upon further review, it’s okay

I wrote my first review—a 1 star one—after the devs updated the game to the current version. It wiped my progress and changed quite a bit of how the game works, which was incredibly frustrating. Having now continued to play it, I can say I’m still irritated that I lost all my progress, but the set up is better. There’s some things I don’t like, like how it no longer tells me the net gain/loss of items (only listing what’s coming in and out), and I do NOT understand how a wolf is a healer, but it’s solid. It’s not the game I initially signed up to play; it has rules about how many of each unit I’m allowed in my army and I can’t make a town of just barracks and storage, but they are sensible if annoying rules.

Some praise and some bugs

First of all, thank you for making this voiceover accessible! I bought the gold edition after about five minutes of playing, and this is just a great game all around. Two little flaws I’ve noticed are this: one. Once you have 43 houses, and 17 storage built, you can’t build any more of either because it is impossible to come up with the required materials.Two. When trying to fight the ogre kingdom, you can send your army there, but once you try and hit the start battle button, it just kicks you back to the main world screen as if you hit the retreat button.I think you did a wonderful job making this game, so much so that this is the only game I ever reviewed, and I hope to see more in the future! Thanks again.

Criminally Underrated

This game provides incredible bang for your buck; especially as a F2P player. You are only (to my knowledge) capped in obtaining bonus resources. Not resources in general, you just get fewer BONUS resources. Not NO bonus resources. Just fewer. I have been playing this game for nearly two years and haven’t ran out of things to do. You can manage an army and expand your empire, turtle and horde resources, worry about the aesthetics of your city, min-max supply chains, and so much more. All F2P. No ads. In app purchases are limited to increasing those bonus resources mentioned earlier, increasing build queue, UI Color options, and cosmetics for your town. I have personally purchased all of the contents to support the developer but I cannot stress enough I could have just as much fun without them. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

Filling a Hunger I Didn’t Know I Had

I’ve been sick of the usual stuff on the app store, but desperately hungering for a game to play that i could enjoy. This game feels like one that’s made with actual play in mind, versus games made with conning players into spending money in mind. Used to be these types of games were simply about strategy and the aspect of waiting long enough for materials to come in, but not so long that you waste opportune spending time. Nowadays, they’re just coverups for Gacha games and loot boxes. Not this one. This one feels like a GAME. I don’t really care about flashy graphics and animations. I don’t want loot boxes. I’m happy to spend the $7 to support an indie game that genuinely feels good and relaxing because I’m not getting absolutely SPAMMED with ads and tutorial messages and “30% OFF 18 DIFFERENT PACKAGES IF YOU BUY RIGHT NOW” messages, one after another. There’s no UI bursting with things I don’t understand. The music is really lovely. The graphics are exactly what they need to be. It’s a grand time.

Love it so much!!!

It’s super addicting and fun to play! I have some suggestions though for new features. 1)Allow players to buy upgrades to speed up building new buildings. There’s instructors to speed up training your army but not anything to speed up constructing buildings. 2)Allow for an option to place shamans on two aspects of soul wells, or be able to choose how many shamans on each, such as 3 on fruiting and 4 on growing for example. 3)An option to direct attacks on certain character types or on strength. Kinda like bloons tower defense, let us pick where our damage wants to go on an opposing army such as on the strongest troops first or on a specific class like healers. If these features were added to the game, it would be 100% my favorite game this year, and without them it still is a fantastic game!

Fun game, progress halts quickly

I was having a lot of fun playing this, I am very big on idle games. The part that is basically ruining this game for me however is the crystals. Using the soul wells is not only confusing, but not tailored to idle play at all. I basically cannot progress any further because every time I get on I have no crystals due to them being used for armor, or I have a full storage which runs out very quickly as the upgrades for homes gets very expensive. I’m basically at a stand still, I don’t have time to sit down and balance out the soul wells but before now this was a game I could pick up, do some stuff, and come back to later. Other than that it’s been very enjoyable.

It is quite good, but I do have a gripe with it

I’ve been enjoying the game quite a bit, playing almost every day. One of the core progression aspects in the game revolves around a material called Mercury, which is produced via soul wells. You can use your shamans to increase either the speed or rewards of these soulwells. My issue is with the rewards. I have three soulwells, the maximum without a premium version. I recently moved to a 100%+ reward with my shamans, which understandably doubled my output. That curbed me over with mercury supply temporarily, but more recently I decided I needed more and built a large amount of soulwells leading to my shamans bringing 300%+ rewards… or they should have. Despite having what should quadruple my output, I only double my output. I still only get six mercury per cycle, when if the rewards worked properly I would get twelve. That’s the only gripe I have though, and I’m writing this review hoping it gets fixed, but it truly is otherwise a great game.

An Actual Game!

This is an idle game, which is what I was looking for. But it is also an ACTUAL GAME! It has a start and an ending, you read right, an actual ending. There is ZERO monetization, ZERO ads. There is one micro transaction possible and it is to basically give the dev a little money and you get a couple perks. You can play this full game start to finish without the purchase if you want, and if you do pay the perks aren’t game breaking, so it’s not a pay to win. This dev deserves to be placed amount the saints for actually making a video game. Thank you dev, please support people who make real video games by buying the gold version of this game, don’t waste money on micro transactions and cosmetics with AAA devs, support true devs.

Addictive and Exciting

Lately, my mind has been on the coronavirus pandemic and the uninspiring way my country has been tackling it. So when I found this game, I thought it would be fun to try out, especially since it had been made accessible with VoiceOver. Three days later and I've been totally sucked in! I have no idea how to use the soulwells. Can I choose what is made from them, or do they just randomly create whatever I may need at any given time? Nevertheless, I have been enjoying myself and this sure beats worrying about the dreaded COVID-19. If there was a way to support the game (I already bought the Gold version right after downloading this even before knowing anything about what it offered), I would do so. Perhaps there could be a tip jar to support this project and its continued expansion. I'm glad I am not compelled to keep spending money, but I would like to throw in some clams from time to time to express my gratitude, both for making this accessible and for keeping me hooked with all the different monsters. Absurd underlings has been my favorite so far. Thank you again for an idle adventure that has kept me coming back for more.

Enjoyed it

Game was great, been playing it for a couple weeks now. I just reached the end of the story and enjoyed reading about the world. The game is idle for the most part you can come back every few minutes or every few hours and you’ll have something to do. Scratched a town building itch without all the visuals and MTX that other games have. Felt very smooth and was a little slow at first but once you start understanding the world it makes more sense.A few things to note. Troop targeting, I think tank troops need to be attacked first or set it up so front line troops are more likely to get attacked. Where I’m at now, I start a battle and the next thing I’m doing is training 50 more healers because they are attacked first. I love the “Send troops to Valhalla” feature. Factories, they are broken. It does take a few days to set up but once you have 100 factories built, it snowballs and you get more resources in a game tic than you could ever need. I’m at about 600 factories and ONE worker gives me 47 BILLION of that resources. I would say model them instead of a flat 5% make it an increasing exponential decay function. I know you don’t have a lot of late game features but no matter what you do unless they are reworked factories are broken. I loved the game and I am looking forward to seeing it grow. Meanwhile I will build more factories. xD
