Overpriced versus Original

I’ve had the original Suggester app for a long time and many of the same features and functionalities are there. There are definitely notable feature improvements like MIDI connections and such.. but you have to get past a $15 pay wall! This is a high ceiling in my opinion in comparison to what the app in its original version can offer. I wouldn’t recommend paying $15 when you could just get the original app with more of the core functions in place without having to pay so much for an app

Very impressed

One of the few theory applications to do it right. I love writing progressions on this. The voicing alteration page for the guitar alone can justify the $20 upgrade price. The chord suggestion feature shows all of the chords that fit within the scale you have selected. It is helpful, but I wish there was an additional feature that gave actual suggestions (similar to what the TONALY app or Scaler 2 VST does). If this app had something like that, it was be the end-all solution for writing chord progressions.

Clean and functional

I don't know about V1, other than having seen it, so I come without that background. I'm not a big reviewer, however, this tool is very well done and there are a couple of negative comments regarding a non-app issue.This is an effective tool for those who don't know chords, and those who do. It's a nice place to experiment in a simple space outside of any DAW. When ready, you can export a MIDI file, and continue to tinker. If I could add anything, it would be a library of my progressions (but I can keep them as files just fine, just an extra step to play each one), and ability to add my own chords. But again, very well done, and love that there is no data collected.

Custom Chords from Keyboard

What’s really needed is custom chords enabling the user to define any chord from a keyboard and name it. For example closed and spread open chords. This is essential for jazz or orchestration. A few other apps have this. This is the main reason why I have not paid for v2. Also, it’s too difficult to define alt chords or move chords across the keyboard. I know it’s a lot of work to create and maintain an app, but adding custom is just really needed. Thank you for giving us Suggester.Updates:I can’t test custom chords without paying. Also, the chord detection might be incorrect if substitute notes for chord tones. To me, chordpolypad has made it easy to input a custom chord using a fully visible keyboard.

Seems like v1

It seems like I'm paying for V1 all over again. The Mac test version is so restricted I can't even take it for a thorough test drive. From this side of the desk it's V1 and I already own V1. A $5 discount tp V1 users is really dissapointing and not worth the additional cost. Mathiew did a lot of improvments to V1 but I'd actually like to see what V2 does. Maybe a video in the App Store?

Awesome app. Too pricey for unknown features

It doesn’t seem like there’s a reason to upgrade to Suggester 2 from the original app. As another reviewer mentioned, there’s not enough new features to justify a $15 paywall. Core features seam identical with a few niche QOL updates. I could be wrong since I’ve held back on purchasing the full version but there isn’t a side by side comparison of features. I can’t find documentation showing what features were added. It just seems weird to boast cutting edge features but the only way you can explore them is to pay for the full product.

Needs time signature changes

I will happily upgrade to Suggester 2 as soon as there’s the ability to change time signatures depending on the section

Getting expensive

I downloaded the first version of this app two months ago and paid full price to unlock all the features. It had everything I wanted, except for a microphone transcribing feature. Two months later they have a new version of the app and even with a discount (for purchasing the first version two months ago) they want me to spend another $15 to unlock it just for my phone, or $40 to unlock it for my phone and computer. That’s a little frustrating, especially considering that the new version still does not have a microphone transcribing feature.

Convenient, but costs too much for upgrade from original

Costs way too much, especially considering I already paid for the original Suggester - got it anyway because it's very convenient for messing around with chord progressions. The interface could use more work since it's already version 2, but I enjoy using it on my iPhone to mess around with chord progressions when bored.
