Amazing / at last

For close to 40 years, I have been trying to meditate and in the last 10 days, with FitMind, I have made great strides than I have in the last 40 years. One of the first things I heard about mediations, years ago was, just sit there with your eyes closed and try to internally see your 3rd eye. I had no idea what they were talking about?Over the years, I would try to ask so called “seasoned meditators” question and basically what I was told was, “Stick with it kid, you’ll get it!” Ahhh yea, I don’t know anything about guns either, and applying that same advice could easily get me shot in the head!I stumbled onto this app, or it found me at last and THANK GOD! This Liam guy, in 10 days, has answered more questions, and has 10 me things which I never knew. I honestly am starting to feel more peace in my life. I am looking at my angry out burst differently and over all, I am becoming gentler with myself and those around me.I am using this app twice a day, once as soon as I get up, and once in the evening. Listen to the lesson first, and then go into the practice. I am so pleased with the app and my progress and I hope it continues. I look forward to continuing onwards, getting better and stronger and going deeper into meditation, and the work this Liam does.10 star rating! Sincerely Jim CoughlinAmherst, NY

No McMindfulness or “Stress-Busting Tips” Here

At work we all have a co-worker who has been doing yoga for 500 years, or recently has come back from a mindfulness retreat in space, or has promised a secret visualization could make you lose so much weight you would exist only in the astral plane and sparkle. Liam McClintock and his team have created the most exciting science-based app for meditation I’ve ever seen. This app puts meditation in the context of “training your mind” in a similar way as “training your body.” There is programming around breathing basics, awareness, endurance—this space is too small to go into detail. Tracking your progress is motivating. There are reading recommendations, daily challenges, and my favorite: podcasts with neuroscientists and psychologists.*More than anything, these people care about others.* When I cancelled my subscription because of financial difficulties, they reached out to me. Without going into details, they gave me an incredibly open-hearted gift. That motivated me to write this review. I am grateful for these human beings. If you like hard things, if you like getting out of your comfort zone, if you like learning about focus, pain and placebos, the way your mind structures your experience—try this kind of training. (It is totally compatible with astronomical and astral adventures too.)

The most intelligent meditation app

Hi I am Lia Montelongo a long standing fitness enthusiast and current yoga and meditation teacher amoung othe Fitness classes at Equinox. After listening to just a few of the lessons offered on this app I am blown away at how simple yet intelligent the information is communicated so that anyone at any level of mindfulness & meditation practice can gain new access. It might be because of my background in fitness as a personal trainer, fitness competitor, group fitness instructor or it might be because I’m a single mother working full time and raising my son full time that these short segments are so appealing. I rarely take time to write a review because I am so busy. But this is a must review for yourself. FitMind offers the free trial so why not just give it a try and then it’s only $4.99 monthly. That’s the price of a Starbucks coffee! FitMind is a way better way to get that pick me up you are searching for. Awesome work FitMind!

Very scientifically based, good for intellectuals

I am a researcher in cognitive neuropsychology focusing on empathy, and have attended events at the Mind and Life institute (for instance) on contemplative science. This app is one of the few that applies empirical research with a deep integrated focus for the design and dissemination of the mobile application and the lessons. The speaker’s voice is very easy on the ears. It doesn’t dumb-down the content, which I really like, and I don’t feel like I’m being sold on a way of life in a consumerist way, which is how I felt when using Calm, for instance. I’d recommend this app to people who are spiritually and intellectually inquisitive and already reading up on mindfulness, Buddhist philosophy, phenomenology, and the mind-body connection (for example). I love that the app uses The Headless Way, a Strange practice from Douglas Harding that was my first “awakening” into philosophy when I was a young girl and first read it. App seems very practical and useful — I’m looking forward to my journey with it! Again, I just want to emphasize how rare it is to find an app like this that treats the user as a very intellectual person and doesn’t try to over-simplify the content. I personally really love that.

This is the app you want

I have tried to practice meditation off and on for 10 years. This is the first app/program/course I’ve found that has made settling into this practice so practical, informative, and rewarding. The simple (though not necessarily easy!) daily trainings of the initial 30 days help you to establish the basic building blocks so that with or without the app you are able to use what you’ve trained. The lessons accompanying each training are informative, inspiring, and well researched without any fluff or overly complicated explanations. I’ve certainly noticed an improvement in my attention, mood, enjoyment of everyday life, and overall mental well-being.My only suggestion would be to not force yourself to move ahead to the next lesson right away. As I went through the initial 30 day program I found it helpful to repeat days and go back to earlier trainings to reinforce the techniques. It’s not a race, it’s a practice.

