Staying on TOP of Hormones

I started using the period calendar 2-years ago after having a partial hysterectomy to keep up with the revolving hormonal toll that happens every 28-days. I was looking to make a few calendar notes of cramps, hot flashes, nausea and stuff — instead I have learned MUCH MORE about my body than I could have ever anticipated. This calendar has flowers on it every month that point out to me that these are days of Ovulation. Prior to using this calendar I had trouble keeping up with that stuff. At this stage in my life it Really Makes A Difference. I am 48 and officially in menopause and thanks (in part), to this calendar I am not having a scary and unpredictable time. In fact it’s very predictable (hot flashes, chocolate cravings, sore breast, etc) thanks to this chronicling calendar. I also love that it allows me to make notes on each calendar day about intimacies or fluctuating feelings. Thanks Developers! Way to go!

Some good and bad

I’ve been a user for so long. And updates are normal, like updates help fix bugs, and make the app match new styles of the company and apps. But there was a recent update that I myself and others don’t really like. The “log your symptoms” has changed so much. And now all I log in is if my period is heavy, light, medium, if I have acne, blackheads and consolation, and my mood (confused, angry, and calm). Like wth! Those are my only options. Before I could log if I was hungry, if I had back pain, am I bloated, how bad is my constipation, etc. Oh and before the update I could log in my notes etc! I honestly wish this new update kept the format of the others for the symptom thingy because this is the only app that I can use that doesn’t say it’s for 9+ and has chat rooms, and videos on “educational” thingssss. Please take this into consideration before making the next update.

Please put the old design back!

I understand that Bella has decided to redesign everything so it goes with their brand, but now it seems foreign and less intuitive. I don’t like that the calendar only uses a color key now — the icons or pictures that were used before were much more helpful. It was more friendly and I prefer the flower. It was simple and intuitive and reliable. As women we wouldn’t want to suddenly switch gynecologists so why would we want our private little app to suddenly have a new face, and for it to have been resigned as part of a bigger purpose - to sell a brand/goods/services? When I click on app support it goes to the Bella website. That’s not a link to the developers. I don’t feel comfortable with this new look and feel at all. And the comforting flower really didn’t need to turn into an acidic citrus fruit. I spend so much time clicking on tabs and not really seeing things as well as I did with the previous version. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Nobody said this new version is better. You released the change to benefit your business, not to benefit your users.

All-Around Great Tracker

I downloaded Period Diary about 4 years after I got my Mirena IUD. For those first few blissful years, I had no period whatsoever and life was grand. When it came back, I started tracking so that I could know when I needed to have pads and tampons on hand. As I logged more information, the tracker became more accurate and I was able to better estimate my cycle length and ovulation by pairing the app’s predictions with my physiological observations. It also comes in handy when at the gynecologist’s office and I’m asked for the date of my last menstrual period.I am not at the point of trying to conceive, but I imagine Period Tracker becomes even more useful in that scenario. Logging my period makes even that less than fun time of month a little brighter. The app is very easy to use and good at what it does. I’ll continue to use it for as long as I have a period!

Best Period tracking/mood app

This is hands down the best period app I’ve ever tried (and I’ve downloaded and/or paid for quite a few over the years). I’ve had really heavy periods along with intense PMS each month for years, and wanted to try the app to help balance my mood swings and PMS, along with letting me know my cycle better. Along with helping to sync up my cycle so I know when I’m ovulating and allowing me to know ahead of time when my expected period will be, the app also does a great job every day of letting me know additional information like what vitamins I may need, or the best foods to accompany my flow. It also suggests workouts that are best, depending on the time in my cycle, which are great. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my PMS/cravings/mood each cycle and realize my body needed more nutrients than I was giving it.

