Reasonable, but issue with Export->Copy

The app is awesome, the idea is great, the handwriting recognition is impressive. However, after paying to unlock the export and then trying the export copy feature (to have the TeX land in my TexPad app, another awesome and impressive tool), I was surprised to consistently see double the amount of necessary text. That’s right: hand-write say x+y, say Export,Copy and then go into TexPad and say Paste — you receive x+yx+y ! Now that is quite burdensome. Of course, if I try say with Notes, this does not happen. If then, right away, I select the text from Notes, copy and then paste into TexPad, it does not happen either. So I don’t know who is to blame (my app writing skills are not very extensive, but I am a Computer Scientist, having been working with various other stuff, practical and theoretical, for almost for 30 years). If I dare to try to “open into” directly into TexPad, then it opens a new file, which I clearly do not need (and it also forgets where it had an already open file from — I had to quit TexPad and to restart). I know these things can be quite a bit tricky, from having myself tinkered with apps in the past. So I am still full of respect and admiration towards all these apps and all that is unfolding, and keep the five stars. May I advise a bit of cooperation and integration between these two really great tools, if possible ? Thanks !!!

Not happy with curt reply from support

Basically, no email support unless it has to do with payment or technical issues. Even then, it’s their call. For everything else, read the FAQ. Hey man, we’re paying a price that you set. What you’re saying is sorry, we’re a small team with insufficient resources. Well, excuse me for giving you MY money for a product YOU can’t support because you’re short-handed. How you run business is your problem. If you can’t deliver, then don’t sell. Also, I’m not going to pay twice after the tone of your response to a simple licensing query. The only reason for Texifier is to use it on my iPad on the road. The app itself hangs at times, the editor has minor deficiencies, but I can put up with it because it works most of the time. I don’t holler for support unless I’m really pressed for time and I can’t easily find the problem in documentation. But to have a “go read the docs first” thrown in my face has consequences: you won’t get anymore money from me.

Bad service and maintenance- do not buy this app

Just spend your money on a product which is maintained, and does not become useless after the first update of iOS.You can’t even start a new project or share an old project for weeks now. The developers didn’t even try to offer a temporary or partial solution for these fundamental issues. They disregard the issues on customer service. iPadOS 15 has been out for weeks, and the beta for months, yet their is completely not functioning. If, like me, you need to typeset LaTeX and use your iPad as a platform for work, you have no choice but to purchase a different editor (or simply not being able to work for who knows how many more weeks). Their slow action and treatment of customers makes it so the price you pay for this app is only until the next iOS update, which is not worth it compared to the competitors. Don’t make my mistake.

Quite Impressive; Small Issues

I quite love this app; probably the best money I’ve ever spent in terms of software. Runs very smooth on my iPad Pro with keyboard cover. LaTeX all renders perfectly; I love the continuous update PDF feature. The app syncs very nicely with Dropbox. I wish that when I enter a command like “\frac” and hit tab, it would make it so that it would appear “\frac{num}{denom}” like TeXStudio does on my laptop. I also wish the app would remember where I left off reading on my PDF; it often jumps to a page half way in the document which is rather annoying. The “sync viewer” button only seems to work when I’m a few pages away from the particular line I need to sync with. A few bugs that I hope will be fixed in the future. This is an otherwise spectacular app. Another neat feature would be shortcut integration. All in all, 5/5, well deserved, well worth the $.

After repeated claims that bugs were being fixed, the problems are worse than ever.

I have been using LaTeX for decades now, happily writing math intensive papers. Finding a program that would work on an iPad seemed genius. However, this one has never worked well on either of my two iPads. And the support has been abonimably bad. 1. On the previous iPad, the program would systematically freeze, an error message would pop up far too quickly to be read, and the program would not respond to the keypad, sometimes for as much as 5 seconds. 2. On the current iPad, the freezing continues, and now it is compounded by flickering of the .pdf images, and a recurrent inability to scroll through the document. 3. On neither iPad have I been able to email my files. Support told me that I needed to have an email account set up on the iPad. This was useless, an email account was set up, and when I asked what might have been meant, there was never a response. 4. I have tried, many many times, to get support for the freezing issues. I recently looked through the email trail, it is impressively bad. Several times the promise was made that my problems would be resolved when version 1.8 came out. They are now on version 1.8.2. The same problems continue, some of them have become worse. In all, my recommendation is to give up on this program. Unfortunately, I do not know of a competently written option. Maxwell B. Great way to write LaTeX, but poor Dropbox integration

