Too Fast & No Enunciation

The app is promising; however, I wish there was a way to slow down the speech. It is said so fast it is not adequate for modeling or usage to young nonverbal children.

Most flexible system for situations

CoughDrop has allowed my students and clients to have a voice, in very unique ways. It’s incredibly flexible allowing us to support a variety of needs and support them wherever they are, and collect data that we can’t with other systems!

Not intuitive

For some reason, when I click the “other” button in Core 112, it goes to reptiles, which is just very confusing. I think I might prefer Proloquo2go.

Not user friendly

This works if you don’t make changes to it. Half of the time the changes I make on either the computer or iPad do not stay changed. With it only doing a few features it should be a lot easier to navigate. I don’t want to trouble shoot it or watch hours of videos to figure out why it isn’t working. Surely there’s got to be something better. Keep looking unless you have a therapist that’s well versed in making changes I wouldn’t bother with this.

Great for using across devices

I used this with my 5 year old who is nonverbal on an iPad mini 4. Overall, it is nice to have across devices should she need a back up. It’s also great for modeling and having her team at school and I sync up easily. It’s pretty user friendly and their customer support is amazing. The app itself sometimes freezes or lags way behind which causes frustration.

Great communication app!

The model of having a free communication app with subscriptions for a user rather than per device is the best! I am an elementary special education teacher for students with autism. I have been using this app with my classroom this year with 7 students who have limited or no verbal communication. I am thrilled with having this tool to use and love how easily I can make updates for my students on my device (computer, phone, or iPad) and it updates on their device. My favorite part is that all of our support staff and myself can have the app on our own devices so we can model, practice, and find words without needing to take the device from the student. The developers have been very helpful when I need help. I have been recommending it to all of our staff!

The Guru AAC App!

From Speech and Language Therapy Cafe:I have successfully utilized this app for an entire year with various students in the public schools and now in telepractice. I have ample AAC/AT SLP experience and can give testimony and highly recommend this app as the best AAC app for communication in the market! Through telepractice ST services, I work with students across state lines and this app allows me the ability to create and synchronize boards from the comfort of my home to students in other states. This past year after collecting data in the reports sent by the app, two of the districts I contracted with purchased life-time apps for three students on trial. So what makes it a Guru AAC App? It is cloud based, user friendly, one can use the picture library within the app, or use your own cam pictures or web pictures, not to mention the great 1:1 communication from its developers any time I have reached out to them. I have recommended this app to every SLP I work with in the public schools, in telepractice, and in the medical field.

We love this AAC app!

My son has been using this app for 3 years now and it has been fantastic! Being able to cloud it to any device means be is never without his voice! Customer support has always been amazing and goes above and beyond! We are so thankful for this app as it has given our son a way to communicate with us and express himself! ❤️

Easy to use, not so easy to edit

I love this app. It has given me a consistent system for communication. It is easy to use, unfortunately editing is more challenging than other apps. I don’t have to use too many types of communication, I can use one.

Love this app

We needed an AAC program that would work on the kindle fire. We love coughdrop and use it on iPhone, android phone, and kindle fire. This program provides a free two month trial but we upgraded early to get access to child voices 🥰

Description

CoughDrop is a simple, modern AAC communication and support tool that empowers individuals and the teams around them. It is a full-featured communication app built for individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Rett syndrome, or other complex communication needs. CoughDrop is flexible and configurable enough to accommodate the access and comprehension needs of many communicators.

CoughDrop users can install this app to access CoughDrop's communication and reporting features on their mobile device. The app includes starter boards for different levels of communication, and boards with large or small buttons can be personalized using the rich symbol set, user-provided images or camera photos, user-recorded audio, speech synthesis, etc. CoughDrop runs on multiple devices, so you can log in on your tablet, phone and computer and have access to the same communication tools and interface. In addition, users can be linked so parents, therapists and supervisors can access a communicator's boards from their own devices to better facilitate modeling, and to make it easier to modify boards without taking away the communicator's device. The built-in reporting and messaging tools also help the support team have a consistent strategy and know what's working across locations and times.
