Need Manual Option Please

I had high hopes for this app, but as it is— it is currently useless for me. To be fair, the concept is brilliant (hence 3 stars). But I desperately need the ability to *manually* stitch screenshots together. For example, for a genealogy project, I took a screenshot of a webpage (via safari app) which was a list of people with obituaries that is hosted by a county library. I used markup to hide or crop out extraneous info, added a text box to add the url (so I can reference later), and then went to the ancestry app to grab the source citation info and unfortunately I was unable to copy the text. So I had to do another screenshot of that information. Once again, I cropped out the clutter and used markup to cover up stuff I don’t want. Now I want to merge the two. But they are from two different sources so there is no overlap. 😞 Another example. Old screenshots without enough overlap could still be stitched manually. Adding this manual function would extend the utility of this app exponentially. Adding other tools like markup, or the pixelating tool (Skitch), and other useful options would be genius. 💗 So for now, I’ll have to go look for some other app to do this, but your concept is excellent— please continue to build upon it and I’ll happily revise my review. I hope the developer(s) will kindly consider these suggestions. 😊

Transforms the Way I work

As a founder, I constantly need to share and review long “full page” screenshots. Tailor makes this a breeze and I rely on it daily. Websites, iMessage, Twitter, niche apps, you name it Tailor *just* works. Take screenshots normally and Tailor stitches them, automatically removing unnecessary details like repeated headers or mis-aligned browser bars. Such a great free app. My only constructive feedback is that when I first downloaded it, I was surprised that it pulled from existing screenshots. I’d recommend making this clearer during onboarding. Originally, I assumed I’d have to press a button from a Safari share sheet or start inside Tailor. But nope! It uses screenshots already in my library. This behavior makes it a lot more powerful. I just needed more handholding at first. Great free app! I hope the developers benefit substantially from their ingenious creation.

Thought the others were exaggerating….

Like a lot of whiny review authors do: “Gimme gimme gimme but I ain’t payin for it!!! Wahh!! Wahh!!!” I saw the compliment about a tiny app’s free version not working for 100 shots at once, & thought Yup, usual entitled brats…But then I tried it for myself, freshly updated. Short version: It’s 100% just an idiot tax, for people too rich/dim/both to even see if an app has any function before spending money. Billions of people in the world; if even a tiny percentage fall for it: ka-Ching!Details :First, as another review mentioned, it allows you to select just the pics you want to connect, but then won’t do anything or even display them until you grant full pic access. Then, when you do, it has a “no screenshots found.” msg (I have ~2,750 give or take a few hundred) over the many it did find. They (meaning every screenshot you have)?are presented in pairs, chosen by the app, that you must swipe left/right through, with no way to pick for yourself or even expand to a wider view. Just all of em, 2 at a time, and over each it basically says “nope! Can’t do these two either.” And that’s really it, all it does. There’s a Settings-style gear icon in the corner, which contains only a way to upgrade. Let’s see…. If the paid version (subscription at that!) is 10,000x better than the version I’ve seen, then 10,000 x 0 = ?Well what do you know? Zero. So that’s a hard pass for me. Y’all feel free to pony up your idiot tax if you like.

Works great and rarely misses

I actually checked reviews to see if I was the only irritated about buying it early and then having go free, and I definitely wasn’t expecting all the dissatisfaction. It doesn’t always work with text heavy screenshots or web pages, but it’s worked great well over 90% if the times I’ve used it. From text messages, web pages, and even Twitter threads. It’s definitely not perfect, but I hope the negativity doesn’t dissuade people from trying it. Sour grapes over paying aside, I use the app a couple times a month (at least) and rarely have to retake screenshots to get it to work. I’m happy to give it access to my photos and let it scan and do it’s thing — not requiring the effort of manually joining images is the beauty of this app!

Worked great until…

This app has been a real useful tool for me given the needs of having to build lists for multiple projects. I have recently found a critical flaw with the app that I have never come across. I have a series of images totaling 113 images with the proper amount of overlap needed by the app but I am guessing due to the number of screenshots, this being the largest job for the app I’ve ever done, the app cannot handle it and crashes. It now crashes the app on this project that the app automatically pulled in every time I go to open the app. I have tried to scroll past it and it still chokes on these images like it is still pulling them in in the background as I can see it looks like it is pulling in multiple groups whether hi-lighted or not in the active window I am on. May I suggest adding an option to allow the end user a check box on what photo set or date to pull in images from. This way I can bypass the problem job. Or allow a larger number of images to roll in for processing. These are screenshots so it isn’t like I am pulling in XX-megapixel/10-12mb photos each to put on the list. These are kb range .png image sizes. The app is useful until it isn’t. Can’t open it now as long as I have these images which took time to grab from the source.

