Incredible app! Diamond in the ruff

Hands down this app is best of the best when it comes to posing figures for artists. Blows all other apps out of the water.

Shoulders Are Strange

On a real human body, if you raise one arm, that should be higher than the one that is is not raised. On this model, the opposite occurs.

Always gets better

' I’ve used this tool since 1.0. Literally since the very start. You have always made it better and better every year. So much right now, it’s awesome. Truly one of the most powerful tools for an artist. What would really seal the deal for me is having the ability to do facial expressions, and with the newly introduced props/inventory if we can have the ability to fully suit the figure in armor or whatever else would be amazing. Would love to see the ability to add other 3D objects to the scene like buildings, trees, mountains, shapes, cars/motorcycles that the figure can go into or on, ships, houses, doorways etc that the user can tweak to build an entire scene.Something I would still love to see, is a version of the model with head length breakdown of measurements of the entire figure. I would also love to see the box variation tweaked a bit to better morph around the model itself. Or maybe just have the boxes alone in a more gesture style way. Also the gesture line is a bit funky. I love how the head Has the proportion lines, but the gesture blocks the head, so I think this needs to be fixed. I think the gesture function should be reworked to be more curvy and maybe just be the gesture itself but in a more drawn look way. Then I think there should be a version of the model like how it is in gesture with the measurements not only on the head but also for the entire body. From height to arm length, legs, etc. Also a big one. The entire background should be able to be set to a specific color, there shouldn’t be the box area that’s white with the rest of the background another color. It should be unified as one. This is just very powerful. The time it takes trying to scour the internet for reference material is daunting. This makes life a lot easier, and I can still see it being even more powerful than it already is. If we can just get it to that extra level with the things I’m asking for, it can be the go to.

Could use pose presets

Being able to pose the model is great! But it does take a bit of time (just maybe minutes, nothing drastic) to slowly rotate all the limbs the way you want, you have to select the part first then rotate on each axis. It therefore would be good to have a library of preset poses like arms crossed, running etc. Without a preset library, the app gets 5 stars because it's easy, intuitive and the five different models plus muscle map for each gender are great. With a preset library, no other figure drawing app would ever compete ever! I'm thinking of getting another app for just some preset pose photos for when I want to browse through for ideas or practice, and don't have a complex pose in mind. This app could even charge more if it had such a pose library, and thus become a combination of all the best features of all pose reference apps! And it would really just take some time to build a few dozen poses and include them, not much technical work just grunt work. I could do it even.

Woah! I wish I had this in college.

Okay granted I started in late 2008. But this app is easily one of, if not the coolest apps I’ve ever used. I thought I wasn’t going to have any space for it with about 25 apps already on my iPhone, but so far no issues. I got it specifically because I tried a popular photo database app and that lead me to needing more control. I’m drawing a floating character and photography underwater of free divers can be extremely dangerous for the free diver. It has so many more useful features than I thought I was getting. I’m still learning more about it. However it’s incredible how far we’ve come. I was literally looking through a book of poses before and got frustrated. I can control light, angle, angle of the light, perspective, body types, skeletal and muscular layers, outlines, way more posing options than the wooden figures, skin tone options, hand objects and hair. Like everything that’s ever existed, there’s room not necessarily for improvement but additional features. It would be cool to see all points of articulation at once. As well as the ability to reset a point of articulation back to original form and a mode where it won’t bend warp to unnatural poses. You can twist an arm around continuously and the muscles/skin will warp like a cartoon. If I had the money, I’d invest in this. I’m not saying going to college and having models pose was bad. It was fun. You can’t however have naked models pose for you on a plane/in the car/at lunch/on your break because you want draw a woman flying like Captain Marvel or a man standing menacingly like Batman…unless you’re insanely rich or have very dedicated friends.

Solid.

What's good: Complex poses can be achieved very quickly just by doing a few taps and drags. Basic options of body types and gender should satisfy most users. I haven't seen anything this easy on IOS or the Mac. What can improve: Adding a clothed version of the body will be very useful to me. Even if it's just a texture map applied to the body like it's done with the muscle overlay. Saving poses should not have a limit of 20. The whole concept of saving slots seems odd and feels like a Wii experience. I rather it save to iCloud so that I can switch from iPhone to iPad easily. Right now there's no way to export, import or output the final composite as an image. A strange omission since it limits the app's usefulness. I would love to export these poses as transparent PNGs that I can then import into Photoshop for composing. What I would to see aded: Animation! I would love to select two poses and have the app fill the steps in between and save as a movie or image sequence. This will make a great tool for illustrating some basic motion of the body.

Wow

This tool is one of the most useful and well thought out tools for this type of app and purpose I’ve seen. The once you get used to what controls move what axis, the possibilities are endless. I thoroughly enjoy being able to see the emotions I want to portray with body language come to life.My suggestions for possible updates would be to be able to change the heights so you could see the effect of different heights on each other when using multiple bodies. The other suggestion would be to have movement axis’s available on the phalanges when you zoom in and not just the first knuckles.

Overall What I Needed

Once you get used to controls it works easily enough to do what I want and need. It would be nice to have a few features like hair/clothes and to only have rotation that is physically possible, but I understand why someone may want that. Also to stop movement when it hits another part of the body so the arm isn’t going through torso, but again, I can understand why someone may need that. Above all having an undo button would be ideal. Overall, it works for what I need and want it to do.

Good, could use more fine-tuned options

Overall incredibly handy!! Little bit of a learning curve to get used to the spheres to adjust body parts.I’d love more advanced controls for the body type, though — at least an option to adjust the height, if not the weight as well. Slider controls for height and weight would be AMAZING!The ability to more finely pose the fingers would also be nice, as right now I use a second posing app for more nuanced hand positions.

A great app for all level of artists

So far after using this app for the time I had it, I can say that this app has been a very helpful tool. It helps to fill in the void or the blanks that my imagination just can’t fill. Such as finding out how a certain pose will look. And with the props I can better understand how to draw figures holding objects.
