Great start

I’ve been waiting a long time for this app. Works decent but WIFI must be perfect to keep it stable and the app crashes at random. Can’t wait to see improvements in the future

Much improved

A great app for monitoring our livestreaming PC without much delay! The app is much improved with the new version's auto relaunch of your last used source.

Easy connect, monitor your NDI feeds

Finds and displays all available NDI feeds. Note- on some iPhones with silent switch on side, silencing the ringer will also silence NDI audio.

Definitely needs work

This is awesome... it definitely needs the low bandwidth option to be available like the camera app if that is even possible. Did a time test. It is well with in one second loss from watching a timer. It is a great start, hopefully with some time it can get better. For notes we have a ruckus network that we have streamed NDI over to a compute stick on. We know our network can handle it. I think it has something to do with the iPad. I’m using a mini, will try to try it on a 9.7 pro later

Very crashy

Once you enable Hi-Res NDI and Retina in settings, it looks halfway decent (those should be enabled by default, or at least you should be told that it will look like garbage until you do that). To those saying the audio doesn't work, I've discovered you cannot have your device in silent mode for it to work, unlike several other apps that show video or make noise. It freezes and crashes quite a bit. I found any time I switched sources, it would either crash or freeze requiring a full close and re-open of the app. Though, half the time, when closing the app, it'll crash itself, meaning if I switch to another app for a second and come back, it'll have crashed and I'll need to select my source again and wait the sometimes 30, even up to 45 seconds for it to reconnect to my source, if it does at all.I also find it randomly crashes, such as when getting a system-wide alert, or sometimes even when getting a notification from an app. Swiping down and opening control center (even just beginning to swipe down, by accident, and not opening it all the way) will also result in a crash, similar with pulling down to see your notifications in Notification Center. It also requires a fairly new device to keep the stream going. The preceding thoughts were written based on my experience using it on my iPhone XS Max. When it tried it on my iPad Air 2 (admittedly an old device but it still holds up to other tasks and even some games quite well), the stream was very jerky and the audio cut out a lot, eventually causing the app to crash. It should be noted the two devices were in the same physical location, which is quite close to the Wi-Fi access point, and gets a very respectable amount of bandwidth in iPerf tests on both my phone and iPad. I have not tried wiring the iPad (or my phone for that matter) in with the USB-Ethernet adapter + lightning camera connection kit, but I'll give it a shot. I suspect it won't help the stuttering and jerkiness on the iPad, though.Overall, I'm disappointed with this app and wish there were alternative apps available. The only reason I'm giving the app 2 stars is because it does actually receive and show NDI and audio (most of the time, anyways). It's interesting, because I quite frequently use the Sienna NDI Monitor app on my Mac, along with a few of their other NDI tools (I actually prefer their NDI Monitor over NewTek's), and would have expected more from them in an iOS app.The app is very much not worth the $9.99 I spent on this app.

Great Potential

Works great however having issues with audio (no audio seems to play) and newtec scan converter seems to crash it. Could be a great tool if issues addressed. Iphone Xs Max iOS 14.1/ Mac Book Pro/ Google Wifi AP

A great start, but could be much more

This is the only app out there that does what it does, so it’s hard to make comparisons. The basic functionality works fine — it detects and displays NDI a/v streams. Sometimes the video freezes when switching between apps and requires an app restart, but usually reselecting the source will reset it. Where it falls down are the little things that you expect to work but don’t. The audio output won’t play over Bluetooth, so you can’t use wireless headphones or speakers. The app hasn’t been built with iPad multitasking support, so you can’t do side-by-side mode or picture-in-picture, which would be really useful if you’re monitoring a stream that you’re controlling with another app.For the price, a little more polish would be nice, but until there’s some competition, I don’t know if we’ll see it.

Description

Professional NDI Monitor from global IP Video leaders Sienna. NDI sources on your local subnet are presented in a pop up menu to select, when you tap on the screen. If you enter additional 'NDI Access' IP Addresses from other subnets into the system prefs panel for NDI Monitor, those NDI sources may also be accessed.

Includes support for NDI Discovery server (see app settings), resolution control, video flip for autocue and control of NDI network Protocol for reliability. Notes: A very stable WIFI connection, or a wired ethernet connection are required for smooth playback of NDI Streams. Using a directional WIFI antenna and using the sweet spot of your wifi can help. If you experience glitching of audio or dropped video frames, the problem is very likely a wifi connection which is insufficiently stable to support smooth NDI video to iOS - in this case please try a wired ethernet to lightning adaptor. You should not expect perfect performance when selecting Hi Resolution NDI - which is offered as an experimental mode for users with very fast devices, on very fast, clean network connections. In some cases you may see great results in hi res. There are preferences in the System Settings app for NDI Monitor to setup application options. You can also use the app NDI Scanner as a stream selector - it will open NDI Monitor when you click on a selected stream. NB. This app does not support NDI | HX1 format streams - only full NDI format and NDI HX2
