In my top three!

I’ve owned cars since 1964. In 1973 I drove to Detroit and picked up a new Pontiac Catalina that had all options available. In the mid 90’s I bought a new Thunderbird. This year I bought a new CX5. Although all three were in a completely different class they all had class. I can’t pick a winner out of the three but they were and are fantastic machines for me. The Mazda shares some of the features I liked in the Catalina and the T-Bird as well as its own. For a four cylinder and me now being 76 years old and gas back up over $4.00 a gallon here where I live it’s got all the pick up and go I need. It does 84 on the Thruway and that fast enough. Smooth ride and all the options but turbo. Getting 27mpg around town and the three times I drove to Rochester it got 34mpg. Very nice investment.

You cannot paste password into the app

I keep passwords in a password mgmt system. I copy password and try to paste it in. This app disallows this. Why? All other apps allow this, please fix this. My password is very long and very secure, being required to type it in is moronic. Quoting a reasonable opinion from 1passsord, please read this. yes, there are a few sites (many of them, unfortunately, in the financial sector) who seem to believe that allowing pasting reduces user security. We disagree, obviously, for precisely the reasons you stated: if you can't automatically fill your password from your password manager, and you can't even copy and paste it, then people are going to reducetheir security by changing their long-and-strong, random password generated by 1Password, into something they can remember and type...which will be much less strong. Your Face ID is useless. It doesn’t work most of the time. If this actually worked, it would be better but still not good enough. Be reasonable here, PLEASE

Mazda6 is awesome, app is terrible

I don’t normally write app reviews but this app is ridiculously un-useful because it never works right. I’ve been trying to use it for 3 years, since I bought my car, and I always forget how crappy it is when I try to use it again. It would be wonderful if I could schedule my services through the app, and keep track of them and recalls, and it give me notifications to schedule next services. I just tried to search recalls and it froze up, even after restarting the app. I was excited to see that FaceID is supported with the new update, because I had to enter my info every time, but now I can’t even log in. It just gives me a spinning wheel of doom, after it reads my face. I don’t have that issue with any other app, and they all use FaceID. I’m glad I don’t need the use of this app to remote start my car, like some other reviewers, here. I gave it 2 stars because it now saves my car info, so that’s an improvement on previous versions.

Remote start counter is broken

I hate the fact that I need an app to remote start my car in the first place, but the thing is, remote start doesn’t even work 90% of the times when I really need it to. I’ve been parked in a gas station parking lot for over 40 minutes trying to get my car to remote start after driving well over 100 miles since my last remote start. I can’t go in to get any food or drinks, since I have a pet and don’t wanna leave it in the car without AC, and I can’t lock the doors if I turn on AC with either a manual start or just an electrical start (no engine). So now I’m hungry, frustrated, and 40 minutes later to my destination all because this app does not work properly.Really, the amount of remote starts between drives should be reset after an hour or two, reset if the odometer count goes up (which it did), or the limit should be user-definable inside a settings page (or even let the user turn it off completely. Or, even better, just include remote start on the key fobs in future years so I don’t have to rely on spotty reception and an unreliable counter when doing road trips with a pet in the car — but this isn’t the fault of the iOS developers.

I like…but why kill the ignition?

Pretty simple and easy to use. Similar to my experience when I owned a Genesis. Pretty responsive. Notifications are thorough if you allow everything to be an alert. Haven’t used the maintenance section or scheduling yet since the car is a new buy and only carrying 500 miles. But…why is it that when you start the car remotely and then open the door the car turns off? Doesn’t make sense as a security measure since I have to be carrying my keys to open the car. Minor annoyance but it makes no sense to have to start the car…after already starting the car. Never encountered this with any other car makes.

So Far So Good! 👍🏼😌

I always wanted a Mazda. Recently, I got married and had a baby boy & a couple of friends of mine who own or lease a Mazda recommended them to me. I just leased the Mazda 2021 CX-30 and I absolutely love it. Upon delivery of the truck, I didn’t realize that the package I had chosen doesn’t come with a remote start. Now that I have a baby, I figure for the winters it would come in handy. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t in my package but while doing some research to find out who installs remote starts in my neighborhood (I’m from Staten Island NY).. I read a post about the Mazda app having the remote start, which saved me $150 to have a mechanic install. I’ve been using it for a little over a month and it’s been amazing. Us New Yorkers know how frigid the winters in NY can be. You can compare NY winters to Game of Thrones - winter is coming 😅 so I must say... so far so good! Keep it up Mazda because you just gained a loyal customer with me 🎉

Love my Cx-5

I drove a Toyota Camry for 15 years then traded it for a 2016 Mazda CX-5.I fell in love with that little SUV. Recently I traded my 2016 SUV for a 2021 Mazda CX-5. It has all the bells and whistle‘s you could want in safety features and in comfort. I love the heated seats, the smooth handling on the highway, and of course the Bose sound system. With the Mazda app on my phone I can lock and start my car. It tells me if I leave it unlocked. What more could you want? Oh did I mention how much I love the automatic tailgate? It is so convenient when you’re loading groceries or whatever in the back. For a small SUV it is roomy inside and comfortable. I would recommend the Mazda CX-5 to anyone looking for a medium sized SUV. You will fall in love.

Get rid of dark interface

App works well to do what I want: remotely lock/unlock doors, or remote start. For some dumb reason, the remotely started engine will stop as soon as you open the car’s door. My main gripe with this app the interface. I’m sure in the designer’s darkened studio, on his gorgeous 4K iMac or MacBook Pro screen, this interface GUI was “gorgeous” and “sex.” In real-world use, it’s terribly hard to use. Everything on the interface is black. Ok, not such a huge problem. However, the text and icons for the buttons is like 85% gray or darker! I tried to open the app outside while on lunch one day to show a friend and we could not seeing anything on screen. I have an iPhone Pro 11 and had the screen brightness up to max. If you’re going to do a black interface, make the text 30% or brighter (heck, even white). Did you even UX test this? Fix please then I’ll add 2 stars.

Poor Technology - Expected Better

The whole system needs way more development. I bought new ‘21 CX5 Signature believing based on my salesman’s word that this more expensive model offered the very best technology, but I’ve been very disappointed to discover this model has older tech than the cheaper CX30. Service bulletin shows my CX5 has v6.5 while the CX30 has v7.0 onboard software. Therefore, this app only offers half of the functionality. I can remote start, unlock/lock, & turn on/off hazards, but I don’t have tire pressure monitoring or WiFi management. This app would be a bit better if it SECURELY allowed at least the same functionality as the onboard infotainment system, such as changing vehicle settings. I sure hope Mazda catches up with other manufacturers on this. If these failures are due to the microchip shortage, I sure hope those of us who paid premium prices expecting the very best are first in line for warrantied upgrades.

One needed improvement

After using the app for about a month, I find that many of its remote features are excellent. Because of the inconsistency of the automatic door lock is you’re walking away from the car, the notification that your car is still unlocked is very useful as are other notifications. However, getting the notification badge cleared requires a tedious process of deleting the activity or the status. The badge should automatically clear once you’ve read the notification. Also The developers should seriously consider sliding the notification to delete it rather than having to open up a menu, select delete, then choose the notification, and finally hit delete again.