Everything disappeared

I’ve been using this app for many many years and I needed to get a new phone. Once I got my new phone and re-enterred my password etc the whole app look and even name changed (I even went in and paid for the other app that looked more like the one I had been using but this one cost which my other one was free and on my phone already called period diary and after paying that one didn’t have my info either) AND all my past several years of period tracking all disappeared and there was no one to even contact to find out what happened so now I’m completely starting from scratch which this information should be stored someplace but I cannot figure out how to access it bc the app doesn’t have any contact us or chat place to ask questions or get assistance. It’s so frustrating to have it work great and then all my data be gone overnight. I had it tracking my period to the day but now it’s all messed up. I’m so annoyed by this

Accepting the terms

This app was actually okay until I updated because nowadays apps just shut you out until you update them.Anyway, I actually do not agree to all of the terms, specially the ones mentioning using my personal information for their gain and/ or being able to hackle me with ads pushing whatever products. Also, I did not wish to login through my Facebook since I specially signed up with a designated email. Having me go through FB is crossing the line for me due to the information they could gain from their backdoor access. Unfortunately, I have the dilema of been using this app since my early high school years (at least) and have created MANY notes (due to my cycle and its antics). Agreeing to terms and policy may be “standard”. However, the terms laid before me were not okay with me. It is wrong to *force me to agree OR *I lose all of my data*. It’s invasive, and to use the threat of someone “losing” there data is pure crap.It has the options laid out as if I can choose what to agree to, yet I could not move forward with using the app UNTIL I clicked to agree to ALL of the options. A small disclaimer states that I can withdraw my consent at any time, but as soon as the app was open, it stated that not agreeing to the terms could “possibly” result in *lost data*.

What’s with the new look??

What’s with the new look!?I’ve been using this app for more than 5 years and it has been easy to read and easy to use. My phone auto updated and as I opened it this morning to mark my period, I had this completely different app and look. So different, in fact that I thought they completely deleted my old application and information. That tracking has been very important for me and my doctors...The new calendar looks smaller and is difficult to read, particularly with the numbers of the month kind of floating with no architectural containment. The colored dots, I imagine, are supposed make it clean and sleek but it’s just not. It’s hard for me to see which days are which. When you make notes on a day the little dot changes to black and you can’t tell what kind of day it was supposed to be...which is the whole point of using this app.If someone didn’t like the screen on the previous version of the app, they could change the “skin” or the design. Upon looking in the user guide, it says that you can change the appearance in the settings...but there’s no option the settings menu for appearance—so you can’t. You should be given the option to have a similar calendar or other appearances to make it easier for different kinds of women to use. We are not all looking for the same vast clean whiteness. Some of us need a structural look. Also, did not appreciate the being taken by surprise.

Idea for Improvement

This is a great app, I really appreciate the ease of use. The ability to keep notes on each day. I just have an idea to improve the weight feature. The temperature feature when activated by double tap is automatically at 98.0 which is average for most people, however with the weight one it is automatically at 110.0 which is not as average for every person using this app. Weight is very fluctuating for many and I know that for myself, I have to scroll a lot to get to my weight. I feel like there should either be a way to type in your weight or if you keep the scroll make it so when you double tap it to activate it is set at your last recorded weight and then you can scroll and adjust from there. Either one would be more efficient. Thank you for this app and I hope to see this improvement in the future!

AWFUL update and privacy terms

After using and loving the app for 3 years, I will be deleting it. It used to provide me with a free, straightforward, and very detailed way to log my periods, all symptoms and moods, and the severity of those symptoms and moods over time. That is all I wanted from this app. Unfortunately I can’t get that anymore. The latest update is garbage; the new graphics and emojis used for logging details are so annoying and off putting. That aside, they got rid of the ability to catalog the intensity of any symptoms (i.e. back pain or acne) other than flow, which was super important to me. You also can’t input any form of birth control other than the pill. The tradeoff I got for a decrease in functionality is tabs/ads for superfluous workouts, meditations, etc. that are not free and that I don’t want, and being forced to agree to the selling of my data (hello even more ads) to even get into the app after updating. Will be deleting as soon as I copy my past data over to another platform. Not sure why they had to ruin a good thing.

why did you ruin it????, Feb 19, 2021
