Indespensible

I have been usimg this App since it was first released. I find it indespensible in identifyig devices connected to my network. When I have a problem, the first place I look is at the scan of my network to see if a device is not responding. The ping feature has helped mw many time to identify a device that has been unplugged is offline when I do not expect it to be or is havong a connectoin problem. It is quick, I can name devices for easier identificstion and it has never crashed on me. Not once, which is more than I can say for many other Apps. I really do find it indespensible. I hope the developers continue to keep it up to date as MacOS continues to evolve.

The Best

It’s not perfect, and it’s much more expensive, but it’s the best by far. I *wasted* a few dollars here, a few dollars there, trying others. Just save your time and money and get this one from the start. I only wish it knew more specifically what type of devices are associated with certain MAC addresses, particularly Apple devices.

I Agree ... Indispensible

When trying to think of what I might say that woiuld capture my experience with this App, I happened to glance at another review title: Indispensible. It sums up in a word my feelings about IP Scanner Pro. I'm not trained in networking beyond stuff I've just picked up along the way. It's not something I use professionally at all. But, I find I'm constantly using it to troubleshoot problems with my network. It's easy to use and has helped me out countless times. Highly recommended.

Crashes frequently on large/diverse networks

I have a home/business network of over 120 devices. Wirh a PRO app, I would expect more robustness from such a tool but I find that this tool crashes on a regular basis whenever the network "changes". By that I mean, whenever an assigned IP addr has changed. For example, device with a duplicate IP address will come on the network and after discovering this (which is why you use such a tool as this in the first place) the scanner will crash either when the device is reassigned or taken off line. In other words, the reliability of this tool has gotten worse and worse with each new "update". It is time to finde a new one.

Solves Problems Regularly

I have a large and busy home network. This app is often exactly what I need to "find" devices and begin to solve problems. It works consistently with no drama and I'm happy to have it as part of my arsenal on both iOS and MacOS. Pay for the pro version -- you'll be very happy you did.

It’s Good for a GUI Scanner

It’s not terrible, and its not Great. It’s good. For me it’s quicker than writing a bash/Terminal script. You can create ranges to scan and save them, along with port scanning. You can initiate a HTTP/VNC etc.. connection from the application which is nice. my only gripes are that it can be combersome to navigate the menus. It’s difficult to disable multiple nic scanning. Example; I have have several nics and I can’t disable the scanning of those subnets.. Other than that its pretty good.

Good Enough

Some cosmetic issues, the interface could use some more thought, and it crashes occasionally. The handling of custom names and icons isn't as robust as it might be. It does, however, get the job done and is much faster than getting the equivalent information from the CLI. I use it frequently.

Home User

I've been able to use this app to identify the devices on our home network. The gateway and routers on my net don't identify all connections. This app showed the virtual net from my DirecTV.I'm an ametuar geek, this is the best app I've found for monitoring my home net. I never would have guessed there were 36 networked devices in our home.

Very practical, very simple

This apps is great for those that need to quickly answer the question -- what all is connected to my network? I appreciate the simple user interface to see what is going on. I'd like to be able to compare what is seen now to a given snapshot in the past so one star left for that feature.

Great tool

This is the perfect tool for keeping track of and organizing my IP addresses in my house. I have around the 60 wired and wireless devices in my house. This device helps me identify devices using my DHCP range so I can assign static reservations for them in my router, or at lease understand what they are and investigate if they shouldn't be there. Wonderful tool.
