Keeps saying I need to update app but won’t let me

Character limits? Really?!

For $17mo a character limit is nothing more than a $$ grab. The human like vocals are the best out there, but limiting and charging more to keep using the app is ridiculous. I hit my limit of 325k characters in one day. I’ll definitely be canceling my subscription and deleting the app because I can’t afford to keep paying extra to use this.

Great app

I am a student in school, and I personally think this is genius. It helps me read by text books (bc I have struggled staying focused on reading) and I can follow along. It is very user friendly and I enjoyed it overall.

Not Bad, But Requires Some Deciphering

Not all words are transferred well, although most are. In translating daily devotionals, it gets messed up with the chapters/verses. Also, some words are broken up and mispronounced (i.e. proc-lamation, jour-ney). I would like to be able to edit text to correct those issues. But, overall, it is somewhat helpful.

No longer free

I have used this app for quite a while now and have overall loved it, however the new inclusion of a word limit as well as ads ever few minutes absolutely ruined it for me. I understand money you need to find a way to make money but this is only going to drive away your user base especially when there are other options out there.

Phd student

Currently, I’m a phd student and have alot of readings and I’ve been trying to find a free alternative to Speechify. This is the first app I’ve found that allows me to speed up the audio, have a good voice and design to the app. I run a academic account where I share resources and would love to work with VIIO to share with my followers (~8.3K Currently). (@jasthephdstudent). Couldn’t find a contact anywhere on the internet lol

Gives Speechify a run for its money (this app is free for now)

I love this app!!!! This is actually a better quality version of Speechify. And this is free!! (for now). Thank you VIIO team! I hope this app can be for iPad and Mac (laptop for other documents and websites) so that way I can read while I listen! I just hope your company doesn’t get greedy with its subscription model in the future. As a student, I cannot afford the price point of Speechify. You can always have a student plan (no premium voices + 1 device only) vs a regular plan (choice of 1 premium voice + 1 device) vs a Professional Plan for professionals in the field. (All premium voices + email functionality + website functionality + all devices + another user vs enterprise plan for startups and companies) Thank you!!! I see big things in the future for this app and company!!!

Thanks for making this free for users. It’s super user-friendly. Text recognition and pronunciation is pretty good, better than some of the other apps I’ve tried. Recommendations: there should be a way to alter the text recognized for words that unrecognizable by the app or make the app better equipped to recognize text; have a slower voice reading option.

Great app with minimal glitches and without the useless eye candy.

I still have version 1.2.4, so I cannot speak to the quality/affordability of the premium features. I can’t overstate how much I love this app! It has enabled me to listen to several entire books while doing yard work and other relatively mindless tasks during which I would be otherwise intellectually unproductive. I want to express my sincere thanks to the developers for providing an app with the full functionality of the competition without making me pay a billion dollars (or even a penny) for it. The ONLY thing that needs to change (as of the version I’m using) is that it will stop speaking whenever it runs into ellipses in the text (ie. “…”). Whenever this happens I have to pull out my phone and manually select the word directly after the ellipse, and then it reads perfectly again. Thank you for making an awesome app!
