Pianoscaper sounds gorgeous!

Plug your device into a stereo system and turn up the volume to really appreciate the sound quality of this app! The samples are beautiful! Pianoscaper is perfect for improvising over! For the reviewer who received the wrong app from the App Store, I'm certain it wasn't the developer's error and so to penalize him with a one star rating is unfair. And for the reviewer who criticizes this app because it sounds like Hearts of Space... that's the whole point - generative, ambient music! I love the ambient music genre and Rob nails it with this app!

Gorgeous, lush.. fun.. relaxing. Yes. All

Great as a generative relaxation tool, or an inspiring musical instrument anyone can play. Use it alone or with other apps via any inter app audio compatible app. I highly recommend all of the scaper series apps this developer offers. A lot of fun for those who love music.

I love this app…

...along with the other two apps that Rob makes. I have the full version of moodscaper but for the ease of changing sounds I picked up this one as well. I simply open another app and there it is.This app has so much mood to it that it inspires me to record and then layer. Sometimes I layer more from this app, sometimes from others. Even adding guitar to it. It's just a homerun app. Knocked it out of the park.

In one word: Delicious!

A very simple app to use that provides beautifully relaxing soundscapes with piano at its heart. My only wish is that there was a bit more piano, but I'm very pleased with it otherwise and the price is less than a stop at Starbuck's. Mr. Jackson's other app, Moodscaper, is brilliant too!

I hope this app is still being developed...

...because I recently bought it and Guitarscaper. I’ve owned the full Moodscaper for several years. I *really* like these apps, so much that I purchased them in spite of not being updated in a long while. To the developer: I don’t have to have new features, just please don’t let them become outdated or orphaned.

Disappointing

Playback may be different every time, but with the same limited sound set and very little melodic possibility, it quickly becomes very repetitive. Very very limited in what you can do in terms of shaping the sound, pretty much just playing back a set of samples. Not a sound creation tool; more like an ambient sample pack with randomised playback. Sounds like '80s-'90s Hearts of Space music, if that's your thing.

Description

Pianoscaper is a generative music app and virtual instrument that’s easy on the ears and fun to play. Launch the app, and with a single tap of the auto-play button, pianoscaper will create evolving and ambient soundscapes that are unique every time. While all of the pianoscaper sounds originated from acoustic pianos, many have been extensively processed to create an “impossible piano” that can morph between orchestral-type swells and ethereal choir-like sounds.

Think of it as piano DNA taken to the next level! Pianoscaper in auto-play mode is the perfect companion for relaxing, studying or providing non-intrusive headphone music at work or on your commute. You can even set a timer so you can fall asleep to its gentle and soothing tones. You can also play pianoscaper as a virtual instrument using the dedicated keypads and performance loop recorders, and tailor the sounds with built-in reverb, delay and “character” effects parameters. And while you’re playing, pianoscaper can lend a hand by adding auto-accompaniment parts and even provides hints for notes it thinks might sound good depending on which notes you play! As a sample-based instrument, pianoscaper currently supports two “moods” – a happy mood, based on the G major pentatonic scale, and a sad mood, based on the Dm pentatonic scale. Please note that pianoscaper is not a chromatic or MIDI-compatible instrument, and it is unlikely to become one, although additional moods and scales may be added as free updates. You can also record and process the audio output of pianoscaper using any Inter-App Audio host that supports IAA Generators. You are free to use pianoscaper in your own recordings or live events and installations on a royalty-free basis. All I would ask for is a simple credit that includes the name of the app – “pianoscaper”. I hope you will agree the pianoscaper interface, while minimalist and a perhaps a little cryptic initially, will eventually become very easy to use. Please do take the time to read the quick-start guide which can be found on the pianoscaper.com website. This is also the best place to ask questions, get technical support or report any issues. Happy pianoscaping!
