I love it

If you like Cites Skylines, Sim City, RCT, Caesar, etc. you will absolutely enjoy this game. The maps can get really big, which I love, but we don’t have a mini map so it can be hard to navigate at times. I’d also like to have some sort of indication when something is wrong. For example, I was messing around upgrading a bunch of stuff in one area then I swipe around and there’s like and entire section of abandoned houses because I didn’t put in enough water.Don’t get t me wrong, I can see why you wouldn’t have notifications for that, but if there were like red dots on a mini map that would be helpful I think. Idk maybe that’s too much assistance for the player because it is very fun as is, but I’ve definitely looked for a mini map in the settings a couple of times.

This game has a lot to offer, but…

I love this game, honestly, but but it has a few frustrating bugs and slight annoyances that brings my rating down to 4 stars.Starting with the pros, this game is just really fun, especially if you like this genre. It is decently detailed and has plenty if maps and hours of gameplay. You can do whatever you want. Because this game is part of Apple Arcade, there are no ads. Although, it does have its own currency and something called a “City Pass” but it isn’t in your face unlike games like Subway Surfers, if you know what I mean. Now onto the cons, it has a couple of bugs. One of the bugs I came across is when you place down a building it sometimes pretends the building isn’t there, making it have no effect. I also have some nit-picky cons about this game, including how the game restarts if you leave our phone off for long enough and the unrealistic pipelines and electricity. If also Is quite the battery eater, as on my phone, it takes up about 15-20 percent of the battery every 45-60 minutes. I haven’t tested the game on low settings though, but I imagine it would be a bit lower.Overall, I think this is a good game, but it has room for improvement. The expansiveness is almost overwhelming, but some small inconveniences lead me to the rating of 4 stars. I hope this game improves over time to be one of the best city builders on the App Store.

Great

I adore this game. It’s a great game to pass time or a game you can play for a solid amount of time.I will say, however, that the building merge system is a bit confusing. I may have accidentally skipped past the part that explains it, though. It would be great if we could quick-build on merged zones. For instance, say I use a building as fuel for another building’s merge. When I go back to the city, there is a spot where the (fuel) building used to be. It’d be awesome if we could just tap that zone and have it rebuild the building that was there. It can be a tad annoying to have to play around with building placement constantly. I think implementing an auto-build feature would make it a lot smoother. Especially for buildings that sit in weird sections like tight corners or odd shaped roads. Just my two cents! As a developer myself, I can understand the hard work that went into this lovely game.

I truly did enjoy this game, BUT one thing…

Overall, having no in app purchases/being swamped in ads and making it impossible to do one single step before having to watch 10 ads, it’s been a little buggy. I ended up deleting the game over the bugs because it made it frustrating and caused me to lose the challenges given. It would list certain challenges and I would do them right away plus a little extra to spiff each challenge up and it wouldn’t count towards any of the goals/challenges…. I would also improve the electrical system as far as reach and power consumption and it would still say that they had no power and such. Idk. Over all it was a good game and one that was entertaining up until the bugs began lol. If these were corrected, I believe it would be one of the best.

LOVE this game, but…

I love this game, and the fact it’s on Apple Arcade with no in-game purchases is amazing! Graphics are smooth, and not to mention, the cities are beautiful and look so life-like! I did want to report there’s a bug going around. Any time there’s a goal on the left hand side of the screen (say, it says to build 15 buildings). I build those buildings, and the count never goes on, making me lose the goal. Or, it says to increase education or reduce pollution. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to play until these issues are fixed. I earn money to build more buildings and take care of my city by doing those goals. I really hope they can be fixed SOON so I can get back to the game! Thanks so much! Giving you 5 stars because bugs happen to every game (not your fault). I know you guys care and are working hard to make things better!

Has potential but…

As a long time game developer (and city simulation enthusiast) I love seeing new games. That said, this one seems to suffer from a number of issues and puzzling design decisions:- can’t skip tutorial- can’t skip cinematics- confusing UI- if you back out, close app, or crash during tutorial it won’t save the progress and will make you start over - OK looks like $0K so when you have OK next to an amount (Eg 4K) becomes confusing - stuttering even on an iPhone 12 Pro Max- some things difficult to see when it’s nighttime - huge memory hog- not sure why there is a tutorial when the game starts giving you tutorials with your advisor and as you unlock things - also all the ‘tutorial’ really did was show me I could make a cool looking city but didn’t introduce me to anything but a house or industrial building even though there is quite a bit more- multiple notifications may go off while your advisor is giving you a call to action which may not be intuitive - and you can’t click any other notification until you figure out the call to action - things you should be able to click on you can’t (Eg the population level, have to click on what level you are)- seems like graphics have decent detail but can’t zoom in enough to really seeOverall has potential but this seems more like an alpha than an actual game

No Offline Mode is a missed opportunity

I have to say this is probably the most fun throwback to Sim City I have ever played. It is bright, keeps you interacting, let’s you establish yourself before resources and things become a balancing act. Easy fund earning. A fair and enjoyable way to earn the special currency to unlock landmarks and buy extra special buildings every day. Literally only complaint I have is there is no offline mode. Which is not mentioned in the game info afaik ahead of time. I got to find out when I had a long waiting room visit lol. This is a huge disappointment. I really hope they come out with an offline mode so I am not limited by connectivity. Being in the middle of playing on a public wifi connection while enjoying a morning coffee, and having the game suddenly kick you into a never ending load screen is frustrating.

Glitchy

This game started out really fun. Unfortunately, it is so glitchy and illogical. For instance, you’ll have sick people… nevermind they live right next door to a doctor’s office with space, so you upgrade the doctor’s office just in case… won’t work… the place will still shut down. The seems like there is an intention to have a balance between the shopping, residents and jobs, but it is so illogical. I expect it has something to do with the buildings leveling up, but you have zero control over that so balancing them is impossible for more than five minutes. No matter what you do, your city is going to get shut down. My biggest pet peeve is not the game play, but another bug. I play this game and all games with the sound off. For some reason as my city begins its inevitable shut down the sound kicks on and after EVERY SINGLE action the people BOO! Not only is it annoying, but demoralizing as well. Booing? Really?!? I’m done with this game.

Fun, but Very Buggy

The core gameplay of Cityscapes is excellent, and I really love the progression system: you steadily unlock new buildings, larger buildings, and more systems to manage as your city grows. It’s really satisfying to see your small town grow into a city with a whole new set of needs to manage. My biggest complaint, though, is that the game is extremely buggy. It crashes or freezes up frequently, sometimes specific elements of the UI will stop working until the game is restarted (ex: buildings will no longer allow you to move their placement location), and at one point fairly far into the game the app crashed and all my save data was lost, forcing me to start again from the tutorial. I don’t seem to have any issues like this with other apps or games. Aside from some small UI complaints (I REALLY wish you could zoom out further), the bugs are by far my biggest complaint about an otherwise very good game.

Love this game it does have two things I want fixed

I love this game I play every day it’s amazing okay first thing is it kicks me out I play on iPad and after a certain time it crashes and kicks me out and I have to start over and lose builds I just bought using the v coins. Second thing is I have more then enough room but the dotted lines to place more buildings but they don’t let you I guess because it to to close personal I feel like the dotted lines around the map limits the game it should have at least one map that has unlimited space to make the city big because after some time you want to start moving things around but you can’t because there is no space to place an item you would have to trash it to make room which is another thing you should put an option if you want to move things to have a storage in the edit mode ?? Overall, I love the game
