Fun in concept but shameless cash grab.

Not enough content to keep you going. It’s over a month since last new episodes and all the events are recycled. It’s the same two during the week and I think at most there are 8 weekend events which have started recycling since the Krampus one in mid-December. The weekend events are nigh impossible to finish without putting at least $10 into it. Worse - the weekend events are 16 tasks but other than the Wrath of Khan one there are no cutscenes after task 10. No Audio either for the stories either …. this game could have been so much more but it’s just a blatant cash grab.I’m sitting on almost 50k dilithium and nothing to do other than doing as much as I can in the events without sinking a dime. Getting new characters is useless without something to do with them. They removed my 2-star rating so that knocks them down to 1-star!

Great beta test.

This is a lovely game. It is a lot of fun and captures the spirit of the show well. It is, however, a beta test game. There is nothing in place to save the game so that you can play you current game on a different device. There are grayed out buttons indicating a future feature. I was considering an iPhone upgrade but I would have to start over from the beginning. I am almost finished with Episode 15. I have made a few small purchases which will be gone trying to go to a new device. I discovered this trying to play my game on my iPad. The game looks great on an iPad. But no progress will move to any other device. The developers are aware that this is an issue but don’t have saves or game center implemented yet. It should be labeled a beta test with some features not working at this time. I would also suggest that until this is working, AVOID ANY IN-GAME PURCHSES!!! If you change devices, all progress is lost.

Cutscenes are phenomenal, the gameplay...ehhhh...

I just started playing this game now that it's been finally released in the USA, and I am of mixed feelings: the cutscenes and main storyline are straight out of the show — absolutely phenomenal, don't change a thing — but the gameplay is a little disappointing, like that it's supposed to be there as time waster filler in between the quick segues into the animated storyline. I wish this game was more engaging (no pun intended). Something akin to the ship management Sim like FLT or an adventure game like Thimbleweed Park or The Secret of Monkey Island, not...this. Not another reskinned idle game that has you tap at intervals and meet imaginary metrics to show you the next 15 second cutscene.Dont get me wrong, the story is obviously crafted with care and reverence, I just wish the other 70% of the game was a omething equally intriguing.

Fun theme, working at getting better

The game is full of good graphics, references, characters, and fourth wall shenanigans that keep the game interesting. It is a fun little idle game with plenty of story to keep you invested in your favorite Lower Deckers and their counterparts (stupid Delta shifters!). While some of the more annoying aspects of free to play are present (impulse buy ads, optional ads for hard won resources, etc) the developers are responding to ideas and complaints. Recent updates have tied a greater importance on strategic gameplay to rewards, they’ve made most of the unique stuff reasonably attainable, decreased over-scaled difficulty on their milestones, and they added fun new stories to boot.

Kinda fun, but incomplete and buggy

This is a fairly fun idle game that’s a slight variation on this type of game (I call them zig-zag games, not sure if the genre has a name). But after a while progression gets very, very slow, which makes it boring. It seems to be incomplete, too, because if you go into the settings, about half the options are disabled. It doesn’t even connect to Game Center, which is a very basic thing for games to do. There are some interface bugs to where some elements will be behind others and you have to scroll to just the right place to interact with them. Plus, there are arrows that will scroll you to something you need to collect, or whatever, but they get stuck on the screen and will take you to a building that is not ready to collect. That gets really annoying because they flash, in an attempt to get your attention, and you basically can’t get rid of them.Don’t even bother with events. Only the top 20 players get a decent reward and you won’t get anywhere near that unless you spend lots and lots of money. Even if you start an event the moment it becomes available and have the multiplier from watching ads going the whole time, and do nothing else in life but play this game, you’ll still not be anywhere near the top 20. They need to break it down by percentages, rather than just the top 20 players. As more people play this game, casual players will have absolutely no hope of ever getting anything from events.

Honestly a nice experience

Didn’t annoy by inundating itself with pop-ups and in-app purchases. I LOVE that this game isn’t ridden with ads like fleas; Any interaction with them is done at the player’s discretion, which is a choice I respect in the face of a game that does want to draw an honest profit. Another game might make them appear by force as a marketing tool. There is character in choosing otherwise.Progression doesn’t fall off even later in the game. The steps forward feel quantifiable and impactful. Having played many idle games this does not suffer from over-complication or blind greed. The attention put into this game’s story feels more akin to a passion project that reasonably wants to make back the funding it was granted. It’s just an honest way of producing something for a large scale IP like Star Trek, and it’s nice that they did a good job of it.Also helps that it has loved characters in Lower Decks’ unique art style. It is a collection I admit to enjoy building.

Fun gameplay, slow gameplay

The gameplay itself is slow by Episode 7. However, I’m playing this for the Lower Decks storylines which have been everything I’ve wanted! I wish they could have had the real voice actors instead of silence. The game sounds are all fan service for sure. The game still plays while you’re away, without the app even running, which is great. You can earn in game items by watching short adds, not bad, nothing else to do in game to pass the time while you wait for points to build up. The vent timer gets hidden by the three sale buttons, they could fix that. Overall I’m enjoying it for the Lowers content.

Predatory even by idle clicker standards

I wanted to badly for this to be a good game, but unfortunately, there’s barely any actual gameplay upon which to form an opinion. The writing and art are fantastic, and they’re responsible for the two stars. The rest of the game…Events are one of the most transparent cash grabs I’ve seen in a genre of game already replete with cash grabs, and the inability to pay for any sort ad-free experience is genuinely mind boggling. Though the prices of individual microtransactions seem in line with many other games, the structure of episodes and events makes it significantly less tempting to purchase any of them; goals are often set so ridiculously high that it’s not even clear how many times you’d have to make a purchase to be able to achieve the objectives.Overall, probably better to skip the game entirely and save the storage space on your device.

Better than Monopoly Go.

Fun game. Very enjoyable. P2W, but that’s to be expected. The only real problem is the Monopoly Go ads. To get bonuses you can sometimes choose to watch ads. If you end up watching a Monopoly Go ad, you have a fifty percent chance of having to restart the game. Why? Because after the ad, it brings up the title card and the exit button. The exit button is embedded in the title card and the entire title card is a link to the download page. So unless you hit the x perfectly, you are going to the Monopoly Go download page. Sometimes I will be trying to hit the x like 30 times, and being brought to the download page every single time. So, yeah. I’m just going to avoid these ads until the stupid Monopoly Go one cycles out.

Good idle clicker, good Trek writing, I’d pay for no ads!

‪It’s good for an idle clicker style game. Also love the writing, I feel like they captured the voices of the characters well. There’s elegance in the Lower Decks game being an idle clicker about menial tasks, but idle clickers only have so much depth. I want more game depth!‬ Even one or two more things where player choice matters over waiting would be very welcome. The events are too short (or milestones too high) to the point you have no chance to earn the milestone rewards before they end without paying money. I get the ranked rewards driving people to spend, but the milestones it’s just feel bads not getting them. Maybe aim for free players earning 75% of them instead of 50%? Then I’d be more tempted to spend a couple bucks to finish them off.Besides all that, other games of this style let you buy a no ads mode for like $10-20, absolutely more than you’re earning off my ads right now. I’d totally do that for this game, but it just isn’t offered as an option!
