Fizzles.

Not really a horror or a puzzler. The atmosphere this game promises to have before you buy it is sadly the most fun you’ll have. Essentially, the character only interacts with himself to build a somewhat variable story of no consequence. At best, a good concept that falls flat.

Definitely worth it

I would love to see a sequel to this game. I love games like this that are mysterious and pixelated

Interesting but too creative for its own good (mild spoilers)

Home is a good game conceptually but spins too wide and open of a web to really capture my imagination. At the end you are left with essentially no reward for everything you did other than more confusion. I suppose their is a literary style that this is based on but the best authors like Poe still manage to capture your imagination, your horror, your mind and give you the finish. So in the end you are left with just your thoughts here instead. And there is no possible story which fits all the variables provided within. Please continue to write though. The App Store needs more unique tales like this. One suggestion to the player: definitely try and dedicate time to this start to finish. A lot gets lost if you play it 30 mins at a time. Good luck!

Awesome!

The only problem I’m running into is it keeps freezing and I can’t go past the rusty ladder under water. Anyway to fix it freezing?

Subtle Amazement

Not sure of what to expect, I put on the headphones, sat in the dark with black light and my wine, and started this up. Absolutely worth it. I didn’t stop until I finished it. A few years later I decided I had to give it another go. This is a game where storytelling, ambience, and the possibilities of changing the horrible events of our lives can be so simply and beautifully expressed in pixels. 10 out of 5.

Amazing psychological horror game

And good on you dev for the continued support and updates! I can tell you it’s ALWAYS extra appreciated to see classics like this still getting updates to improve the gaming experience years later

Anticlimactic

I like puzzle, horror, and pixel games and was pretty excited about Home. An hour and a half later, I’m wishing I didn’t spend my money on it. The story is at its most interesting about halfway through, before taking a random, confusing, and uninspired turn at the end. The way that the story ends leaves you with no answers and not enough curiosity or investment to go looking. It feels like the plot of the game was never actually decided, so it goes in a dozen different directions- not in an exciting, choose-your-own-adventure way, but in a way that drains all emotion from the story. Since there’s nothing in the way of a concrete storyline, there’s nothing for the player get attached to or curious about. I think I know what the developers were going for, but the game is just...flat.

Great try, but misses the mark

It was a lot of aimless searching/discovery and I never felt truly invested enough to care. I typically like games that offer a different approach, but this left a lot to be desired. I encourage the developer to keep at it, but I do regret making this purchase.

It's Great!

I kinda expected a few jumpscares, but it's still creepy. If I was the guy u play, I'd be freaking out! There was also a creepy whisper somepoint in the game. Why did I play this at night?

Truly amazing

Touching, suspenseful, and just plain out fun, however it was a bit short, but still worth the money

Description

Home is a unique horror adventure set in a beautifully-realized pixel world. It’s a murder mystery with a twist—because you decide what ultimately happens. ******* 4.5 out of 5 stars — TouchArcade PG Silver Award — PocketGamer ******* Awakened by an oncoming storm, you open your eyes to discover yourself in a strange, dark room—tucked away in a house that’s not yours. It's a horror game unlike any other, and as you'll discover, its truths are entirely subjective. ******* FEATURES: - an intimate, story-based adventure that you control - a horrific mystery tale where your decisions matter - a creepy soundtrack that brings you deep into the world - gorgeous, illustrative pixel style ******* CRITICAL ACCLAIM: "A sophisticated, horrifying narrative experiment." — The Verge "Keeps you intellectually engaged even when you aren't playing it." — Gamespot "Leaves one mulling its final moments well after the credits have rolled." — Torontoist
