The touring plans are great but ...

My wife and I got to Disneyland Park at 12:30pm on a day we planned to get there before the 8:00am opening time. Life interfered. We had fun judging the accurate wait times for various attractions displayed on this app, saw displayed Fast Pass return times, and was able to plan accordingly. We had a blast! Next time we went, we used a personalized touring plan and we saved hours waiting in line. Bless you web designer Len Testa. I also love your Disneyland and Walt Disney World Unofficial Guide Books.I know what you're wondering. You ask "If you love us so much, why 4 stars and not 5?" Now that I live in Los Angeles, I became an Annual Pass holder. It allows me to hop between parks. Your personalized touring plans doesn't have the option of designing a plan that would mesh Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure together for a one-day two-park plan. That would be so helpful.I am also going to nitpick, but I probably wouldn't have taken a star away for this. On your list of attractions to ride, along with listing each Disneyland Railroad Station separately, you should also have a one circuit around the park choice too."Thanks for riding and enjoy the rest of your stay at the Disneyland Resort.."

Not helpful

We took our kids to Disneyland for the first time this week. I haven’t been in years. My twins are 5. I attempted to use the app and create plans for the best of with kids day and other suggested similar plans. I had a hard time going back and forth on the app trying to locate the plans I created bcuz everytime I had to use my phone for something else it would kick me out. Took too much time to get back to where I needed which o didn’t have the patience for while trying to plan my day. Got to Disneyland City Hall to talk to them about plan for day and clarification on best way to use our Max Pass. Showed her the plan from this app and she told me it was way too much jumping around to do with kids and lay out a plan for me step by step with what rides to go on, when to plan next fast pass.... etc. and it was perfect. For me, this app was useless and I didn’t even use it. All I needed was the Disneyland app and I had everything I needed for both parks. Disappointed I paid for this not to get anything out of it.

Super useful for planning, needs improvement for on the fly use

Loved the concept of the Lines app. I had my 12yo create and optimize her own plans to identify priorities. Appreciated being able to set parameters like max pass and magic morning. Agree with the feedback that being able to create a joint plan for both parks (with a Hopper parameter) would be super useful.Using the app at Disneyland was clunkier than expected. It would be really useful to be able to drag steps up and down. App response time was slow so the move up move down was cumbersome if you wanted to moved something more than one place. In addition, it would be really great to be able to pin rides to a certain order regardless of FastPass return time. For example, it may be optimal to go on Space Mountain first but my kids had never ridden a roller coaster before so we didn’t want to start there. If we could have pinned Peter Pan or something then optimized it could have made it much easier to plan based on our particular needs, not just reducing wait time. All this said, would totally use again on our next visit. We used the book as well and it made our trip a million times better than it would have been otherwise.

Good but not quite there

Very helpful for our first day but missing a couple key features that made it difficult to use our second day:(1) DL and DCA use separate plans. If you have a park hopper ticket and don’t mind walking back and forth, the app doesn’t seem to know how to optimize your day.(2) There doesn’t appear to be a way to constrain ride times. For example we wanted to do Grizzly River Run later in the day with a Fast Pass when it was warmer but the Optimize step would always put it early in the morning. This had a ripple effect that led to us to largely ignore the plan. Also, since we always want to do more than we have time and energy for, it would be helpful to be able to tag each item with a level of importance to us.Also, the Optimize step was too risky. We nearly missed the end of the 15 minute Fast Pass grace period multiple times because of unexpected delays. It would be helpful to tell it how much risk we are willing to take. Finally, the app is too slow. Many times we refrained from using it because of the sluggishness. This was especially the case for non essential functions like logging wait time. This may help explain why its wait times were often so far off: Almost nobody is contributing wait times because it’s so sluggish.

Worst app ever

This app is horrible. It was never even close to being right on any wait times. The app would say the wait time was 15 minutes but the wait would really be 45 minutes. Our trip was from 2-4 August and during that time it never once was correct. It couldn't even correctly tell you if a ride was closed. I tried using the plan function for a 2 day with small child choice, but it continually had me Trying to do rides that were way over any small child's height requirement. I found that the free apps were way more accurate and helpful. I spent 1.99 for the week membership and I should have just given that money to a homeless person hanging out around the park. At least then someone would have got something useful out of my money.

