Trash!

So apparently there are over 300 alerts in my area. Can’t read any of them. Not one. I signed up thinking I could get notifications on the boil water notice that’s currently happening in my county. Nope, not happening! And yes, a rep from the county’s watershed department said I could get them through the app. Went through the whole sign up process for nothing! If the developer isn’t going to take the time to keep the app up and running properly, then just take it down. And the developer has the nerve to charge for weather updates! Seriously?! I doubt any updates would come through even if I did choose to pay for it. 🙄

Could be a great notification system but needs work

I downloaded this app after it was recommended by my county. I travel all around the country and thought it would be a good tool for me because often I am in places that I am not familiar with. The alerts seem to come through late in the map overlays especially the radar is so jumpy it doesn’t match up with what other radar apps are showing. I like the concept and I hope that the creators will do work to make this a better app. It seems like a great idea but as of right now this version is not working for me.

Very unreliable

Our county moved to this program a few years ago. This system works well, when it works which is extremely rarely. I have discovered that I have to remove the app and reinstall it once or twice a week for it to work properly. I was told I needed to choose not to delete old alerts during emergencies, so now I have 100’s of alerts that are old and no new alerts, which there should be. This app and system is extremely unreliable and a waste of time. I strongly discourage any emergency service to switch to this or anyone in the public to rely on it to consistently notify you in case of an emergency.

Rudimentary Design, No Support

My city & county use CodeRED to communicate information and when the recent Marshall Fire threatened my community I promptly signed up on the website. I then discovered this app, downloaded it and tried to sign in. However, the login I created on the website didn’t work. I tried a password reset, which didn’t work, then contacted their support. A week later I still haven’t received a response.I have received an alert on my phone so that part works. However, you can’t immediately see what the alert is and are prompted to open the app and login. You can continue to the app without logging in and as long as you are using location services you can see the alerts in your area so at least you can use it.The app design is very rudimentary. Compare it to any other app that uses a map to convey information close to your location, such as travel booking apps, and it is crude. It is not easy to use and communicates only the essential information. Overall the app does work but there is clearly a disconnect between their online system and the app. Not being able to login is irritating but not getting a response from customer service is unforgivable, especially considering this is an emergency alert app.

Settings don’t work

Ok I would feel more confident in the app if settings worked correctly. I selected the Yelper alert sound and I received an alert using the “grating” Bell sound for a flash flood alert. I checked & it was still on Yelper the whole time. Now this sounds like a minor complaint but we just had a 16.5 billion disaster here and it would be good to be able to select a sound that allows you to remain calm and doesn’t get your heart racing & blood pressure up again=-0 Just my 2 cents. PS... a warning is definitely better than no warning so please just make sure the app settings work, Thanks

Great app and it’s FREE!

The review I just read here with two stars is complaining that this app has a fee and I don’t see it. She says you can scour the Internet and find all your state and city stuff for free. By all means go ahead and take your time to do that, and if they wanted to charge you because they did it for you, there’s nothing wrong with that. You go into a grocery store and complain because the milk isn’t free? After all, cows produce milk without even trying don’t they? Can’t I go milk my own cow? Give me a break, and give these people a break. They’re not doing anything wrong. I appreciate the fact that I don’t have to scour the Internet to find the information.

So Wrong!

The premise of this app is great but how the developers have chosen to implement it is SO WRONG! How anyone can put a price tag on saving lives is morally outrageous! What this developer is charging you for is usually given free of charge via text message or automated phone call from most all local, state, city, and county governments. The app actually works which is why I rated it 2 stars instead of the 0 it deserves. The app will notify free users what they deem free emergency, general, and missing person notifications. Yet they want to charge you to get an alert that a tornado 🌪 is at your doorstep or a wall of water is getting ready to wash your home away. This is sickening to me and the developers should be highly ashamed of themselves! In my opinion; search your states, city, or counties website to find free ways to signup and receive life saving notifications for emergency events. By paying this developers price tag per life you are supporting this behavior!

The City, County & State Should Notify You That You Are Being Charged

I downloaded this app and while it was downloading I read some of the comments. When I signed up for this app, I was not told that I would have to pay a fee to use it. While $0.99 per year isn’t that much, the Entity should let you know that you are going to be charged to use this app. If that was done, then I might not have deleted it as soon as it downloaded. I know some cities pay the $0.99 so that you are better protected. Wonder why they all don’t do it??? It’s all about the money, not your life, and that is a real shame!!!!

SCAM/HACK4Ur$/Waste of$/time; avoid!!

So I downloaded and PAID for the CodeRed app my county recommended and linked on it’s site. It’s a TOTAL waste of money. It doesn’t allow access to the acct I have created through the county which is their THIS program but online. I had to create/register a NEW account just to find out the two are incompatible. It ALSO has no way to access the 57 alerts it has listed nor the message option on the program to read updates. WHAT A WASTE!!It is the most useless app I’ve ever downloaded AND I paid for it!!!I’m very disappointed with the app and even more disgusted that it was recommended for public use when it’s not even compatible with the account I registered with the online version of this app. I want my wasted money back from this download. I don’t know what to do and am so enraged that I spent money on something that does nothing AND required I Pay annually to have more of NOTHING!!This program is incompatible, incompetent, useless, costly, time wasting, space/memory wasting, a hack to take your funds, disappointing, enraging, nothing like what it claims, lacking in features/operation, A SCAM!!!Wish I could give it NO STARS!!! I’ll delete this and stop leaving negative reviews as soon as I get back my funds wasted here!!!

Mixed Bag

As far as I can tell, most of the features of this app are great and the performance seems satisfactory in most areas. It’s not perfect, however. The satellite and RADAR map overlays do not happen, only the street map. I find this totally unacceptable and cannot believe that something like that could be missed in testing. One nice thing about the street map’ though, is that if you go into your account on a computer, you can actually correct where your location is pinpointed. My logging in experience was confusing. First everything was fine, then my credentials were rejected. It turns out that there are two login addresses, apparently for two different parts of the outfit, which is not made clear, is counterintuitive, and, in my opinion, is rather stupid. Getting everything set-up and verified took some persistence, but I managed to do it without turning to Support.About them: I used the provided link in the app settings to tell them about the map problems. My message never reached them, because the server rejected their address. Sounds a bit shady. So, this community alert network that the emergency services of the county that I live in wanted me to sign up with, because we are being surrounded by wildfires, and which, supposedly, millions of people are relying on, doesn’t make sure their app works, doesn’t make it easy to sign up, and may not be on the up-and-up. You’d think they’re in office.
