Absolutely the best app for shooting film

I’ve tried every single photo logging/EXIF app that I could run on my phone and this is hands-down the best option. Using this _will_ improve your photography, you’ll be able to learn what exposure you prefer with different film stocks and you can keep track of which lenses you use the most. I have a lot of gear and I switch cameras/lenses constantly, this allows me to very easily check what camera/lens/exposure/location a photo had, when I get the scans back six months later and can’t remember a thing. The developer added an option for CSV export and it’s great, I store it with the scans on my computer so I never lose the “EXIF” for a given roll.A few suggestions: it would be nice to be able to individually specify 1/3, 1/2, or whole stops for exposure comp and shutter defaults per camera, and the same for lens aperture. I have some cameras that have exposure comp in 1/2 stops (Nikon FE, notably). Also, adding a “0” in the exposure comp presets would be nice. Overall, I love this app. It’s easy to use, reliable, let’s me track many, many cameras and lenses, and has fields for all the relevant info a session could have. Well done.

Great for data needs

My wife is a metadata analyst. She was jazzed when I told her about this app. Used it this weekend on a camping trip and it allowed me to keep great record of the shots I got. I really like being able to take a reference photo for each frame. It would be awesome though if I could upload a reference photo instead. I’m using a light meter app that outputs an image with all the exposure data.

Great but there are improvements could be done

This app works great for me. Here are some suggestions that maybe good for developers to do.1. Adding 1/3 stops options for ISO presets. I noticed there is a button for custom iso speed input, but it will be great if the iso presets can set as every 1/3 stop such as 100 125 160 200 etc. Because there are some films such as Ilford FP4 is at 125 as box speed, and there are photographers always shot their films at 1/3 overexposed or underexposed. So, it is more convenient for us to have a 1/3 stop (or have an option in the setting) as a preset ISO selection.2. Adding 1/2 and 1/3 options for Aperture presets. There are quite amount of cameras have 1/2 stop for Aperture (not a lot has 1/3 tho). It will be great for us to have a 1/2 or 1/3 selection for presets on Aperture (maybe we can choose it when setup the lenses)3. Adding more shutter speed on longer exposure on presets. Most analog cameras have up to 16s shutter speed. It is annoying to only have the shutter speed presets limited to 1s.

No support, broken

I can add my cameras and I stumbled across the means to add film. But when adding film it defaults to today for the loading date. There doesn’t seem to be any way to edit it. Tapping on the date brings up a white box displaying nothing but select and cancel buttons. I can’t enter any data. Tapping the white box does nothing. And now that that’s in there, how do I put in an unload date. And the ultimate use remains a mystery, how to extract what I’ve put in so I can add exif data to a scanned image?

Something missing

I can’t add the lens for my Fujifilm GS645 Professional Fujica 6x4.5 Medium Format Rangefinder folding camera.Admittedly I can’t change lenses, but in your app I can’t add the lens at all.Is this something you can fix?It uses a Fujinon 75mm f3.4 fixed lens.

Works well for my 4x5. Just need the ability to take an image that is saved with the record. Thanks

Description

Are you a meticulous film photographer that prefers to record settings/locations for the film photos that you take? Are you looking for a simple and easy to use app for tracking and logging that information? Are you tired of the buggy, crash-prone, or convoluted photo logging apps currently available?

I happen to be all of those things. Which is why I developed MetaLog. MetaLog is a simple yet powerful data logging utility for photographers who want to quickly record photo metadata for photo cataloging or EXIF tagging during post-processing. In addition to keeping track of the settings for each photo, MetaLog can also act as an equipment inventory for your gear. Feature Highlights: • See all of your added film rolls at a glance, including the number of frames added to each roll, as well as load/unload dates to show which rolls are still in use. • Quickly log settings for each photo including date, lens, aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, as well as location coordinates, accessories, and notes about the shot. • Intelligent pre-fill and filtering for dates, locations, and equipment, making adding new frames a snap. • Easily manage multiple rolls loaded into multiple cameras simultaneously. • Pinpoint photo locations with a simple and familiar pinch-and-zoom map interface. • Export all logged data as convenient CSV files. • Gear pages can record camera and lens models as well as serial numbers, allowing for a complete gear inventory that's handy for tracking and insurance.
