Google Play commissions cut to 15% for developers following App Store

Google will reduce commissions it charges developers for selling in-app purchases from 30% to 15%.

The key points:

  • Google will apply the changes on July 1st;
  • The threshold is $1M (USD) in revenue each year. For earnings above the threshold a 30% commission will be applied;
  • Unlike Apple, the revenue earned by the developer in the previous year is of no importance for Google, as the commission cut applies to all developers fulfilling the aforementioned criteria.
