Finally, an update

This used to be my favorite browser back in 2017 and earlier, then it would crash every 15-20 min. every time I used it. So I finally gave up on it when it was not updated for fixes. I think I left a 1 or 2 star review. Recently I found out that there was an update for it since I also had a real old iPad that can't run IOS 10 so it had an old Dolphin version on it. I updated it and so far it's working great. Going to start using it on my newer iPad too, more so since a recent Chrome update broke the bookmark setting feature and can't fix it despite trying half-baked solutions on forums. Hope Dolphin keeps working and gets updated every now and then.Oops, on my older iPad under iOS 9.x Dolphin opens in the horizontal position but not so on my much newer iPad Pro where I need to open it in Portrait position. Deducting one star.

Settings & Menu Features are disabled / Won’t Open at Landscape position on ipad !?!?!?

My once trusted & goto browser on my ipad...Now looking for a new browser...after two Dolphin requested Updates within 6 months apart...it never performed the same. From a darling to a dud.6 months ago, I did their requested update, only to find that it would not open at landscape position on my ipad. I then figured out, it only launched at portrait position. I did not want to delete the app and reinstall it due to my vast saved bookmarks and my custom settings. So I lived with it, launching it at portrait position then reverting back to my preferred landscape. Annoying, but I continued on with you.Yesterday (June 24, 2020), I did a dolphin requested update...only to find that the Settings and Menu features are not responsive/ does not open/disabled...nothing! This is the last straw...and I am so now deleting this app and going to use another browser!! Not pleased of what this browser has now become...epic fail!! I have championed your browser to my family & friends, who otherwise favored & touted your highly famed-competitors... So embarrassed now! I am very disappointed that we have to part ways now. Au Revoir!

Dolphin Browser having problems do not recommend

I liked the browser and up until recently it was syncing great. Has anyone else had problems with the sync? Bookmarks sync right yet it cannot find any other devices even though I have both an iphone and an ipad on it. Because, of this glich I cannot give it a 5 star rating. I dropped the rating even more. They are no longer responsive to emails about concerns you may have about their app. Now it is putting bookmarks in the speed dial I did not ask for or want. I no longer recommend this browser until they fix these problems. As of IOS12 most of this browser is useless. It is unable to find other ios devices, can no longer sync bookmarks or tabs and is unable to log into facebook. They still have not updated it in over a year. Do not download it is a useless waste of space. The browser is worse than ever. Sync still not working and when working with bookmarks it continually crashes. This browser has seen better days and I will no longer recommend it. Be wary of the great ratings as the developers are offering a bribe for 5 stars.

A workaround for the Crash with iOS13

Update to earlier review: I saw a below review saying that someone got Dolphin to open, after the iOS 13 crash issues, by opening the app while the iPad was held in Portrait (vertical) mode - not Landscape (horizontal). I just tried that, and it works! No crashing. I was able to successfully turn the iPad from vertical to horizontal once Dolphin was already open, too. It’s a strange workaround, but I’ll take it!Original review:I just updated my iPad to iOS13, and now Dolphin crashes upon opening, every single time! I see that’s the case with other people, too. Dolphin apparently needs an update to be compatible with the new OS. Until it gets one, it’s useless as a browser.

Why haven’t they updated!?

Even without an update for over one year this is still one of the best browsers. Not all the ads are always blocked now, but I’ve never had any problems and I’ve never even crashed once. It might not be as fast loading websites as others but I don’t think it’s that much of a difference. I still use it today because it has the best desktop mode I’ve seen. One where you can always be in desktop without having to request it on every website, and it works great. Some others might have that I’m not sure. Web pages also load from top down and not bottom up which is how a lot of browsers work for me, so if your stuck with slow internet it’s great. No idea how browsers work or why web pages and images load from the bottom first from most browsers I use but it’s annoying, and this one doesn’t so I really like it.

Inconsistent, but great when it works

Using an iPad Air as my only computer, I realized that most browsers in the App Store did not support Flash. As a student, a lot of software my university employs like Macmillan’s Launchpad utilize Flash. This browser is a great way to add Flash capability to the iPad, giving it even more utility and closing the gap between iPad and full-fledged computer. I’ve had problems with this browser, however, with it not being able to open. Tapping on the icon in my home screen will launch the app, and at the launch screen the app will force close. This inconsistency in function hampers what great features this browser does have. Cleaning up bugs will make this a sure 5-star product.

Desperately needs updating

This once great browser is nearly useless now due to constant crashes. I am using an iPad Mini 3 and iOS 11.3.1. I have deleted the browser and reinstalled it but the same problems remain. I believe the crashes began with a recent iOS 11 update. The browser behaves erratically now. Ad blocking no longer appears to be working. The browser seems to run slower than it used to even with one tab open and all cookies and content cleared. As you begin working within the browser, it eventually begins to grind down and act more strangely. Pages will partially load. Images on pages will partially load. Then, the browser will freeze for 30 seconds or more in between page loads. Until finally the browser crashes completely. Showing patience with this browser has become an exercise in frustration. The only reason I show it such patience is a testament to the one-time greatness of this browser. Seven months is far, far too long to go without a browser update. Is this browser dead? I sure hope not, but I fear it might be the end.

Excellent app, your hair will turn back to its natural color

After frustrating attempts over months to get my Ancestry entries to behave, I loaded in Dolphin, end of trouble. Okay, so the files are on the large size....but I can work through Dolphin for this site, it's bliss. You'll have to find annoying pop up ads someplace else, Dolphin swallows ads in one gulp. Only been on it for three weeks, bet I'm missing other good stuff Dolphin does, I'll look with pleasure. To the reviewer here who considers a bribe to be invited to review....has s/he ever written a comprehensive review and thought, there should be compensation for this.

Still the best...

This was once the best available browser but is badly in need of an update. However, if you're using a device that won't accept an update to iOS 10 or higher this is still the browser for you. I have an old iPad Mini running 9.35 and while yes, it does crash, it crashes far less than the highest version of Safari the device will accept as an update. Dolphin has features so obvious you wonder why all browsers don't include them as a matter of course.So take that old Mini or iPad/iPhone out of the drawer, dust it off, download Dolphin Browser, which is still the best browser for older devices and have an emergency spare or give it to your youngest kid. They'll be happy... at least for awhile, and that's the best you can ever hope for :)

Please update again.

I hadn't upgraded my iPad for a while and was able to run the app by holding the iPad vertically until it loaded, then moved it back to horizontal. It ran okay-ish. Major issue for me (when it worked), was that it would cancel out a site when going back a page within a tab. If you forgot what site you came from, so did Dolphin! It was random, so anything important would always need to be bookmarked.I upgraded to iOS 14 today and it's doing as everyone else is saying, it crashes at launch. Been trying to find out if there is any way to download bookmarks. If I remember correctly, it doesn't sync w/Safari even when it's working. This is the pain point for me, not being able to access those bookmarks.I would highly suggest staying away from this app. It took over a year for an update, which disabled it. The update didn't anticipate iOS 14 and who knows how long it'll take for the next one. I wish they would do something because this app does help cut down on ads and I do like using it more than Safari.