The app that keeps on giving

I am really loving this app. The playlists you can make are very flexible and provide endless ways to to tailor the lessons to your needs and priorities. The initial lessons themselves were good and I find the voice of the narrator to be very soothing and perfect for this training. The playlists help you go well beyond that. I love that the trainings are organized by category so it helps you zero in on what you want to focus on. I start one at night while falling asleep and let it go from one to the next until I’m ready for silence. This app surprised me. So many of these kinds of things are limited but this one fits the bill. Just focusing on how to breathe to reduce stress has helped me. I also liked the training on stoicism. These concepts and techniques have endured the test of time. Good job ! Well worth the subscription.

Thank you Liam!

I was in school studying and felt terrible, a lot of going through the motions, prioritizing future goals and suppressing the negative feelings I had about where I was at in life. Living with an indescribable feeling of discomfort. I decided to leave school and pursue my creativity. I started learning through the fitmind podcast, then started to use the app to learn how to properly meditate, and learn more about myself. I’m 23 trying to grow a start up, there are so many fails that one must endure in order to build a good foundation,I credit these meditative practices to helping ensure these many hills. Increasing my mental stamina I am ready for the next. Many start ups travel to the Himalayas to gain this insight, but Liam brings it to us, in the most effective way. Helping me grow simultaneously with my business. It’s effective, productive and helps me to be more present everyday, making me confident in my work.

Perfectionists, ADD’ers, analytical, linear, & needing structure minds

This one’s for you. The learning based, factual data, and scientific explanations are engaging to my ADD brain. The information given is intriguing and absolutely vital for me to meditate. I need interesting, or my brain will be wondering to something more interesting. The sessions are short (again, ADD brain) and I get more from 6 minutes than I do with 20 minutes with other apps. The lessons get longer as you progress, but the idea is to build a foundation and build from there. And Liam’s voice and tone are spot on. Yes, I use this app for real, and No, I haven’t been paid to write this review. However, I am more than happy to accept a free subscription, if Liam wants to be generous. Just a little bird in your ear, Liam.

God Bless us all

This is a great way to start the day off with some more information about your project and how it works for me. Meditation is a outlet for me I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia where I hear voices but the voices I hear are my mother and my brother both are live and live in the same state 10 miles away from me. We talk here and there lately I haven’t been keeping in touch as I normally would I’m looking for everything and anything books documents, PDF files, data information on computers, technology, science, physics, health, everything the body can do to recover my mindset back to being me, not listening and letting them tear me down as I know them to do and dictate everything in my life. I’m done with it. I found this app on Apple store and I love this one. Thank you for this app and thank you Lord. All I need is this every day in my reading and breathing to help rebuild my activity everything I’m weak I don’t feel great always sad, but I don’t let them I just, and I try to ignore them is all I can do Alaska‘s please pray for all of us in the world you are, you’re good. Keep being good be great, all his suffering starve, abused, mentally physically every way, possible love will be made to really help and pray because the Lord is with you all around you and I see the light all day down on me and forgive me. I send my love to each and everyone around the world good bad, and the ugly may you find what I found FitMind. Thank you, Tara. Anchors Alaska.

Great trainings and lessons

The Fitmind app does a great job of teaching a variety of types of mindfulness and exercises. Liam clearly conveys themes behind these practices and is a highly learned and approachable teacher. The pairing of training and lesson helps to solidify aspects that in other apps would remain loosely defined or airy. Here even some of the short lessons are chock-full of and dense with useful, applicable information, lessons such as (but not limited to) Equanimity, Virtual Simulator, Pain vs. Suffering, On Dying, Emotional Baggage, Unselfing, Craving and Addiction, SLOPs, Triggers, Stories, At War, Flexible Beliefs, Letting Go, Dependent Origination, and The Root of Agitation. I took notes myself on many lessons and trainings but at some point the app was updated and now offers helpful summaries and bullet points. Great stuff. I highly recommend Fitmind for being non-intimidating, clear, in-depth and practical. I've had the app for quite a few years and it's still teaching me and is updated with new trainings and features (podcast, research etc.). Just wonderful!
