Could use more codecs, otherwise fantastic

Also could use separate wheels for framerate and bitrate (for codecs that offer more than one).

Great Tool

With the availability of digital cinema cameras, a tool like this is indispensable. It works as advertised and presents a simple yet elegant graphic user interface. My only wish is that in they offer Compressed CinemaDNG (raw) for the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC) as one of the selectable codecs. The BMPCC is rapidly becoming a go to camera for indie filmmakers and it has a vibrant community pushing quality work on it. Great app!

Nice but...

Very nice, but it would be nice to also add support for Apple Intermediate Codec, Cineform, and AVID's DNxHD intermediate codecs. These are also very popular interemdiate codecs, in the Mac platform too. Adding support for Lagarith (a Windows intermediate codec), would be a nice bonus too.

V3 Ruins a Once-Useful App

Updated to v3, and was disappointed to find what feels like a v1 beta. UI is stripped to nothing, number fields pull up the full keyboard, slow to launch, typos in the codec selections, and still no Canon XF-AVC listings. I use the app literally every day and it's supposed to be quick and easy--now I want to find another solution.

Great datacalc app!!!

I really love this app. For anyone in the tech side of the content ecosystem, this is an ideal app in figuring out file size and runtime when dealing with various codecs, formats, file size selections, etc.If only it had a bitrate option to calculate also, that would make it a 5-star!!!

Cannot install on 1G iPod Touch

Not sure why a mic is necessary, but that's the error I get when I try to load this onto my 1G iPod Touch. "This app is incompatible with this iPod Touch: This app requires a microphone."

Exactly as promised

People this app Is exactly as promised. It is specifically for the ki pro. The data rates for other cameras and data rates for other systems should have their own app half this nice!! Great app for shooters who use KiPro on set!

Love It!

You can't go wrong with free but I love it, I use a few times a week! I love that I can email myself or others the results. I wish I could select other settings like iPod/ h.264 but it is great.

Description

AJA DataCalc computes storage requirements for professional video and audio media. Designed for video professionals, this application works with all the most popular industry video formats and compression methods, including AJA Raw, Apple ProRes, DVCProHD, HDV, XDCAM, DV, CineForm, REDCODE, Avid DNxHD, Avid DNxHR, Apple Intermediate, 16 bit RGB and RGBA, uncompressed, and more. Video standards supported include NTSC, PAL, 1080i, 1080p, 720p, 2K, 4K and 8K.

AJA DataCalc allows you to change settings and calculate storage requirements in a single screen with simple controls and a clear concise display. Media durations can be entered in units of days, hours, seconds, or even as precise as frames using time code mode. Clicking on results will rotate you through alternative values including KB, MB, GB or TB for storage calculations or time results in a variety of formats when in TimeCalc mode. Summary information obtained by DataCalc can even be optionally shared via email or other iOS and iPadOS share services, and a Favorites feature allows you to save common calculations for speedy reference.