This app makes writing LaTeX on iPad a breeze. The killer feature is live update. As you write an equation (and other LaTeX) you can see it typeset in real time in the pdf file. This makes writing LaTeX much more intuitive and interactive. On an 9.7” iPad the display is a little too small to take full advantage of it, but on the 12.9” and 11” Pro this should be really great.BUT, as many reviewers has remarked, the Dropbox integration is poor (and I did not realize this before buying). You can only access one specific app folder. This is very much out of date. I have hundreds of projects that include LaTeX. I don’t want to have to move them all into the app folder — also because the contain many other documents (graphics, excel files etc.). The recent update made it possible to link folders in iCloud, but not Dropbox.If the app had full Dropbox integration, I would definitely give it 5 stars.UPDATE: I got a reply from the developer. It seems the Dropbox issue is out of their hands. Hopefully it will come with new versions of iOS. So, I updated to 5 stars.

Poor customer service, Texpad iPad app keeps crashing all the time.

The mac version of Texpad is stylistically very pleasing. For this reason, I bought the iPad version of the app because I figured I could sync my tex files on my iPad and mac using their Texpad connect. However, the iPad version of Texpad has been crashing every single time I have used it, starting a week after I bought it. I have not yet been able to figure out why it keeps crashing. I have had close to zero support from the Texpad team to help me figure out why. For some reason, the crashes do not always generate error reports. However, I have sent them all the details of my problem; I even sent them a screen recording. The complete lack of tech support from their end has been very frustrating and downright appalling, especially given this is a paid app ! The end result is that I have had to delete all my Texpad projects on their Texpad connect. (I suspect having my files on Texpad connect is the reason the app was crashing because since last week, the Texpad app also started crashing on my MacBook).

Excellent TeX platform

This is a Godsend for people who want to do technical writing in iOS. I particularly like the two panel mode where the pdf output is continually updated as one types in the source files. Initially the app didn’t work well, with mysterious hangs and other weird behaviors - these were largely resolved by removing and re-downloading the app. After this, the app worked very well.I have a few minor quibbles: the typesetting speed is several times slower than a competing product and it would be nice if the synchronization between the source and output worked both ways. All in all, a great product and I hope it keeps improving.

Compiles LaTeX but has interface woes

First I should say, it is very cool to be able to write and compile LaTeX locally on an iPad, and this app deserves credit for that.However, the interface is very clumsy and painful to use. A few examples:- Things break when the window is resized.- There are keyboard shortcuts, but they aren’t registered in the normal way so you can’t discover them by holding the Command key.- When in split screen, you can open the file tree, but once it is open the button to close it is offscreen. It cannot be closed without resizing the window.- The flow through the app is confusing and redundant, with multiple paths to do many things such as opening a project- While there technically is autocomplete, the interface is confusing and works poorly with a keyboard. Autocomplete for citations does not search the title or author, but only matches the exact string of the shortname.There are many other failures and inconveniences in this interface which make it too frustrating to use for any length of time. It is usable if you have to use LaTeX locally on your iPad. As annoying as using Overleaf in the browser on iOS is, it’s still a better choice for most people if it’s an option.I would pay a significant amount of money for an app with similar functionality but a reasonable, iOS-standard interface.

Needs Quality of Life Improvements

This app really is great. Being able to work on homework and papers on my iPad has been super. The app even compiles quicker than my laptop that has a intel 8750-H. However, there are some key quality of life improvements that need to be made that I’ve noticed so far. Firstly, when I type a curly bracket {, it auto fills the other side being }. However if the next character is the close bracket, and I type it instead of using the one already provided, it will do something like {}}. It will also do this with parenthesis and $ used for the inline math environment. I wish it wouldn’t replicate these characters if the next character after the cursor is that character (this is what other text editor solutions automatically do). Additionally, I use my apple keyboard to type on my iPad. Thus when I want to use the prediction that auto fills, I wish I could use the arrow keys along with tab in order to choose which selection I want to use. Lastly, DARK MODE PLEASE. This is a must and would make the editor so much easier to use for longer durations. The file browser solution could also look prettier and be easier to use - but that is something minute for me.
