Description

Wasted Shots was created by golfers, golfers who wanted to find an analytic approach to fixing their broken golf games. We've tried the other apps and systems, but found that they were too complicated so we stopped using them. Even early on when we started using them, we couldn't deduce anything from the stats.

Sure, we could tell our fairway hit (actually miss) rate, and sure we used that to hit a ton of drivers on the practice range, but we didn't improve. So we set out to create our own simpler system, and that's when Wasted Shots was born. After years of research and hundreds of rounds, we came up with our system and it started to simplify our approach to playing and more importantly practicing. We broke the each hole into 4 components and started just tracking how many strokes we took in each part. Long Distance, Approach, Scrambling (which includes lag putts), and most importantly, Makeable Putts. We found that it all boiled down to the makeable putt and how far away we felt comfortable calling a putt makeable, like every time. At first, it was 2 feet, then 3. Eventually we were able to stretch our makeable putt range to 6 feet. After that, we found that our scrambling got better. After all, a lag putt or chip/pitch to a circle with a 6 foot radius is easier to pull off than one to a 2 foot radius. That made approach shots easier because there was less pressure to try to hit every green. We could play to the safe side of a pin and know we'd make par. That made the long distance shots easier because we could just make sure our drives were close enough to make an approach shot possible. We set goals for ourselves, not just overall for a round, but for each component of the 18 holes of the round. We then realized that when we failed at achieving one of the goals, it was easy to determine what to practice in the little time we had. Say we hit 22 makeable putts when we only wanted to hit 18. We'd have 4 practice drills just for makeable putts to try to enforce the good habits and confidence we'd need on the course. We used the same approach for scrambling, approach shots, and long distance shots. At first, we tracked all of this manually on scorecards and in spreadsheets, but thought it was time to create an app so we could share it with our family and friends, and now you. We hope you'll try Wasted Shots and that it'll help improve your philosophy on how to play and practice golf. Depending on how often you play and practice, Wasted Shots may be free to use. We give you up to 2 free credits to use toward a round or practice session, and the credits regenerate once per week. So if you are only able to play once per week, it's free. For the more hard core golfer, we offer the ability to buy credit packs or memberships that we're sure will cost you less than the amount of money you're wasting on golf balls (both new and on the range). - Privacy Policy (https://www.spencie.com/legal/privacy.html) - Terms of Use (https://www.spencie.com/legal/tsandcs.html)