Mixed Feelings

I love the app when it stitch’s correctly - the obvious stated. However lately when I take say 5 screen shot with an appropriate amount of overlay I will get 2 stitches, the first from 2 screen shots and the second from the last 3, or some combination of 1:4, 2:3, 3:2, 4:1, etc.The problem mostly happens when there is a fixed area of the screen that doesn’t change like a header area. I take the first screenshot, then scroll the page leaving an appropriate amount of overlay under the header and take take another screen shot. I do the same day for the example above 5 times. Next, I go to my iPhone XS MAX and crop the first image at the bottom to remove the thumb bar to slide the app up. Then I move through the images cropping the top header off and cropping off the bottom thumb bar to slide the app up. The only success I have is 2 stitches in the combinations I mentioned above.Another thing is once the app doesn’t get the images stitched right you can’t go back and tweak your croppings. It must look at the dates on the images and not reuse them. It only looks for new images forward to stitch together. As a developer I understand why that’s done yet there has to be a solution that enables you to reset a set of images allowing you to tweak and recrop the set and restitch them.I think the app has great potential.I am grateful for the work you put into this and believe it will be one of the top apps I use.I can’t wait to see further releases.

Good not great

This idea is brilliant! I love the concept and from what I’ve been able to get tailored, it’s turned out mostly fine. My main peeve is that I downloaded it when the App Store was saying it would help when screenshotting web pages, and I haven’t seen that work successfully. In order for things to be tailored, there has to be visual distinction (eg, the bubbles in a text chain) and paragraphs don’t (seem to) have this enough. Might be worth noting I’m using this on my phone, so a larger screen area may produce better success on that front. My other peeve is similar but related to spreadsheet tables. Even if you have a numbered list, the table is too visually similar that it seems to just overlap the photos like a collage, which is interesting but not useful as it becomes unreadable. Note I haven’t seen anything to suggest that would work, but I kinda hoped it would. Honestly it’s a great app and with modifications for the above I would definitely give it 5 stars!

Works great, easy to use

I downloaded this app not even sure what I needed it for. I’ve been surprised at the number of times I’ve ended up using it since then. Has really come in handy, especially for capturing screens of lengthy emails or documents. Some way of manually selecting older screens for stitching from your camera roll would be nice, but not really necessary.EDIT: Tried writing a 5-star review for Tailor, only to find that I’d already written one. So I’m editing my original simply to say, this app is still indispensable to me. One suggestion, after much use, is the introduction of a Crop function post-stitch. I often stitch the photos, then save to my library just so I can go in and crop the resulting stitched image down a bit (unnecessary header or footer stuff). Would be amazing to be able to crop directly within the app!

Great Idea successfully put to work.

This app has worked well for me so far. It’s a little particular about how much overlay must be from each image from the next, but once I got that down I have had no serious issues(that weren’t simply operator error).Got a text message conversation that became an epic novel? Ever try to copy or paste or move that important literary masterpiece from sms to… well… anywhere else and have it available in the same formatting but end up missing sections or you’ve duplicated paragraphs and inserted them randomly out of order in the new document?Maybe not. I’m sure there are other methods and shortcuts I haven’t mastered(or discovered) yet, but I’VE had those difficulties, and this app completely solved those problems for me so I’m completely happy with the results. Thanks.

My favorite app I never knew I needed

So first off, I’m surprised by how low the ratings are on this. Sure, the stitching isn’t perfect and sometimes gets it wrong, but most of the time if you take screenshots correctly (give them as much margin/overlap as you can, more than you think, it takes some practice) then it does all the hard work for you and gives you a wonderful end product. There are way more times than I realized where I need to send or save a screenshot of a long webpage or email and now I don’t have to clutter up everything with a thousand different screenshots, I just have one!! Beautiful idea for an elegant and simple-to-use app. I love it so much I donated, and I never do that. Try it free for yourself.Developers, please the updates coming, every time you send one out it definitely helps. And thanks for the great app!
