Great story!

I never write reviews. This game is so great it deserves a review. The story was well thought and immersive. At times it was almost like reading a novel as the story unfolded. Love the retro graphics and the gameplay wasn't bad. I'll admit one or two puzzles where I needed a walk through because they weren't exactly intuitive.Oh, the voice acting wasn't bad either. I'll admit laughing out loud when Cheffie began losing its mind. I'm looking forward to seeing what else comes from this company.

Marvelous!

I’ve been wanting to write this review, but I wanted to finish the game first! After playing Whispers of a Machine and Kathy Rain, I was looking for another great point and click adventure; I’m delighted to say that I’ve found it! First of all, the story is amazing. If you like mystery/thriller/sci-fi, this is it. The voice acting is top notch, the gameplay is intuitive, and even the portraits are stellar. The puzzles are fair, although there were some parts where you really have to try everything, but the solutions make sense. I did not use any walkthrough. Unfortunately, some games like Broken Sword and Kathy Rain have these mathematical/insane puzzles, but there’s none here. If you get stuck, I would suggest to Google “Technobabylon spoiler free hints”, which I only had to use for the last puzzle. The rest of the game I tried different things every day. I was very satisfied with the endings and look forward to purchasing the sequel! Highly recommended! Love the characters; they really grow on you throughout the game, never in the negative sense.

Masterpiece

Easily one of the best adventure games Ive ever played and probably the single best when it comes to the consideration of the story and characters alone. I’m really blown away by this one and I’m happy to say, as someone who’s beaten it, that it’s glorious from beginning to end. That first set of puzzles....in the opening part of the game? Genius

Wadjet Eye does it again

I have not been disappointed with a Wadjet Eye game yet. Technobabylon is no exception. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far I am absolutely enthralled with this story. For a pixelated, retro, point-&-click adventure the graphics are quite nice and read really clean. The puzzles are intuitive, yet challenging. The solutions make sense, but require some thought. I’ve played the Blackwell games, and Gemini Rue, and this is every bit as good, but I think I like the cyberpunk feel of this one better than the others. Definitely worth the price. I plan to play all of Wadjet Eye’s games eventually.

Old School Point-n-Click To Go!

If you remember clicking on everything on the screen to get all the dialogue, then this game is for you. If you remember randomly mashing items in your inventory together to see if they interact with each other, then this game is for you! This game harkens back to old school adventure games. The graphics are retro but expressive, and the voice acting was well done. The story is interesting and moves along at a reasonable pace. It's worth the $5 price tag if you're a fan of the genre.

Needs better hints!

I wish there was a better type of in game hint system besides the one they have. Doesn't help me at all! Can't even get out of my room in the first scene. Agh. I don't want to have to leave the game to look at a walk through. On my way! Of us really need a good hint system to play these type of games. Graphics are good. Not sure how the rest of the game is because I can't get out of the first room. I won't give this game any less than 4 stars, because I can't figure out what to do, just want a better help/hint system though. (I Don't like it when others give lower stars because they personally have issues, and it's not the game. )Love the input the developers and the rest of gang did. Very interesting to see what or how things were made and what was taken out of the game. Please put a better hint system within the game. Like, if I were to click a ? It would tell me what my next move would be.. I really would like to finish this game. Thanks!

What a great game for my iPad

I think this is a very well done game. Graphics are decent and so are the character voices. The storyline is very good and it provided me a lot of great playable time on some long flights I had to take. I do wish these games would provide a hint button or something when you get absolutely stuck. I do have to mention there is a glitch to the game and that is toward the end with the wrench. If the wrench is inserted in the elevator control panel and you start to go up and stop the elevator when the wall partially blocks the view of the elevator panel, you cannot take the wrench out and there is nothing you can do about it, other than to reload a previous scene and play all over again. This happened to me twice.

Brilliant story

The story line behind this game was genius. Really surprised by the amount of thought put into the creation of the characters and their world (especially for a game I paid less than five bucks for). Puzzles were also fun as well. I felt like the puzzles were fair and intuitive. You didn't have to make huge leaps in logic to progress. Of the four games made by this company in the app store, this was my favorite, but Shardlight was a very close 2nd. Well done game creators!

Great game but 1 issue

I’m at the station in the scene where you become the moving robot. I’m playing on an iPad so the movement is dictated by pressing on something that is a option. I come out of the autopsy room and need to make a left toward that waiting room where the girl and boy are. I can’t select anything near that direction that will move the robot toward the room. At this point I am stuck. I’m unsure how to move as I can only move to a spot where something exists for me to look up. Any ideas?

Fun, almost completely intuitive

I bought this ages ago, just recently had time to play. I love a game that is challenging but intuitive (I.e. not such random leaps that you need a walkthrough to progress). This game was 95% if not more that. Tbh there was only one time I felt the leap to an answer to be beyond one’s natural observation. (Final scene final door lock). I was lazy the other couple times, made sense in hindsight. Do not rely upon the tap/hold to show you all interactive options as not all scenes include all options. Not fast paced, kind of a reader, but interesting throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. FYI I am a casual gamer who prefers a point and click adventure, with story/logic based puzzles to a platformer or battle experience.

Description

City of Newton, 2087. Genetic engineering is the norm, the addictive Trance has replaced almost any need for human interaction, and an omnipresent AI named Central powers the city. CEL agents Charlie Regis and Max Lao are investigating a serial Mindjacker who is tapping into the neural wiring of seemingly ordinary citizens, stealing their knowledge and leaving them dead.

An agoraphobic net addict named Latha Sesame might be the next target. But when Charlie's past comes back to haunt him, he and his partner find themselves on opposite sides of the law, with Latha’s fate in the crossfire. -- Reviews (Windows version) -- PC Gamer - "An old school point-and-click adventure with a captivating story, strong characters, and a rich, well-realised sci-fi setting." 80% Rock, Paper, Shotgun - "Set in a semi-dystopian future, the game features multiple protagonists exploring a tale of genetic engineering, AI overseers, mysterious mind-hacking murders, and overlapping online and offline worlds. It is, in that sense, delightfully pulp sci-fi. But it's also a delicate story of individuals, personal struggles, and most of all, a nuanced approach to complex future-worries." Adventure Gamers - "Technobabylon is a beautiful, compelling game that fans of the cyberpunk genre will devour" 4/5 GameSpot - "When the going gets tough, the tough sometimes take a fishing pole and start fishing in a bloody Jacuzzi stuffed with a mutilated body. That's, at least, the lesson you learn in Technobabylon, a point-and-click adventure that's set in 2087 in a city where a powerful AI controls and observes all." 8/10
