User Reviews for Mockup - Sketch UI & UX

Almost perfect

There are plenty of great sketching apps out there but Mockup has earned its place as my go-to for UX ideation. It’s simple and fast because it does away with all the unnecessary clutter - just what I need for putting early design concepts together.A couple of small thoughts (none of them dealbreakers):- sync can sometimes still be a bit off when using across multiple devices- three finger swipe down to hide canvases is way too hard to get right. Perhaps consider changing the gesture or allowing gestures to be user configured (and/or add an option to contextual menu)- wish there was an easy way (a mode?) to move canvases around. Sometimes I get deep into a project and realize I need to reorganize things a bit- drag to the edge to create new canvases is handy, but actually I wish when I dragged to the edge I just saw a bunch of ‘+’ buttons so I can create only specific canvases (ie creates a row/column but other canvases are hidden). Note this might not be a big deal if it was easier to hide canvases- elements library is great but it should allow me to drag and position things before releasing them on canvas. Also I think it would feel more natural to position objects by center point instead of top left- might want to consider reusing the existing selection tool to define elements rather than using a second selection tool just for elements which is rectangular onlyKeep up the great work Hasan!

Do not download

This app is is very finicky when trying to use it. I was working on prototyping this app to present to clients on it. The day before the meeting, the app crashed and when I tried close it and open it again it only showed me a white screen. After about 10 seconds, the app closed and went back to my Home Screen. I tried to trouble shoot the issues by shutting down my device then turning it back on and turning on and off my wifi. I was unable to recover my work which is very unfortunate and I will not be using this app again nor be recommending it to any friends anytime soon.

Almost Perfect!

Mockup is usually my go-to app for sketching out design projects. I love the UI and various tools included. I subscribed to the premium version and I believe its 100% worth the money. My ONLY concern though is we don’t have an ability to create custom-sized documents. Sometimes I am unable to accurately sketch out a layout because it does not resemble the pre-chosen sizes. If Mockup added this ability, I would no longer revert to GoodNotes or Procreate for my sketching. Otherwise this app is amazing!

I used to love this app…

I used to use this app for everything UX/UI. Now I’m afraid I may need to go over to something else despite paying for the lifetime membership. I haven’t used the app in a few months due to a shift in work, but now coming back I can see that a lot has changed - not necessarily for the better. Maybe there’s a secret way to copy/paste, but I cannot find it. Why has this option been disabled? The work around is to create elements I guess. Not really thrilled. Also the new UI looks much worse than the previous sleek looking drawing tools. As well, I used to be able to move the drawing tools out of the way. I’m left handed so my hand is always hitting them or covering them now that they are in a fixed position. The main file page is also really odd with the “window” looking quadrant icons. Maybe this app needs a UX Designer. Why the big changes??

Missing Copy/Paste

Copy and paste would be good so that you can copy from one file to another. Why? Because sometimes - or all of the time - you don't want to be redrawing an app and recreating things every time you have a new project for the same application. The elements feature looks like it is meant to solve this removal of copy/paste BUT the catch is that once you add an "element" that you've created from another file, you cannot edit it at all - no option to delete or iterate the element for your new use case. This is a huge pain point.Anothe note: How does one move the toolbar on the left hand side? I've had friends try to do it as well, so I know that it's not just me...Something else that would be great would be great is adjustable phone screens - lengthwise. Pages don't end at the bottom of the physical phone. I have been using the blank canvas for nearly every project due to this issue of fixed phone templates.I like that you've added resizing of items...that definitely helps A LOT!I don't want to criticize constantly but I think from a UX standpoint, it's really important to create a good basic MVP...you were on the right track but it feels liks features and "community" have taken over and a lot of basics are being overlooked. How can the workflow be easy and seamless? This is a sketching tool - from my perspecitive - and it was Almost perfect before recent updates. It seems like it's trying to get too big and be something more.

Good but could use more template items

I used the app this morning to design a screen for an application I'm building. I like the app, but I am not developing for mobile. Most of the widgets are geared towards iPhone and iPad development. If it had mockup items for web app elements from Bootstrap it would be more useful for me. If it had chart elements from higcharts and ag-grid, I'd give it 20 stars. The app works exactly as it is designed to. I never hit any crashes or snags in my use of it.

Please Read

This is the best app for UX designers, UI designers, PMs, small business owners, etc.I have tried Procreate, Invision Freehand, (will try Figma Whiteboard which was in beta last I saw months ago), and others but it is always something: no Apple Pencil support, buggy / laggy, only works if using the parent SaaS, dev abandoned the project, no structure like projects, folders, linked canvases, or a combination of these. There is nothing like this app for iPad plus it has a Mac App and iPhone app. Buy it, support the dev(s).Mr. Hassan Kassel,I sense there is huge potential to market this to UX designers, LO-FI tool for UI designers, and as a general "must have" for anyone interested in mocking up a design fluidly and quickly with projects, folders, and prebuilt canvases.I’ve subscribed to support development but I truly fear that you will stop developing this project eventually pushing out updates every so often throughout the year until it is abandoned due to not enough revenue or the rise of another passion project, if you will. Please let me know if we can collaborate and I can plug this app into my University where I am a student with tons of other students and teachers at an international scale.Secondly, I’m a program instructor for my platform, and this is something I’d love to highlight in my courses.I’ll do my best to support if I with your commitment. Please let me know and I can email you.

amazingly limited

If you want to drop basic UX elements onto a screen mockup, and you want one of the premade elements they have, you win.If you want to do something simple like draw a box or a circle, sorry pal you gotta freehand that.

Great app with room to grow

As a UI/UX designer I have been looking for a way to transition to using my iPad to sketch out my ideas and process. Evaluated many options and there are plenty of options out there to satisfy. But this app has provided the built in templates for devices and simplicity of tools that fulfilled my intention of replacing my actual sketchbook and still feel like I am using it. There is plenty of room for improvements and growth that I hope the developers continue to work on. But for my creative flow it is the perfect solution in support of my process. One bad experience - I had worked on sketches on my iPad and later open the app on my Mac where it idicated there was an update. I ran the update and when I opened the file to continue working all my sketches where gone!! The artboards added to do the sketches where still in file but the content deleted. When i went to check the backup there was no backup saved with that version eventhough it was from the previous day. :-(

Missing a lot of basic stuff

Great app, but could use some polish. For example, why is the element search case sensitive? searching "text" will come up with a "Context Menu", but you have to search "Text" in order to get a "Text Field" to come up. Many other little things too, but a lot of these reviews covered the others.
