have.

The Science Behind Happiness

The Happy Child Positive Parenting app is an incredibly informative resource for those that are either expecting or currently have children, and even for those that do not have children. The lessons are not thoughtless suggestions on how to be a “better parent,” but rather offer explanations for suggested behaviors that will enrich the lives of our children and as well as the parents. People often forget that human behavior is a clash of hormones and chemicals; this app not only reminds one of their biology, it zeroes in on the specific chemicals that dominate our lives whether it’s realized or not, and advises one which chemicals to maximize and/or minimize. I do not have any children but the content of the videos are informative enough to make me aware of the impact I would have on my child. It also notes that these desired actions to increase long-term happiness are not just for the children but also have a profound affect on the parent(s). This app could be crucial for first-time parents. The app itself is laid out very neatly and is easy to navigate. I especially appreciated how the experience is customized to the user, asking if one is a parent or not. The description of the videos are clear and the questions after each video are especially helpful to ensure one truly grasps the information that is presented. I would highly recommend this app to anyone that is around children.

From content to design, excellent parenting app

If you are looking for an app that is easy to use, well structured, and that helps you focus on what's really important as a parent, this is the app for you. After I recently became a father, I began to search for quality resources to assist in parenting. I have a stressful job, so something that could be used easily and quickly was a must. Also, I wanted advice that had an independent explanation for why it was good. I didn't want another resource that cited itself for its suggestions. With the happy child app, every reasoning behind the advice is explained. The app never relies on itself or "well that kind of makes sense" for its sourcing. Each of the lessons I did focused on making positive relationships and environments with your kids. The lessons had concrete examples of how to do this and explanations for why this worked. Most importantly, the lessons repeatedly emphasized how important deep connections are, as opposed to just brief interactions with short-lived effects. I am definitely learning. The app is also beautifully laid out and designed. The videos and sound are professional quality. Most importantly, each lesson can be done in about five minutes. I've already learned that, when you're a parent, every second counts. If you want to focus on becoming a better parent, want solid advice and suggestions, and have limited time, this is an excellent app for you.

Push thru the awkward, it’s good!

This is really helpful. Presents information in small chunks with a little quiz after each one to check for understanding. I’ve completed 7 sections and have 6 more to go and I’ve definitely gained some insight on how I can be a better parent and partner. I’ve recommended it to my partner. ——————————————————— I have just a couple suggestions. First thing, workshop some other metaphors to capture what being in the primitive brain looks and feels like. “Sprinkler moment” is brilliant but it is not something I have experienced and I’m sure there are others like me who haven’t either. In fact when you think about it the concept of automatic sprinkler belongs to a specific demographic, those with sprinklers in their yards and/or parks and gardens. Crowdsourcing could be especially prove useful in helping you bring this information to lots of different cultures and demographics. ——————————————————— Also want to note that the happy family stock footage and music that plays at the beginning and end of each section personally throws me off. I start to feel a bit like I’m watching a gimmicky late night tv ad. The information stands on its own well without the repeated use of soaring audio visual marketing. Thanks!

Life changer

I just started this app last night and I already feel like my brain is thinking differently. I feel like this app is going to help me gain more confidence in being a parent and help my children feel better about themselves. I hope to get my husband on board because a lot if this stuff brings out the issues that lie between us. I’m really enjoying the ease of all the content and information. I find it easier to understand and navigate through the different emotions I’m feeling while processing the information. I just wish everyone can do this in my family and I wish my parents would of had this tool while I was growing up. I don’t want to make the same mistakes they made and after viewing this content I see where a lot of my mental health came from. I feel confident this app will help me put a stop to this cycle. This app is a life changer!
