Great Adventure Game; truncated storyline. Sequel?

This game is graphically awesome - especially the cutscenes. It took me a while to get "into" the game but about an hour into play it picks up. I really enjoyed this, but the ending was a bit.. Anticlimactic? Typically games have more time/budget allocated to the beginning over the ending, because most players never reach the end. But this felt like one of those anime shows that overtakes the manga, and they have to cobble together a satisfactory non-ending for what was otherwise a dope storyline. This felt a bit like one of those shows. Worth your time and $3, most definitely. I hope there's a sequel. It's also possible to screw yourself up by doing the wrong things on the wrong days in the second half of the game, so pay attention to what the character says.

Exceptional

I had my doubts because of the reviews, but I found this game to be an incredible experience. I didn't find it to be at all slow-paced and the puzzles were challenging, but not impossible. Some of them were rather easy to solve. For this type of game, the graphics were above my expectations. I especially liked the atmosphere and the architecture. I could care less about improved animations, although the controls could use some work. I was incredibly impressed with the storyline. Just when I thought the game was about to end, there was a twist that made it anything but over. My only complaint is that the ending seemed forced, as though too much information was shoved into a few cutscenes. I sincerely hope there will be a sequel, because that is the only thing that will be able to excuse the abrupt ending.Overall, this is a great game for anyone looking to solve puzzles and really get thinking. If you're only looking for action and want things to simply progress without having to use your brain, this might not be for you. I think that's what all the bad reviews are about.Five stars, five stars.Hint: for those of you who are stuck at the poker game, keep talking to Tom.

Very nice game

This is up there with Bastion as one of my favorite adventure/rpg games on iOS. The concept is very smart. The puzzles are great-- without any necessary prior experience, you will be building a circuit, dismantling a firearm, taking on a poker shark and beating a chess master. Some of the gameplay suffers from an awkward navigation system, though. Certain rooms and areas only appear if you approach them at a certain angle. I completely missed the kitchen in his apartment for the first few missions, and only found the oven by searching the (irl) internet for a walk through.I just finished for the fist time, but I think I'll play through again and see if anything changes. An alternate ending would be ace, but if not, I'm still satisfied with the experience. Definitely worth the price.

Spectacular Video Scenes

I have never before played a game quite like this one. When starting off, it seemed like an average game, average life, and I thought what is so special about this? Then Boom. First main video scene in slow motion just left me in awe, and through the course of the game were many other stunning scenes that showed the genius creativity of the people who designed this game. It has twists in the story that made me go oh wow, did not expect that! The dialogue made me feel like it was my normal life with normal conversational moments, while at the same time having this huge, secretive adventure. Not sure if I would rate this 12+ with some of the content, and I wish it lasted a lot longer. Cannot wait for the sequel!

Thanks for the brain beating!

Oh my god! Endless dialogue, & that which forces you to go in one direction even though you're given (really just 'play along with') choices, by then of which you will have tapped your fingertips to adnaustic redundance. And - you are being 'trained' to think one way; to be lambasted with zombified socialistic plastic, or be rebuked for not being enough of a feminist,. . . or something. If, and when, you finally get to 'play a game', dare not miss the cue or you'll have to go through the whole recent dialogue all over again before you can tap on to your next clue(if you can find one - most objects that look playable are not). It looks nice & is produced well which is what I usually demand in a purchase; so, if you are willing to go through zombie training, & patiently at that, and forego all personal thought and freedom, then 'by all means' purchase this 'game'. (Yes, I am being sarcastic)

Unique Feel. I really enjoyed it..

I've read a lot of the reviews and I can say I understand where some people come from regarding the ending. But the Devs wrote a blog regarding it and I did feel where they were coming from with it as well. I really enjoyed the game personally. I think if people would put on the headphones, commit to at least 20 or 30 mins of gameplay minimum, it would really make a difference in the satisfaction level the game provides. The soundtrack really sets the tone for the entire feel of the game. Without it, I think it would be very hard to emotionally connect to the game. It's not one you wanna try to get 5 mins of quiet play in here or there. If that's what you're looking for, play something else right then. Don't ruin the game for yourself by not giving it the the dedication it deserves. To truly appreciate it, throw in the headphones, turn off the lights and then give it a go. 5 stars Kickback. Keep doing what you do.

Meh

It's highly intricate, but the story never gets resolved, there are many problems with touch controls, and there's no reason to wear your headphones because sound plays no significant role in gameplay. The English subtitles were clearly not written by a native speaker. That doesn't bother me personally, but if you're going to engage with any actual language in an app/game, you should be embarrassed if your use of that language isn't spot on. Judging from the credits, no one took responsibility for the English, so there's the problem. Leaves me curious about what the story would be like in the other languages offered. The "mini games" were interesting ideas that didn't really translate into games. The set up tended to not make much sense, so the first question I had more often than not was "what am I supposed to be doing?" Even a simple reminder of the game's point and how it works would be helpful.I love a point-and-click adventure, having been playing them since the early 90's, but I'm left feeling like this one was not worth the effort.

Greatest Game Ever!

I am always looking for a good adventure game that is worth the money that I pay for it. This game brings a lot to the table. It is probably MY FAVORITE ADVENTURE GAME that I have. I love mysterious games like this, so I really enjoyed playing it. I really think that you should buy this game. IT'S WORTH THE MONEY! The story is amazing, the graphics are amazing, and in the end, you won't believe what happened! There is something that is so enchanting about this game that makes you never want to put it down! I cannot stress enough how great this game is. Just saying, if you don't like the video preview, still buy it. There is no way that he preview can show how amazing this game is. The ending of this game made me shocked, almost as much as the end of The Sixth Sense! It leaves you with a heaviness in your heart from all the twists and turns. Great game, great story, great everything! I want to thank KickBack for creating such an immersive and incredible game. They are busy at work with the sequel, so I don't think they will be reading this. But if they are, they need to know that there will never be a game like this out there. Also, if they put up the sequel for money, I would still buy it! So, I really think everyone should buy this game!
