Like the Real Thing
I’ve been using this app for years. Ever since my HP 12c died. It works exactly the same! I had a little glitch in that I was getting the wrong payment for a loan that I was entering. I contacted the developer and he answered right away. He asked if I had the future value set to zero. Somehow it had gotten changed and it was not zero. I set it back to zero and everything works perfectly again. Thanks for the quick response! I love this app. (I must be happy with it, this is the only review I’ve written about an app so far.)
Where’s the paste?
I love this app, and bought two versions. I love the fact that the scientific version allows both RPN and ALG. Any chance that feature could be brought to the Financial versions. Switching back and forth all day can be confusing at times and I don’t have the luxury of using only one calculator. Second question (feature request?). I love the ability to copy to the clipboard and use it fairly often. But even more often I would like to paste from another app INTO the touch calculator. Is that possible? Have I missed this feature?
Works like the real thing
I have had the 16C flavor for a couple of years now and it works as well as my HP-16 C. I have pulled the batteries and put it in storage for my ancestors;)Just purchased the 15C flavor and it seems to be working like the physical HP device per the HP-15C user manual information. One exception is the memory allocation. It looks like the maximum program and register memory is available. The physical device has a trade off if you want the maximum program memory you need to decrease the available registers. Not a problem just a difference.
20-May-22 - good to great, only one complaint
A collection of what many people consider the best calculators ever made, let alone by Hewlett Packard.Myself, I purchased the big three: 16C, 15C, and 12C (not the platinum version). I really like the „hot key“ option for three paid-for calculators.Basic app comes with „free“ (with ads) versions of the 11C and 12C. For casual users, these two calculators might be all that are ever needed. (The 15C is an enhanced 11C; having owned one, it‘s worth it to purchase)My only complaint, and costing one star in my rating, is the 18-May-22 update - which now blanks the screen when the app is „in the background“. This was not a good change; I often need to see the current calculator and results while typing in other apps. The black screen with the three hexagons are not a welcome feature.(For the developers: My devices still have the home button and double-clicking that button is how I get to see more than one app at a time. It is in this state that the recent update removes the calculator display and replaces it with the three hexagons. PLEASE change it back the way it used to be!)
Versatile RPN Calculator — Well Designed
This is a well-designed, smoothly functioning, RPN calculator. I have not done a thorough test on accuracy but it appears to be accurate. Because the calculator is free, unobtrusive ads run in the upper right hand corner. Even the ads are well designed to be visible but not in the way. The designer has a flair.
Great calculator however can’t figure out how to remove ads will gladly pay.
Started seeing ads, can’t figure out how to remove them. It is likely there is some paid version I could get to remove the ads, I just can’t find it. Likely my incompetence. However, will have to move on to another calculator. Update: Turns out I have the paid version however had accidentally selected the ad version. Developer had me press the ‘On’ button to pick my version I am now less incompetent.
Needs update for iOS 13
Was my go to for a calculator but it does not display correctly on iOS 13. Is this app still supported? I paid for it so I have to assume it will be fixed.Update on previous review: Back to 5 stars after the iOS 13 fix. Thank you. 🤓
Free version OK, paid version ripoff
The calculator app itself works well enough. In fact, to the point that I went ahead and paid to get rid of the ads. It claims to have family sharing, so I paid using my iPad. When using on my iPhone, which is more typical, I still have the ads! And you can’t pay for it again on the phone because Apple figures the app was already paid for.I’ve tried multiple times deleting and redownloading and rebooting phone. Reset purchases from the Settings screen does nothing. I even tried purchasing again direct from iPhone but Apple doesn’t allow and says it was already purchased, so at least Apple is protected the user.
Hate the ads
I would be willing to pay to have the ads removed, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to purchase the paid version.Update: prompt developer response, much appreciated. Perhaps that could be made more obvious in the app.
Quality product!
I have spent quite a bit of time with the software engineering calculator, the 16i. I have discovered ZERO problems to date, BUT of course, as a software engineer, I have to admit that guarantees ZERO.So far, it appears to be an excellent, quality product. I'm glad to know the HP-16C lives on.
