Need new update for app crahes

Just got my new Pro Staff rimfire rifle scope today and one of the selling points for me was the Nikon spot on app they offer. So, I downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store onto my iPhone 6. After the download was completed I opened the app and it worked good, added all the info to app like it said and hit fire. That’s when it crashed. So, I tried again to get it to work and it crashed again, again and again. I did a little review research and found out that this app have been crashing for over a year now with iPhones ( don’t know about other brands). I think that this app has the potential of being a good to excellent app, but until Nikon’s application development team fix this problem the app will remain one star for me. Hopefully, Nikon read these reviews that everybody put out and live up to the Nikon name.

This app works. I have yet to have any problems with I phone. To test app I spent at least 2 hours switching everything, no crash problems. Thank you Nikon. Great products at what I call a justifiable cost. I was going to spend 3k+ on a scope. No need. Once you learn the power settings and understand the mirage calling wind you don’t need a reticle that looks like a box of tooth pics.

Nikon App Flat Out Works

I’m very surprised and somewhat skeptical to read so many negative reviews. I got the Nikon SpotOn app many years ago after buying a Nikon scope. I’ve used this app year after year for mid to long range shooting and hunting in conjunction with several Nikon scopes (only brand of scope I currently buy now). This app has assured me shooting solutions for first round hits on targets down range, when I do my part of course. I would go as far as to say that this app has been essential at even putting food on the table for at least two longer range hunting shots on Pronghorn that I would not have taken had it not been for the ballistic charts and tables provided. Thank you, Nikon.-Colorado Hunter/Shooter

Buggy

I own the inline xr 300 mainly because of the spot on ballistic ap. Gave me confidence in my set up having a basic idea of yardage on each power and drop down point. Recently moved my zero from 100 yards to 150 yards and now the ap just crashes during bullet selection process. Just because nikon discontinues production on something doesn’t mean people owning the product don’t still use it. The cost of shooting a black powder isn’t cheap sure can’t afford burning through dozens of loads figuring out my drop downs. Basically have useless 300$ piece of equipment beyond 150 yards attached to my smoke stick now. With drop down points obstructing my view and the scopes ability to be used in low light conditions.

Love this app

I was surprised after reading many negative reviews how well this app actually works. All my standard ammo is preloaded and the only way to describe is it’s amazing! The tables are also easy to use!I think there is still a glitch that needs to be fixed with the estimated atmospheric conditions by current location settings. I’ve turned on location and I get the “circle of death” waiting for the data to load. Until this error gets fixed, I load the data manually with info from a weather app.Overall, I love this app and find myself comparing ballistics data from different bullet makers to add to my ammo collection.

*not a* Very good app (updated)

Update - used for years but now appears that Nikon sabotaged the app when they abandoned the rifle scope market. What a huge disservice to their loyal customers over the years.——-I use this app frequently. The data is excellent - very useful at the range and in the field. The interface is a bit clunky. I would like to be able to save specific ammunition selections, or at least be able to search by typing rather than scrolling. I would also like to see a “go back” button for the bullet-only screen.

Finally I Can Save Profiles

This app has always worked for me and I’ve been amazed and how accurate it is with bullet drop. I just have to pick the right part of the appropriate circle and it’s game on every time. My only gripe all along was I had to reenter the scope (only Nikons), gun, and ammo selection every time I switched from slug gun, muzzleloader, and multiple rifles depending on the different game and phases of the hunting season. Now, I have a profile for each different firearm and scope in my safe. What a difference it makes to quickly switch to the profile I need when I head out instead putting in everything each time. Thanks Nikon!

Lost all saved loads!!!

I’ve been using this app for years and have bought 10 BDC reticle scopes to use with the app and have saved a dozen or so loads on the app. Now when I open the app the saved loads are gone and the option to save a load is also gone. All of my info has been lost and I can’t type the words here to express my anger properly. I really hope there is an update soon to remedy this or I may go from a loyal customer of Nikon to another company. It makes me think that any future updates could also make customers lose their data so it will again be a waste of time.

Previous versions functioned well

I’ve been using this app for several years on a iPhone 6s in conjunction with Nikon’s rimfire 4-12x40 bdc scope. It was a great app and all functions worked well until the most recent update. Now all it does is crash, crash, crash. I can get it to work for a short period of time if i delete and reinstall. Even when it does work and i input the load info and scope and hit “fire,” the magnification slider for the selected 12 power scope shows a max of 9x. A potentially great app riddled with crappy updates. Almost every update has caused at least several large groups of users to lose functionality. This app was a big reason i was looking into buying more Nikon scopes. Now maybe I’ll go with Burris.

Great simple free ballistic calculator

This ballistic calculator could be better But Nikon Spot on is good enough Nikon seems to listen and SLOWLY incorporating the features we need I.e saved multiple rifle and ammo profiles Remember Garbage in = garbage out Make sure your muzzle velocity is correct , BC is correct Sight height is correct Altitude ,pressure , temp and humidity is close With the same exact data Nikon spot on is only 1 click or 2 differ than Strelock Pro , Bullet drop , applied ballistic and other ballistic calculator Even getting a kestrel 5700 elite does not make you any better So stop listening to those who think ballistic calculator is MAGIC BULLET You HAVE TO provide correct data And then use some field data to correct the dope at long distance Learn how to use this Apps It will help your shooting tremendously
