Excellent board

I've played chess for fifty years. Not very well I'm afraid. I've played classic boards, automated boards and app boards. App boards are by far my favorite. So convenient and versatile! This app is my favorite. First, I like the way it "plays". I'm actually slowly becoming a better player! For me the board is intuitive to use and helpful. The many boards and pieces to choose from is a nice touch. I also sometimes save games to play later. The menu bars cover everything I ever want to do and the fonts are very nicely done.The best chess board I have ever owned! Period.

Never too old to learn!

This is the best app on chess I have ever seen! When I was a teenager I was pretty good at the game, but after I graduated from High School I did not play that much. When I started working in the private sector I did not play at all. Now, after 30yrs, I am now retired and am now able to get back to playing the ULTIMATE game of strategy. I highly recommend this app.

good game. first review got deleted somehow

…interesting …great game, but data is definitely sent to both googlesyndication and fakebook’s app-measurents regardless of settings opted by user. (1) great play, (2) the landscape mode could be improved by correcting stretched graphics, (3) no method to clear either history nor play data without deleting app, (4) even if adverts are turned off by paying 50cent/mo app continues to trigger data sends every 5-10second to googlesyndicate and fakebook user trackers. *** apologies to developer, i had a better review yesterday, but perhaps mention of scroogle and fakebook apis, review was removed?? who knows… regardless, this is a great chess game and tool for improving chess skills… love it!!! it’s appreciated. if ever your able, it’d be great to see all developers focus more on privacy and data ethics by eliminating all user tracking. thanks

Excellent learning tool for beginners and beyond.

At age 89, I have decided to learn to play chess for the first time I’m my life.I have never had any interest in other board games including card games.While I have mild cognitive decline due to age I was looking for a strong mild stimulant to offset and avoid Alzheimer’s which my younger brother has and does no longer recognize me.This app allows me to play by myself with hints as to my best moves, which then allows me to better understand chess tactics and strategies.I find myself over the last ten days playing constantly on my iPad.Better than reading the Wall Street Journal or watching NetflixBoth of which I have cancelled substituting the great courses plus which has hundreds of subjects that interest me.I reward myself after an hour of chess with this app by going to GreatCourses plus and enjoying a course or courses on musiccollegy Great fun and a great app for someone like myself who enjoys studying a difficult subject.I do have a friend who first interested me in chess and I look forward to the collegiality of a game that also meets my desire for togetherness.l

Misleading

This is advertised as a free app with lots of amenities, but that’s not the case. This app allows you to play a simple game of chess against an AI, and has a “Grand Master” teaching mode that shows a few move possibilities, but they seem to be random and are NOT the best available moves as claimed. And that is all. The app has none of the other things advertised unless you buy the pro version.If you’re selling an app, great. At least be honest about it. If I feel like your trying to con me, then why would I give you money? This app is the Liberty Mutual commercial of the app world!

Long irritating ads

I had an earlier version of this Ap that had banner ads. I saw and read them all and occasionally clicked on one. I got a new iPhone and with it a new version of the Ap. Now ads shut the game down, occupy several screens in succession, and you have to endure to the point of irritation. In addition many of the ads are for simplified games that are of little challenge. I understand the need for ads, but the developers need to understand when too much harms rather promotes a product.

Thank you for reducing considerably the new lead in ads before the game. Great improvement. I have always liked this chess app the most. Coach is great, in addition to the higher levels. You will easily become addicted. Thank you for taking out the ads.

Great game to learn with

I’m learning and this version of chess is great. Lots of hints and the ability to take back bad moves. It also works offline which I like. I see you can make it harder too. Not sure when I’ll need that, but experienced players may like that feature.

Ok for Chess

They could do better with the options and settings with where they are because it's sort of all in your face but it's a good app for playing chess however I've seen others that I liked better too. I personally like the board and pieces then the other stuff should be on a different page but I don't design the app. It's a great app for someone who is learning to play and people competing and stuff but if I want to play my buddy down the road there's an app we used to use that's it pados compatible anymore & it's the one I miss and it was simple the board & the chess pieces and that was the app I really like.

This is an excellent game which has approved my success when playing others. In this game when I am backed into a corner and face certain defeat I will rely on the “hints” and by following their logic I have upped my game a lot. Outstanding features and options in playing chess. If I got a spare moment I am playing it. Highly recommended.
