The THI, unlike the index of Thom, is an index which goes directly to a climate classification, rather than to a biometeoclimatica classification system, starting from specific hygrothermal values. It is valid both for extremely hot weather phases, as for very cold periods. With temperatures above 46°C, even with changes in relative humidity, the index always identifies the extreme class.
