Let’s turn our attention to the election
Folk’s, Trumpateers are gloating at Portland’s continued protesting right now. It plays right into their agenda to convince others that the lawless need a firm hand. Protesting is our right, but, right now we should be addressing a progressive agenda including the most important, voting Trump out of office. This includes replacing the retiring Walden with an enlightened D. Frustrated 87 year old Korean veteran. BGCrescent?ake
Needs lots of work
I find the new app hard to use. * The ads pop up, and disorients me when they appear. They should be preloaded. * There something with the swiping that makes me loose my spot. I end up going back and forth and then land on a favorite topic page. If there is horizontal scrolling on the page, make it more obvious. When I swipe the little blue dots, it takes me to a new page, not the horizontal scroll. I have to know to swipe below that indicator. Fix that peice, and it will help. * Video and Images lost their preview pics, and are just gray boxes. My home connection is fantastic, so it’s not a weak connection. Pull to refresh did not work. * Dud I mention the Pop-in ads? This is a bigger for me, so mentioning it twice. I hate apps that load ads while I am viewing something, and then move my screen. I understand ads are essential for making money, but there is a better way.
Not Happy About Your Chsnged Web Page
Your previous website made it so easy to find the news stories. Then maybe a year ago or more you changed the format. Now your news stories are difficult to find all in one section. And you keep old news stories up on the site forever! I look at CNN, Washington Post, Guardian, New York Times, OPB,etc., online and none of them have the visually chaotic format you do. I often will now view OPB just to get a straightforward view of the news. I was a marketing executive for a number of years in Silicon Valley and managed a creative team including the webmasters and so I have some background in working to create a visually effective website for the public. Your site is not working well for us readers.
No good. Unnecessary update. Just bring back the old app.
This app is hard to use...what was wrong with the old app with tiles and pictures of the top headlines? Now we get one headline and tiny text showing (at times) week old headlines. I read the “headline story” talking about how to use and customize the new app...so now I have a page full of tiles I have to browse to that contain duplicate information. First clue that you’ve developed a bad app: you have to publish a news story about how to use it Oh and not to mention every time you open the app you get an unnecessary (albeit pretty) splash screen that takes 5 or 10 seconds to get out of the way. Just open already!!!What do we want? Quick and easy! What did we get? Slow and complicated. I’ll be reading my news elsewhere.
Something to take note.
I’ve had this app off and on for a LONG time.. my biggest suggestion .. we need news faster and more at our fingertips ... if we had time to watch your commercial or commercials at all why would we chose an app to catch up.. cut all people off from ads and give us locals the “real news” we LOVE I REFUSE ABSOLUTELY ... REFUSE to watch anyone else’s news broadcast or even subscribe let’s check my social media nothing KGW is my local hometown news! You guys are rock stars let’s keep shining also let’s talk more POSITIVE where are the news journalist Whatever happened to finding a really really good story. Find support groups for people of all situations have them hammered with a banner at the bottom of you’re news cast and make sure to bring it to the light it’s the season of loneliness and the true feeling of no love... suicides are at a higher rate due to the holidays! Help us !!! We need someone like you A BIG BIG LOCAL PLATFORM you guys change people’s life’s and point of view bring us up! Be our vitamin DXo- Mathanial Hollowell
Incessant ads must go!!!
Update: Thank you for doing away with the ads for a short period of time but then you brought them back! 😩 A lot more people would use the app if you didn’t force us to watch 15-30 seconds of ads before we can view a news clip with volume! Super disappointed that wasn’t a permanent change! Although the news about the coronavirus is less urgent now, I want to follow news about George Floyd’s murder and the movement it has sparked that demands prompt and permanent change in how people of color are treated. Please find another way to show ads rather than showing teaser news clips on mute that make you view an ad to have volume!!!!***********I love the notifications of breaking news but the same repetitive OHSU Health ad that you are forcing people to watch over and over for 15-30 seconds before we are allowed to view a 1-2 minute news snippet is ridiculous! And if we want to watch more than one news snippet, we have to watch the same annoying ad over and over. I get that advertising pays your bills but in light of the global pandemic & the public need for TIMELY updates on the health crisis that directly impact all of us, I would argue that a reduction in mandatory viewing of ads is very much overdue.

This app is as good as the old one except I do not like the difference in the weather radar. I haven’t figured it out yet where the old one you could go all over the northwest I have not figured out how to even see castle rock wash. Yet where is the instructions? Or are we just suppose to know how this app works? Enjoy your morning show watch it everyday, yes at 4:30am I’m a natural early bird
Adds are repeated over and over
This version of the app is terrible. KGW has finally changed their website back to a readable interface. Can’t stand the repeating content. Trying to find weather info is hard. Keep it simple. I don’t mind the ads if they don’t repeat. And don’t need all the graphics either. I want news I can read.
News Reporters
KGW news reporters are my favor cast of news reporting characters in the Pacific Northwest. Five star reporting all the way around. Local news spot on. Interesting, informative, and entertaining. Enjoy special spotlights on local entertainment, and events. Great application for KGW weather, especially Matt’s add information regarding, the celestial sky, and environmental issues. Couldn’t wake up to a better group of lively, happy, well informed morning new people. Great way to start my day. Thanks, KGW News for five star new reporting and reporters. Commercials are rediculous
I was very excited to download the new app, but now that I am using it, I’m going to delete it. I don’t mind commercials, I know they pay for the app. I’ll watch them, but it is ridiculous that every time you click on a new story/video another 15 second commercial comes up. Then On top of that if you are watching the live segment you also get the commercials that are on the actual tv. I can see one or two commercials, but this is too much and not worth the app. Sorry KGW, your old app was much better.