Was great but chat is ruining it

I have used this app for years and found it really helpful, especially the chat. Unfortunately while the wait times are still great to have, the chat has become a tremendous waste of time. It used to be that you could see all kinds of great up to date info from experts. I really was helpful for planning that rare vacation. But a very small group of “liners” have completely taken it over. You have to read their personal thoughts on things like homelessness (people “want” to be homeless), immigration (anyone without insurance must be an “illegal alien”), and such mundane things as how someone feels about stubbing their toe. I wish I was making these up. What any of this has to do with disneyland is beyond me. The chat moderator seems to think that this is fun for us to read and we can “chose” what to read, but you can’t find any good information without sorting through the personal stuff people post online. Use the online version and print your itinerary, or get the app for the wait times. But save your precious time and stay away from the chat, we take disney vacations to get away from this sort of thing. Look for up-to-date info from other sources that are true travel sites with useful information.I used to recommend this to all my friends, but was embarrassed after the last person asked why I thought this would be useful. So sad to see something so good fall so far because some people they can’t find another venue for their social needs.

Great Help, Even for Experienced Parkgoers

I've been to Disneyland many times, and after finally using this app on our trip last week I vowed never to go to the parks without it. We kept close track of how well Lines predicted the wait times, and my family was astonished at how many were accurate down to the minute. While there were certainly a few times that the app underestimated how long we waited, it was never more than ten or fifteen minutes off (and when you're at Disneyland, that is not a bad track record). The crowd estimates seemed accurate and sure made me feel good about what we got accomplished in one day. My Disneyland/DCA visit was much less stressful thanks to this app; having wait times I could count on helped me focus less on the lines and more on the magic.

Great planning app for any DL vacation

I love this app. I have used it several times (as well as the WDW Lines app). It helps to get the most out of a day in the parks. The restaurant suggestions never disappoint. Due to so many ongoing upgrades (Cars Land, soon-to-be Star Wars Land) in the park, I'm sure it is difficult to keep up with the dynamic changes. But this app does a great job as a guide. It is important to go to the website as well to read all of the tips. I've used this app so much, I am able to customize a daily routine and change it on the fly when unforeseen events happen (larger crowds, broken-down rides). Great app to use as a guide.

Excellent Cure For Post Vacation Blues

This app is great for while you're IN the park, but it's even better for when you're NOT in the park. Let me explain. The chat room, close in feel to "lounges" of other unofficial Disneyland apps, is ripe with quality content conversation. Whether you're planning for your trip, wondering which walking shoes are recommended by DL veterans, or just want to experience more DL discussion to soothe your post vacation blues hangover, it's a great place to check and participate in. As for the service it provides while you're in the park, superior to other apps in that it offers advice along with the wait times. A veteran may see that Indiana Jones is 35 minutes and realize that's a jackpot opportunity to go into stand-by if you don't have a fast pass, but noobs and even anxious vets will appreciate the advice that comes with it in their "go now" or "go anytime, wait time won't change" FYIs. I also highly recommend the companion book, The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland, as it's the most entertaining literature on the park I've found in my seven years as an annual passholder. Thorough information on the parks and everything in it, comedic albeit dry commentary. 5/5 stars.

Great data, awful UI makes me not want to use it

Clearly the data is impressive— lines are almost always closer to what TP app says than the official Disneyland app. The features, like cloning suggested plans and modifying them to your heart’s content, then getting updates on wait times accordingly, are powerful. But the UI is terrible. Unhelpful errors (“Error 01!” What does that mean?) I got an hour ago persist at the top of the screen. Difficult to navigate, aesthetic looks about 10 years old. Seems like they really don’t care about user experience. Find myself jumping back to the official app because it’s just easier (and Disney’s apps are no panacea either.)Hope the devs improve the UI to match the top quality data.

Because we’re independent travel writers, we can tell you what Disney can’t, from actual waits in line, to which park will be less crowded every day of your trip. LINES features include: -Both Disney’s currently posted wait time at every attraction and how long you’ll REALLY wait in line, based on our experience and that of thousands of families on the same ride. -New “Ride Now” and “Wait to Ride” recommendations to show whether waits are going up or down at your favorite rides. -Customized step-by-step touring plans for both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

You tell LINES which rides you want to see, and LINES will create a step-by-step itinerary showing when to go to each ride to avoid long lines. You can even change your plans while you’re in the park! -A Crowd Calendar showing you how busy each park will be over the next ten days. -Disney’s official app doesn’t show you the waits for many attractions or character greetings. This is incredibly useful if you’re trying to plan your afternoon and evening, if you want to know whether FASTPASS is available at Splash Mountain after your nap, or if trying to decide which park to go to after dinner. -Ask questions and get fast answers from our online community of 120,000 Disney experts. -Menus and prices for every restaurant, kiosk, food stand, and cart in all of Disneyland Resort – more than 6,000 things to eat!
