Wlingua is Absolutely Brilliant!

I definitely recommend the Wlingua app to learn SPANISH (or English, French, German, Italian, Russian). I agree that it truly TEACHES the user. There are options to focus on conversation, writing, readingI or all of the above. There is a proper CURRICULUM that integrates audio/visual learning. There is the ability to touch any word to hear the pronunciation and see translation notes - for varying regions when applicable! (No way …Yes way) Hyperlink from a word to original lesson notes for quick reference! (No way … YES way!) In addition to the ability to customize this app to match your learning style it has smart features to encourage your consistent engagement. For example, you can get an estimated course completion date based on your study schedule! I find that cool. In summary, this app is better than the Intro course Il took at Rice University (and I love RiceU). Affordable too, for such an efficient, well programmed app. Again, absolutely Brilliant! Thank you. 🙌🏾👏🏾 PS - Any chance we can expect Mandarin?

Best Spanish app for Me

So far, I've really enjoyed this app. It has a lot of material yet keeps the fun of learning intact.Pros: It has the option to learn Mexican Spanish (not many apps have this) which is what I'm interested in. The price is very reasonable for what you get. The audio of the Spanish speakers is very good. The coarse material is extensive and has a good mix of grammar, reading, and writing.Cons: There are typos occasionally that need to be fixed. It would be nice if there was an easy user feedback to help correct these. There are occasionally true/false questions that can't actually be answered with the information given. Similar to, "Joe is a teacher. Joe speaks Spanish." True or false: Joe is a Spanish teacher." I file these under "not enough info."All in all, the pros far out way the cons. It is one of the best Spanish learning apps I've come across and I use it very day.

Worth the small fee

I was looking for an app where I could revisit Spanish grammar and build my vocabulary but I don’t have time for a University class. I studied years ago and studied abroad, however, I could not practice for many years for personal reasons. This app (and, of course other forms of studying) have moved me back into an intermediate level where I actually have conversations with Spanish speakers. I love that it tested me to see where I should start. Babbel and Duolingo did not do this and it drove me crazy starting with Hola in Duolingo and poking around Babbel to see what exactly I should study while wasting time on skills I already had. I really hope that by the time I finish B1 the app creates a B2. It is such an addiction.

My new best friend

I sneak away to learn with this app constantly. Although I studied Spanish for several years at the university, and studied abroad in Ecuador, I lacked practice--and lost the ear for Spanish. Since I'm headed to Spain in two years I wanted an app that wouldn't just spout vocabulary in a drill and kill mentality, but would train my ear while expanding my grammar. I want to KNOW Spanish. I'm certainly nothing close to what I desire, but WLingua is helping me get there! I'm charmed by the varied exercises and their diverse approaches that tap into different learning styles. They're short enough to engage but long enough to drive home each new theme. Saying that, I do have a few suggestions. For one, the progress report tells me I've learned 0 vocabulary even though I do all the work. What vocabulary am I missing? What haven't I learned? It won't tell me or give any instructions on how to find out. Plus they lure you into the Premium mode without alerting you that you've entered the paid subscription phase. They prime you with several hours/days of "free" premium access based on your points. Smart approach, actually, but I wish they'd alerted me up front about the Premium migration. Nevertheless, I am enamored with this app, and plan on getting a year of paid learning. Certainly beats the price of other programs and university classrooms!

Lost

At first the app was wonderful. It would say a word, then they had you say the word in a speaker to make sure you said it correctly. Then all of the sudden there were words I had never heard before. Words I could not pronounce. The words were confusing. However, it is still a great app for beginners. Maybe because i got good grades on the first part, it sent me to a harder level. Also, you can not go back to the beginning till you finish lesson 4. It also does not tell you if you got something wrong. It just types the correct word without telling the correct word. Like I said. Great at the beginning, but lost in the middle. Good thing. It teaches you Mexican Spanish. I want to speak like I’m from Mexico. Not Spain.

Grammar lessons are great but too expensive

I used duolingo, busuu and a few others too. I like the approach of Wlingua because it TEACHES!!. All others trick you to believe you are learning as you’re playing games snd answering silly questions. Wlingua hands down does TEACH with grammar lessons. Take a notebook and pen and study snd you will INDEED learn. However it is missing many of the whistles and bells such as social networking, real pronunciation etc. No problem but given that it is too expensive I cannot see why I should continue Wlingua. The price they charge is not justified given that it lacks many features other apps have. Wlingua should be 50% less expensive like other apps. Otherwise I will buy a grammar book for 15$ and study it.

Quality learning PLUS explanations for adult learners.

Wlingua is by far the best Spanish app I have tried. I have gone through all the lessons on Doulingo and another more formal app, and tried many others. They all are either very formal and good at explaining the language but have limited content; Or have zero explanation of why words mean what they mean and you just have to figure it out by trial and error (Douligo and the like).Wlingua is the best of both worlds. It is fun and easy to follow AND it explains why things are the way they are. This is good for adult learners who are beginners. Wlingua uses simple common words and progresses them intuitively. When I understand something then I am more likely to remember it and can apply it to other situations which makes learning faster. This is the first app I will consider paying extra for once the free portion expires.

Excellent!

I am very happy I tried this course because they explain everything. So often in other courses you are supposed to just memorize and that doesn't work for me. I need to know why! I really love the lessons because of that. I am going further and I feel more confident speaking because I am using the correct verbs etc. I teach school and many of my students are Spanish speakers. It's been hard trying to communicate when I am not sure if I am saying the verbs and tenses correctly. I still have a long way to go, but so far I am very happy working my way through the lessons.

Great Spanish learning app !

After a few lessons of free version, I paid for the full version. I do one lesson a day. Every lesson gives a chance to review some previous learnt vocabulary. The grammar part is explained simply and clearly. The reading part reflects the grammar and words taught in the lesson. The exercises strengthen the memory again. My prior experience with Spanish is only through Rosetta Stone. This app is a great next stage learning tool for me.

Love it!

This app has made learning Spanish a lot of fun! It also isn't a memorization game, they really teach you rules and applications. I love the reading exercises! The only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 is because I have run into some words that are incorrect or statements that do not mean what is given for the translation. Other than that, the app is wonderful! And so convenient to be able to switch between my phone and tablet, so I can do exercises at home and reviews on the go.
