Updated and Great

Nice update. It has previous stability issues all fixed. It is the only DOF tools that allows one to switch between lens and camera profiles easily. It is very easy to use. Kudos to the author for providing this useful tool.

Best dof calculator for iOS

Better than any of the other dof calculators out there - simple interface, accurate calcs, and gives you everything you need.

Simple, easy, it just works.

I looked at quite a few more complex DoF calculators. Besides costing two bucks and up, it looked like they didn't work as well as this one. Pros: Once you select your camera and lens in this app, everything you need is on one screen--no toggling back and forth to change settings and then flipping to another screen to see the results. Cons: It doesn't seem to be able to show a result less than .1 feet. When you're doing close-up or macro work, that's not enough precision. One tenth of a foot implies that you've got 1.2" of DoF to work with, when in reality, you may only have a tiny fraction of an inch. But overall, it's an absolute bargain at the price (Free!).Suggestions for future versions: 1) On the lens specification pages, allow entry of the closest focus distance, and use it as the minimum 2) For results less than a foot, show the result in feet and inches, like 8.5" instead of .7' 3) As noted above, show results below .1 feet.

Works Great! Very Useful App for Photographers

Thanks for putting together this free app. I'm surprised at all the low ratings. The app works fine. If you want to change the type of camera, hit the "i" located on the lower right corner.

Always useful, now attractive again!

I've had this app since 2010, and have kept it through many generations of iPhones. Over the years the interface felt increasingly dated, but it was so useful I couldn't part with it. I fully expected it to become obsolete with iOS 11, but was surprised with an update today! What a treat to see a developer maintain their tools.

Great free product

Customizable and accurate. I would not use it for macro work. But then again that is not why i wanted the product. I would recommend this to any one to help improve their photography. Also it would be great if it had function to calculate when you are diffraction limited to prevent people from going to a too small aperture setting on their cameraThe only other con for this is that it does not compute the hyperfocal distance on large lenses properly.u Not that I am going to be taking any hyperfocal shots at 100 mm plus but I may want to selectively focus on some areas.

This is for version 2.2Aperture is much better.Still in this new version'Distant to subject' sliders are much too touchy. It would be much better to have spinners or a way to type in the distance as feet +inches or meter + centimeter. At present I get close then need to rock my finger back and forth to get closer to the distance needed. When I lift my finger the distance changes. One can take too long fiddling with distant to subject settings. Also, moving ones finger below the line makes the screen turn to settings, so, the instructions are incorrect.

The best DOF app I've seen so far

Very nice. I especially like the ability to preset it with the details of each of your lenses. My only critique is that I would like to see the "Distance to subject" slider be less sensitive, expecially for shorter distances (e.g., when doing macro photography, it's hard to set the distance accurately).

Great app!!

I use this every time I shoot. Adding inches to the display was great. Thank you.Can you please make the sliders less sensitive? It is very hard to get specific measurements. I don't actually want dials. This will add another step to an already elegantly simple layout. Just make them less sensitive or like they behave when you watch a movie; you can drag down to change the sensitivity.

It works but don't know how to use

I haven't found any problems but it would be nice how to use either with a tutorial or a instruction page for those that have never used this before. I am one of them
