Great Customer Service

The one time I had an issue with the app, I wrote them an email with the problem I was having. Their team contacted me that same day and resolved my issue the following day. I was very impressed with their level of professionalism and wish others had the same customer service.

Inconsistent syncing problems

Overall, the app is very user friendly and functions fairly well. However, Walkingspree is connected to my employers health and wellness program and there have been times (sometimes 3-5 day long spans) where data will not sync. This may not seem very significant but we receive benefits based on our quarterly step averages and five 0 step days really impacts that average. I personally use Garmin Products to track activity and my steps will show on my Connect dashboard but will not sync to my Walkingspree (even retrospectively). I have put in several requests with no resolution which has been very disappointing.

Do not purchase a product

I purchased a product and then needed to return it so I emailed them and they said a refund would be issued once item was received. I sent it and they have never refunded me. I emailed several times and they said once that they’d check on it but never emailed back. I even wrote a letter and sent it in the mail to the one of the management teams and have still not heard back and no refund as yet. That was in March and it’s now May. Not happy at all with this aspect, the app is fine but not customer service and to me if you don’t satisfy that then I won’t use the app.

Good way to get a group together

Having used the app for almost a month with a workplace challenge, I found it quite easy to use with my Apple smartphone. I sometimes had to manually refresh/sync the app to get my steps to update, but it always matches my phone’s data. It was fun to see others from work and encourage one another. Had some problems with an overabundance of messages from some colleagues, but Walkingspree quickly fixed that. Thank you!

Email notifications

I enjoy getting my email notifications... and wondering if you might consider changing the layout.... many people, and I for one, glance at emails. In the Walkingspree emails there is valuable information for getting people moving, including families. Maybe put the participant’s name at the top with the great suggestions underneath their name and then the participant’ stats at the bottom... most people, I would guess, want to see their stats, but don’t even read the suggestions because they are clear at the bottom. The current layout of the email, with the suggestions at the bottom, may not encourage people to scroll to the bottom. Just a thought! I am a nurse and a health coach, and always thinking of ideas for encouraging people! Thanks for reading 😀

Security problems

The app is fine, we used it for a company challenge. My problem with it is that if you want to connect a Fitbit to it, it asks for a bunch of unnecessary permissions including access to your profile and health info. I contacted their tech support, and their answer was basically “don’t worry about it, we don’t use that info”. Completely unacceptable! Security matters and these guys are second rate developers.Update: 5 months later and nothing has been improved. Tech support is useless. Walkingspree: You are asking for an intrusive amount of information for connecting a Fitbit. Why? This is an employer sponsored thing and I should not be asked for that much info. Please improve it!

Walkingspree has been amazing!

My employer has used this for the last few years and has offered incentives if we met step goals. I guess it would be easier to work an extra two hours if I really wanted that quarterly $50, but I was so proud of earning my 10k average step bonus! Very sad that they will no longer be continuing the program. It was something that really made me feel valued as an employee. Hopefully I can keep walking spree and can average my steps to keep and maintain personal goals. If not, it was fun while it lasted. Some ideas for future... I would love to see an average sleep incentive! It’s common knowledge that good sleep hygiene makes for a healthier, happier and much safer workforce. Why not incentivize it?

Buggy App—use at your own risk

My employer uses this app for step challenges. I participated in my first step challenge in July. In the last week of the challenge, Walkingspree lost all my information. I contacted HR, HR contacted Walkingspree and it took them three days to do anything. I already wasn’t going to place in the challenge—I knew that. But this buggy app lost my information and wiped away any sense of accomplishment I might have had. So, going forward, I’ll use another app. I’ll walk for exercise but I will never allow this lousy app to ruin my progress. Since my employer is using Walkingspree, I won’t be participating in the step challenges either. It’s more important to me to have a quality experience and enjoy my exercise.

Steps never match

This app never loads the correct amount of steps. Im required to use it for my work benefits and I have to sync it daily to try and ensure it syncs my steps otherwise I will have days where it logs zero steps. The days it does log steps it logs half of what my phone actually reported. So I can walk over 11,000 steps and this app will show I walked 4,000 steps. Because I have to “walk” a certain distance for benefits at work and this is my proof so I can have medical covered but yet we’re stuck using this app that cant even correctly log info sync’d from the phone on how many steps I took in a day is sad. Please fix your product.

Health and wellness

I use Walkingspree both for professional and personal reasons. My employer introduced the app as a health and wellness initiative. For participating, we receive incentives (Jump rope, socks, etc..) More overly, I have personally set goals to exercise more often for heart health! The app tracks my steps, it’s in sync with my iPhone. It is easy to use. I recommend Walkingspree to others seeking track their aerobic activities.
