Finally 1080P streaming
The quality is 100 times better with the recent update to the app. Huge upgrade all around!
Needs to fix some issues
We have to enter app, choose watch live, can’t get in, leave app, reopen app and finally get to live game. Also alway have to turn closed caption off. Happy to FINALLY watch games.
Video quality???
My biggest issue with this app, besides the constantly logging in, not being able to exit and go back easily, etc. is just how bad the video quality is. I have very good internet, but the video quality on this app is atrocious. It’s to the point that it’s tough to see the direction of the ball off the bat. It is 2023 for crying out loud. Will it be better as a stand alone app? I don’t understand how it can be so bad.This update completely changes my thoughts. The streaming quality is infinitely better. Thank you!
Does not work!
This app is garbage. Literal garbage. 4 months since the last update. I pay for the marquee channel and my cable app does not let me watch when away from home so being signed into this app allows me to stream anywhere. Only one problem! The app does not work. You get an ad every time you click stream and on top of that while watching they pop up random ads and then the stream stops working and you have to close out of the stream and restart it then watch another ad and the process continues. Please take off the App Store or make it useable. It’s a shame the cubs chose them. :(
No Streaming or Casting to Other Devices or TV!?!?
First, if I could give zero stars I would. I was so excited when I heard the Cubs were going to have their own network similar to the Yankees and the YES network. But, in my humble opinion the Marquee adventure has been a disaster. Like many, I had cut the cord on traditional cable. But, I am a TRUE Cubs fan and schedule and plan my days around Cubs games. Therefore, I had to use the RCN network in my building to get the games. That’s fine its whatever, cost of being a fan (same as cost of doing business lol). With that being said, a lot of times I’m not home, or at a friend’s place, or whatever. Long story short the App is straight trash, the network content is hot garbage, and you can’t stream to other devices that don’t have Airplay or AppleTV. Not to mention you have to have an iPhone, I mean if you don’t have an iPhone well you don’t have an iPhone. But, that’s neither here nor there. Marquee is owned by the Ricketts and the Cubs. STEP YOUR GAME UP!!! We deserve so much better!!!!!!
Meh they could do better, annoying ad at start
It’s nice to be able to watch games on the go, however, there’s a huge delay which is caused by the ad. When you load the game it’ll show a flash of what’s going on then the ad will load. Once the 15 sec ad finishes it picks up from that spot. With that large of a delay it’s difficult watching the game, I’ll get updates on my phone WELL before what I’m watching. Typically there’s a slight delay but this is just frustrating... I get ads will happen but there are commercial breaks that will suit ads better and not affect streaming... I expected better from Marquee. Having extra time to fine tune things because of COVID and being the home station for one of the largest fan bases and this is the best they can do? I’ll look forward to any updates/the removal or fix of the ad issue. Until then it’s 2 stars. I’ll give 2 and not 1 because I love the Cubs.
Paying for a channel to get ADs during a live game
Where do you get off? I pay for Marquee in addition to cable; and here you are FORCING me to watch ads through the app MID INNING. You obviously do NOT understand Chicago Cubs fans. You are a terrible network and you will not be getting another contract. Fix your app and your FORCED advertisements for PAID customers. Literally wasting my time and money for sub par content and coverage. Make all the fun shows and cute ideas that you want; you’ll still never be able to broadcast 1 game without any technical issues in the output to homes. Trash trash trash From Sinclair. No one at Marquee production should ever be able to hold a job elsewhere. Watching the games is painful. Would rather listen to 670 a.m and not deal with all the crap you throw on the digital feeds and the app. Literal trash they could not fix if they wanted to.
Not ready for prime time
Initially I could not watch the Cubs with this app on my iPad and got the looping “sign in with provider”. I called my TV provider this morning to double check if they were aware the app was not connecting. They looked into it and where I don’t know what they did, it is now working. So it turned out it was not so much a problem with the app as it was my TV provider had to change a setting or something from their end to get it to work....happy customer am I.
Can’t Stream a smart TV???
I just wasted $20 on this stupid app? I have been waiting for them to offer a direct to consumer services for years and they come out with an app I can only stream on my phone??? Seriously? $20 a month is ridiculous but $20 a month just to watch on a phone is insane. Been a cubs fan for over 43 years and I am about done with them.
They should be embarrassed!
I have NEVER, I repeat NEVER, used this app without having an issue. Sometimes when it goes to a commercial, it will never come back. Sometimes the video just freezes. Sometimes it just stutters every 10 seconds. Sometimes I just get audio and no picture. These issues are experienced across every TV, phone, tablet, computer, and Wi-Fi network. It’s not just the app either. If you log in via the website, the experience is just as bad. The fact that nothing has been done to address the issues, that make up the majority of these reviews, tells you that the Cubs organization really doesn’t care. Also, I’m not sure if it’s the ad you are forced to watch when you launch a game, but I’m always at least 30 seconds behind real time. So make sure you’re not following along on the MLB app, and make sure to turn your text alerts off. It’s a sad state of affairs that this is how we have to watch games. I can almost guarantee that we will all have the same complaints a year from now.
