Very, very fun!!

First time finishing a game I downloaded on my xsmax (I very rarely play games on my phone). It’s really fun and I enjoyed the artwork and the difficulty of the puzzles. Please keep creating more games that are like this where the character can walk around interacting with ppl and solve puzzles. Btw, kowloon wall city was a very good theme and the game did a pretty accurate representation of its context and artwork.

Quirky & compelling!!

Not sure why this game or this developer doesn’t get more reviews but it prompted me to write one-these guys & this game deserve it! First, a major shout out to this historic depiction of Hong Kong culture! The seedy or sometimes desperate characters who are just trying to do their best to survive, the gorgeous intricate artwork, the funky locales & back alleyways of the Walled City were mind boggling. This game took time & great effort to make! The soundtrack from the onset pulled me in & who knew a cartoon pumpkin headed protagonist could be so compelling! The gameplay was intuitive and the puzzles were fun and sometimes challenging, yet not so difficult that I couldn’t figure it out with a little head scratching. Thank you Cotton Games for this beautiful piece that pays homage to a time in Chinese culture that may otherwise be forgotten. It prompted me to explore other Cotton Games (for which I am now a FAN!) as well as learn more about the Walled City of Kowloon. Can’t remember the last time a game prompted me to learn more about history!

Fun!

I really enjoyed playing this game. I had never played the first and didn’t know what to expect. After the first chapter, I started to understand the game play and get the hang of it. I needed to use a hint a couple of times, (my iPhone pull-up bar at the bottoms of the screen almost blocked them), mostly enjoyed figuring everything out myself! Very enjoyable game!

❤️ Love it! ❤️

I’ve played and loved all the games by this developer, but this one has to be my favorite. So much creativity and detail, and just the right amount of challenge without being frustrating. There are hours of gameplay here, and just when I thought it was over, another chapter started. Can’t wait for the next one!

Good quality, interesting but some minor glitches

An interesting and generally well done game, but I ran into a bug that forced me to use a walkthrough. After getting the instructions from the pharmacist there is now way to repeat them. All others characters repeat their instructions when asked but not him. I find the solution, for which I had to use a walkthrough, kind of finicky to manually get right - the controls are not too clear. Other bugs that are less important are that characters routinely forget if they have already given Mr Pumpkin something or already received something from him and repeat things inappropriately.

It’s nice

I love isoland games. Was hopping this would be similar. It’s close but so issues. I honestly hate the puzzles bc some are so picky that it seems like it’s not the right solution when it is. Becoming frustrating and impossible. I can’t finish it bc I just don’t like the puzzles (some are just random and senseless) and the arcade games blow and u can’t pass. Lots of running back and forth with the hopes the items work. Had to find hints too

LOVE THIS GAME

I absolutely love this game, esp if you looking for som adventurous brainy game! I am a 90s kid growing up in Hong Kong and heard a lot of the stories of that are. Everything in this game is basically part of my parents’ childhood! This game perfectly depicted the other side of Hong Kong back in the 50s and 60s or even the 70s. Hope you guys can create more games that are similar to this!

Beautiful, fun, cute game

I knew I would love this game! The arts. The stories. The puzzles. I am as in and a quarter Chinese from my mom. I recognized everything in this game as I saw them when I was little either in person or in Chinese tv shows or drama. I wish the game wasn’t so short. It is different and definitely brought back the nostalgic child memories in me out. I love Asian theme games like these. Praying and hoping and giving my support to creator to make more games like !

Entertaining...but too simple

Overall I enjoyed the game, but it is too simple. I am a big fan of puzzle games. Mr. Pumpkin 2 is similar, but different from Mr. Pumpkin 1. In the second version there were less puzzles. The best puzzles of the game came after the ending credits, where you find yourself back in the bedroom of Mr. Pumpkin 1 for a round of puzzles. Mr. Pumpkin 2 is more of a scavenger hunt where Mr. Pumpkin 1 is more puzzles. I found that 1 was better than 2. The scavenger hunt in 2 was simplistic...way too easy to connect the dots. Rather than figure out what characters need, they tell you. Like, “go find my remote control”. Way to simple and easy, not challenging enough. If they do a three, they need to have more puzzles and a more challenging “scavenger hunt”.

Very flavorful

Honestly, a very tasty way of exploring the concept of the city. I hope to see more adventures in HK because there are so many other places to travel. Protip, please think of implementing VO. I can imagine there will be many creative ways of making the characters speak.

Description

CottonGame’s empty-headed protagonist is back for a new round of puzzle-filled fun in Mr. Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon! Brought to you by Shanghai publisher Lilith Games, this indie point-and-click adventure will take you back in time to explore the chaotic maze of human life that was Kowloon Walled City.

Cyberpunk elements add a touch of the fantastic to the world’s memorable characters and realistic scenes. Everyone has a story to tell and a mystery to unravel–are you up to the challenge? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- When it was finally demolished in 1993, Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City was the most densely populated place on the planet. Fifty thousand people lived and worked in an area the size of an average city block. A patchwork network of transportation systems, crude but efficient, connected the City’s labyrinthine passageways and buildings. The Walled City gained infamy as a lawless, densely populated ghetto, a jungle of dilapidated concrete and grimy neon signs echoing with the thunder of jet engines flying low overhead. Many historical accounts have focused on the darker side of life there: the gangs that ruled in lieu of police, the damp, sunless apartments whose inhabitants ate and slept alongside rats and cockroaches. Yet life in Kowloon was not without virtue. Most of the City’s residents made an honest living–working as dentists, shopkeepers, mechanics, etc.–and were intimately connected with their communities. They recognized the deficiencies of the place they called home, and they fought tooth and nail to give their children a chance at a better life, but they were not ashamed to live in the Walled City. Today all that remains are the glimpses of that marvelous existence captured in old newspaper clippings, home videos, and photo albums. But the City still lives in the memories of its former residents–and in the imaginations of cyberpunk fans worldwide. Mr. Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon brings these memories to light once more...
