Fantastic Game - Amazing Value

This game is pure quality. I love it. I also play One Deck Dungeon on my iPad and think it is great, but this is just as good and wayyy less expensive. The value this game provides is nothing short of astounding. The art is great, the gameplay is great, this is a real winner! And thanks for NO ADS of any kind. Even One Deck has an ad on their opening screen for their own promotions. Also, I love that this is A CCG that does not try to exploit the gamer. No stupid IAP cards or coins. You get (much more actually) what you pay for. It is a solid and complete game with available, reasonably priced, expansions. Does it get any better, or more honest, than that? Great work developer! You are my kind of developer!!

All the fun of HS with none of the pain

Just what I was looking for! Got to the point in HS that I didn’t care if I won and hated it if I lost— not a great recipe for enjoyment. On the other hand, Lost Portal is simply pure fun— love it when I win and, if I lost, try again! The adventure format simply adds another dimension to this enjoyment and I can imagine interesting updates where it may even play a bigger role.A couple of requests from the developer: Playing on an iPad Pro and the attack button and discard pile are a bit overly particular as to where they get activated. I often have to try to discard more than once to hit the sweet spot (same goes for the attack button). Also, the game seems to require a vertical orientation with the home button at the bottom. As I like to play with the iPad plugged in, the plug gets in the way at that orientation. It would be great if it could be flipped to put the home button at the top.You have something really good here— looking forward to even better!

Love it, buy it

For a few bucks, this game is worth hours of good game play. Like other deck building games, you start off with a base deck and through eliminating monsters and other threats on behalf of various towns/cities, you gain gold and cards to make your deck awesome. Similar to Magic, you can make Red/Blue decks, Black/Green, one color decks, etc. I love this game. You may find some monsters draw godly well one time, then you pull out some crazy stuff and win. Do remember that you can forge cards, buy more from the merchant, and find more off of monsters. All in game currency of course, no p2w or other stupid micro transactions that plague other games. Two expansions that add variety and more content to play. All in all, gooooooood game. Haven’t played a satisfying phone game in ages, but this one does it right.

Seems great

So far this seems like a solid CCG well worth the investment. I am nevertheless concerned about another review that was not responded to saying that avatar cards (which are cards that can only drop from specific enemies) cannot be acquired any other way, yet are not guaranteed to drop and enemies don't respawn. So basically this would be a solo CCG in which for some reason it would be *impossible* to collect all the cards and wherein you may just get unlucky and miss the cards you most want. For now I'm presuming this can't be true as it would be such a bad design choice, but it does have me concerned, especially given I can clearly see that these "avatar" cards have unique mechanics and will be necessary for certain deckbuilds ... 4 stars until I verify at which point the rating will go up or down depending.

RNG>SKILL

I know, I know…another person using the term “RNG” as a catch all phrase to frame their complaints but please hear me out. As a Deck-Builder it is great and in terms of engagement and play it’s fun but where this game unfortunately falls hard is its ability not to force an AI WIN. There are many times during a duel that the AI has a impeccable card run and you have an absolute drought. You can build an amazing deck but if the cards are all aeon cards you are shut out of dps. There are NO mechanics to turn the tide within the duel. The odds of drawing a card based how many you have doesn’t seem part of card draw programming. The UI shows how many cards you have left to draw and you can tell the drawing seems off for certain cards during an AI draw streak. I have won games by simply closing and opening the app and I destroy the same AI in just a few turns no change in deck. So enjoy the game for the RNG and something to do but for a skill based Deck-builder try something else…

Hands down my most played app

I’ve had this game for years now and I still break it out all the time. It’s the perfect filler to play just a single battle when you have a few minutes to kill. And I’ve had immense fun tuning my decks to get better performance. I love this game and am so overjoyed to see some new content just released! My only request to the dev would be to employ a way to reset the story progress for a character build but NOT reset the card library or built decks, so I have more game to play once I’ve beaten all levels but don’t have to go through all the card management again. Alternatively a “custom single battle” mode or something using my developed characters would also be fun, as long as I could set it to give me a tough challenge. Awesome game all around, thank you for making and continuing to support!

Almost there

Great deck-builder. Good variety of cards and plenty of options to upgrade. Fairly easy to learn, but still enough depth of play to keep it interesting. I don’t give it a full 5 stars because the randomness of card draws seems…off, I guess. I have built and rebuilt my decks and still get fights where I draw literally nothing but all my mana cards. Other times, all minions and no mana. My last game, I bought 3 new cards and I drew them ALL on my first hand. Hmmm. I get that this happens in card games, but it doesn’t feel right here. Often matches come down to who has a good draw and who has a bad one and if you have a bad draw there is little you can do about it to turn it around; might as well start over. Still recommended though.

Played the heck out of this game...

This game meets all of your expectations for a game spawned from the likes of MTG and others in a single-player format. The towns/dungeons/quests are straight forward, and are a great way to explore a format like this. The balancing of the cards is quite well done. Also, portrait mode by nature....can’t be beat!I have one request if developers read this and still have an interest in furthering this game (unless a sequel is in the works). The expansions add a decent number of cards, but the campaigns are quite short and don’t allow you take full advantage of them. Lengthening the expansions with an extra town and few extra dungeons seems easy enough and would satisfy players to a huge extent.Anyway, been playing forever, and it’s one of the best pickup game apps if you’re a ccg fan... ever.

Great campaign with MTG/Heathstone gameplay

This is the game I have been looking for. A high level strategy CCG that focuses on a great single player campaign with some RPG elements. Even better is that you cannot buy IAP card packs. The game is already balanced so you pick up cards through play. Other games ramp up the difficulty so high that it pushes you into buying packs in order to progress or compete against others. The game play is very fast and games can finish quickly. I love this game and I am addicted. That said it would be nice to be able to see and play decks from other people. It should not be live PvP, but allow players to publish a deck for others to battle against via AI. Playing against other player decks would help give me ideas for my own decks. You could even select some of the most interesting decks and make another dungeon out of it. I also wish there was a website or forum to talk with others about the game. So far, I love playing red and eventually added a splash of blue for Logic Storm once I got enough dual lands. Also I maxed out my Agility first for the extra gold as you can’t replay dungeons.

Just what I was looking for

This game allows you to play a single battle in just 2-5 minutes. Random drops keep you coming back to get new cards and try different strategies. Thanks for developing the expansions. One thing I’d like to see is the ability to choose the frequency that you get cards versus gold. Can we always get cards and have the option to just sell them for money? At this point in the game, I no longer have a use for gold and it can become a grind to find those rare avatar cards that might be the linchpin for a new deck style. Great game overall, and highly recommended for those looking for an experience that allows for collection of items (cards) and character advancement without a continue to pay to get rarer stuff model. You have to earn the rare stuff. How it should be.
